don't know if it is only my perception, but I couldn't help but notice that Scofield seems to be at last unleashing his darkside. Two scenes in the last episode really striked me, which are:
1. "I am coming for you."
2. The scene where Gretchen took the warden to LJ's place of kidnap, and killing him and the bodyguard. When Scofield learnt of this outcome he said in a very sarcastic tone, "It's a pity, he seemed like a really nice guy."
The first instance seemed like he really meant what he was saying, he wants revenge for what happened to Sara. Sara's death seemed to have completely (temporarily or permanentely) changed his perspective, and he is now able to disregard his strong moral sense.
The second instance was even more shocking in a way. I got the feeling that somehow from the beginning when he decided to tell te whole truth to the warden, the genious in Scofield, and his big picture thinking ability, he knew of the possibility that the warden would end up dead. Therefore, he was not only not surprised to learn of his death, but also happy that his plan worked out. |
