Brigadier General Cecil Rawling

Cecil Rawling was my great uncle and I have recently been doing some research on his life. As I live in Belgium I visited his grave for the first time this last weekend (10/11/07). Imagine my suprise to find items by his grave which indicated that someone from outside my immediate family had been there and left some personal messages including a print-out from this website.
I would be very interested to make contact with these persons if at all possible to share information on this fascinating part of my family history.

I can be contacted directly at: [hide]pii.nutrition@gmail.com [/hide]or via this site.

David,

Please accept my apologises for the time in replying to the post you made on my website forum. Work has kept me from this part of my website. I have to say I am pleased to find that a relative lives from the Rawling family. All my recent research has found that his two brothers did not leave any children, I guess you disprove that.

It was myself who on the 90th anniversary of his death laid two crosses and a small bio of him. Were they still there?

I would be really interested in sharing any information you have or that I can supply about Cecil, he has really captured my imagination recently and fate had it that I would be there at the appropriate time during a recent visit to the Ypres area.

regards

Andy, thanks for your response it has solved one mystery! Cecil was my mother's uncle. She and my aunt, who is still alive, have various Tibetan items which he must have brought back with him and my younger brother has researched various parts of the Geographical Society archives where there are still items from his travels and a box of glass slides of various photos. I have his medals and also some fine ceremonial cymbals!!
I have two brothers and a sister and we have two sons and my younger brother a son and daughter so there is a family tree that is still growing!!

I will pass on your comments to them and maybe we can help each other put some more of the puzzle together.

Best wishes,
David
