If you hunt turkey in the spring, we want to hear about it

This Tom wasn't meant for me (pic)

I killed a nice tom this yesterday morning at 6:45am. 9 1/2 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs, 20 pounds. I was hunting with my father (He has never killed a bird), and I called in this tom. I had a great view of the bird, but what I didn't know is my dad's shot was blocked by a fallen tree. I kept waiting for him to shoot, but he never did. The tom got past him and started to putt and turn around. I was afraid he was about to take off, and he started to act nervous, so I finally took the shot. This should have been my dad's bird, and I feel terrible about it. My dad says he is glad I took the shot, because he couldn't, but I could still see that he was disappointed. I just hope that we can get him to connect the next time around.

Fine bird! You still got any season left to go out and get one in for dad? If so, best of luck to him!

Yessiree, XI, that's a fine bird indeed! Congrats! :D

Yeah, we aren't even out of our first week of a three week season. But the pressure is on to help my dad kill a bird. He is getting frustrated and that is the last thing a hunter needs. I am trying my best to get him connected on a bird, and I am hoping this weekend will bring that prayer to life.
