I killed a nice tom this yesterday morning at 6:45am. 9 1/2 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs, 20 pounds. I was hunting with my father (He has never killed a bird), and I called in this tom. I had a great view of the bird, but what I didn't know is my dad's shot was blocked by a fallen tree. I kept waiting for him to shoot, but he never did. The tom got past him and started to putt and turn around. I was afraid he was about to take off, and he started to act nervous, so I finally took the shot. This should have been my dad's bird, and I feel terrible about it. My dad says he is glad I took the shot, because he couldn't, but I could still see that he was disappointed. I just hope that we can get him to connect the next time around.
