i found that Bear makes a crossbow with suction cup darts. it uses a recurve spring steel bow and has a target. it's reasonably accurate. the kids love it.

took the daughter and a friend with his two shooting today. use a compact 22 with a truglo 22 scope on it and subsonics. shot up 50 rounds. my daughter's getting good enough we'll have to start backing up.

brought the target home and used the bear crossbow with my bows on the target (life size deer pic), they loved it. good way to get the kids started, safe indoors too.

Sounds like a fun way to play with the kids! Why subsonic rounds? Are they cheaper than regular .22LR's or shorts?

YOu might see what it costs at the Office supply place to laminate some 8X10 deer, bear, squirrel and other game photos. I bet them suction darts will stick to them like crazy. You can set up a regular shooting gallery. :D

the subsonics are quieter than the lr's and shorts as they don't break the sound barrier there is no sonic boom. they claim that with a firearm half the noise is from the sonic boom so if you take it away you only have the sound of the explosion left. as an aside, that's why the military likes subsonic ammo for silenced firearms as well. with a nice 22 and subsonic ammo the sound is about like a good airgun.

for me this is improtant as one of my children is noise sensitive and will drop what he's doing, cover his ears and start to cry if startled by a loud noise.

the idea with the pics is great. i have a calendar that could be the donor for it. they'd love it.
