Thank you for your interest and participation in the Juneau Parents forums. We hope that this will be even more successful than the Yahoo! group that has been operating with much participation and interest since 2004. Since this is a public forum, we (the Moderators) encourage open discussion on any topic of interest to the Juneau parenting community. We also hope that it can become a valuable resource to the community as the Yaho! group has been. With that in mind, some guidelines:

1. We must all remember that opinions are personal, and that occasionally some of these personal opinions will clash with others' views. That is the time where one must either choose not to read the thread or report the post to a moderator. Moderators will not condone public flaming of any kind and hope that we are all adult enough to handle things diplomatically.

2. Please post anything controversial in the appropriate places so that others can choose whether or not to read it. Usually, controversial posts will grow out of posts which are initially not controversial. If a Moderator feels that a topic has become too controversial for a General Discussion forum, he or she may move this topic to the Controversial Topics forum. If this happens to a topic which you started, please do not be offended by this action; it is there to allow those who don't wish to view controversial topics that option.

3. Please post topics in appropriate forums. Moderators may move topics which are posted in the wrong forum or which are inappropriately cross-posted.

4. Commercial postings of any kind are ONLY allowed in the Commercial Postings forum, and these must be approved by the Moderator to ensure that the forum members receive only information applicable to Juneau parenting. If a commercial posting is found in a forum other than this one, a Moderator may move it to the Commercial forum.

5. Last, but not least, it is important to realize that while this is a public community forum, it has been created and is administered by community volunteers. While the Moderators have the best interests of the forum at heart and will act accordingly, this is NOT a democracy... therefore, Moderators have complete authority to move posts, delete posts, warn members, and if all else fails, delete/ban members. Those of you active on Internet boards or Usenet newsgroups for any amount of time should be very familiar with this type of policy.

Again, thanks for your participation in the Juneau Parents forum!
