Have you ever had to write a scene and just haven’t felt the vibe?
Well, really who hasn’t? I know I have, so I though I’d share what I do to help,
One word: Music. And for those of you who use it already, than likely I don’t’ need to explain more, but in case…
Just listening to music can set you in the perfect mindset of your character.
For instance, If I’m writing a duel scene I usually listen to something like Evanesces more rock numbers, haunted for instance.
But for all out battle, true “lets open a can of War!” Dragon force without a pause or doubt. And it can be anything by them, they whole collection is amazing and perect for huge and pivotal battle scenes.
And when it’s a calm moment between battles, or a heart braking moment, Josh Groban.
But what ever you pick, what ever you are writing, find music to go with it, and just loose yourself in both the scene and the music, it will help every time.
Or most of the time, sometimes watching the youtube video someone has set to the music is very very good, and I’ll have to listen to the same song a couple of times before I start typing.
That’s my tip, good writing one and all
Mike.
