The Eliratu Forests

The vast forests of Fal'Shareem cover most of the Westlands.
They are full of old magic and mystery. Any treading there must
not take the forest lightly. The ocean known as the Divide crashes
onto the sandy beaches of the west here as well, and rolling hills
and waterfalls also populate the mainland. The Westlands of
Vorandia are truly a beautiful place...

The Eliratu Forests

Welcome, to a land lost to only itself, and those select passer-bys who cross its path. Here, you can find many things, that will soon be explained. . .

These Forests, something like a city-state without clear boundaries, are made of three parts: The Old Wood, the Eliratu, and the Sparkling Oasis.

The Old Wood:

Image

The Old Wood is a cursed forest of great magnitude. Its trees scrape the sky, and its land is sheeted with a thin and cool mist. This land is said to be cursed, birthing darkness within the mist of this old battle ground. The creatures rising up from this misty darkness, include three main beasts, with many hybrids inbetween (will be explained later)...

The history:
The Old Wood was once the land of the Ifiratu, a village holding many strong mortals. These people were as normal as others, with maybe a light tan and lean figures. These people had generations of the Gifted. These Gifted were called Warriors. The Warriors had swirling irises of grey, blue, black, yellow, green, or any combination of the two. They as well had the power to weild both Earth and Fire from each of their hands- marked with a set of the Linga* tattoes. Upon a war with the Dramidi living in Eliratu, they lost and met their ends upon here. With the power of Earth radiating up from their burned ashes, trees were born to take place as gravestones, trees with dark whispers and a lingering presence. From there, the ground was swallowed with lost anguish and the yearning of the Ifiratu souls, thus becoming a breeding ground for danger and darkness.

The Beasts:
The Crested, are beasts that represent large lions. They stand the size of elephants, and are a dark coal grey, going easily unseen. They have silver eyes like mirrors that reflect fear into the eyes of watchers, and fangs like crystal. These Crested beasts have long tails that hold sharp shards of metallic flesh at their ends. Their most common hunting tactic is standing still in the forest and waiting. Their legs easily pass as tree trunks, and their bodies easily pass as thick canopy.
The False, are mimicking creatures. What do they mimic? Angels. These beasts represent people, for they have will and rights, abilities to mimic languages of any sort. Though they are usually bound to stay within the Old Wood, without bail to leave. These are usually taller, somewhere around the sixth foot of measures. With long- usually light colored (or of most any color)- hair and pale skin, they easily accentuate their wings- spanning up to ten feet each and color being usually dark and tinted to something that would match either their hair or eyes.
The Lying, are demons. They can shapeshift and form the appearence of others. Their original forms are usually jaunty and sharp, with enigmatic and fearless features. Their skin is usually a soft light gray- or ash color- and their hair is usually dark. The Lying have eyes of slitted pupils and wide irises ranging from colors of silver to a faint red or blue (Their eyes usually have the tiny film over them so that at night they can see, as well if light were flashed towards them, you could see the tiny green animal like eyes). These are the creatures that usually play mind games with wanderers and as well tear apart large groups of people to pick them off one by one for a good meal.

The Eliratu:

Image

The Eliratu is a beautiful home to many, mostly the new and old generations of the Dramidi, as well as of travelers who chose not to return to their previous lives. It is at the end of the Sparkling Oasis, and then leads onward to a beach at it's western-most coast. It is a series of small flatlands conjoined through small land bridges and complex waterways. The homing areas are arranged in small sects or in singular groups. Singular grouping homes would be the individual cottage like residences that lay on the smaller flatlands or near landbridges. The larger sects sit as castle-like structures housing small towns within atop uprising land masses.

There are three main sects in Eliratu.

The Market-
This settlement is a castle-like establishment of rustic tones and stone. It rises tall as the industrial landmark. Inside lives the mechanics and tinkering people and marketsmen. As well, people are known to sell foods and other goods here, hence its name being the Market. Its economy powers the other sects.

The Shrine-
This settlement is as well tall and towering, made of white stone and glass. Its perfect appearence suggests that it houses the legends and stories of lore. It is home to many artifacts as well as the Oracle of the Dramidi.

The Home-
This is as it says. Being a soft beige color, and the largest of them all, this represents a giant villa. Inside of its tall walls lay a long stretch of homes and complexes offered to anyone with a bit of change and a good heart. The Home as well houses the Dramidi government- a system of democratic monarchy. The Dramidi Leader (leaders being chosen by blood) sits with his Chosen, and with the venerate congress at his side, makes decisions about what is best for the sacred Dramidi land, and its inhabitants...

The Sparkling Oasis:

Image

This is the ancient battleground of the first Battle of Shining Water. This land was once prospering in proliferating vegitation and gardens, growing beautiful flowers and extensive shrubbery. It is now somewhat barren, but beautiful. The sky is hazed with pink and orange clouds, brightened and darkened by the sun's position. It is accentuated by the dry cracked land holding newfound greenery at its edges, surrounding the twisting rivers and mass of water said to hold magical properties.

The water itself is said to bring upon one foresight- or the ability to foresee trouble or good fortune. It is also known as Fate's Waters, for it is deeper than known, but can be walked through upon stones that move to one's feet to carry them across in a ferry-like fashion.

This land holds arbitrary and harmless wildlife, and is a great attraction to travelers. To its north lay the Old Wood, and to its south lay Eliratu.

Name: Amrina D'nara

Age: 20

Gender: female

Race: Weaver

Appearence: Image
Amrina [Or just Amrin] stands about 5'10, and has a rich tan that she was born with- a trait of the Dramidi tribe. She has long black hair either kept in a bun atop her head held by strings of beads, or in a long braid. Her features are unflawed, and she seems sweet and innocent. Above is shown something that she would be attired in to visit the Shrine, or the Sparkling Oasis to visit Arha. Otherwise, she is seen in much different things that are not as richly detailed. She usually makes her own clothes- which turn out nicely- and holds a curious look about her entire posture.

Personality: Calm, curious, friendly, mysterious, kind, protective

Bio: Amrina was born in Eliratu, in the Shrine. She was known to be a Weaver from birth. After the last of the Weavers died out some odd few generations ago [during the war between the Dramidi and the Ifiratu], she was said to be the eye of hope. From there, she was raised without parents- having been taken from them to be taught the ways of a Weaver.
-
At the age of ten, Amrina had full control over her power, and she found it quite amusing. At first she use to use her power to throw rocks into the water or strum threads over the water's surface.
Thus, sitting at the Sparkling Oasis's edge and strumming on the water, did she meet Arha.
-
Arha had risen to her the first time in meaning of attacking. As he rose his hand and a wave of terror rose from the water at his hand, Amrin recoiled to the dirt and drew her own hand to shower out threads of wind from her fingertips. This wind tore through the wave, and amused Arha. He found her to be some form of entertainment in his damnation here.
-
As Amrina grew, she gained a curious perspective, especially about Arha. She wondered about his scales over his legs, and the horns rising from his head. Even his white hair, and why he wore the blindfold of red. As she carried this back to Eliratu establishments, they found her to be sweet and open-minded. This was a good thing...
-
At the age of eighteen, they sent her off to venture the world and find her purpose. She went on a grand adventure amongst the world beyond the tall trees and ocean's glistening surface. Amrina faced much sexism and much racism as well. Though this only made her stronger, teaching her to be tough, and scruffing the innocent exterior she had. She grew very wise, and learned of many of the world's ways. Her purpose was to bring life back to her people, and to learn of her full power...
-
Two years passed and she has recently returned home. She foretold of all the things she saw. All the advancements, and restraints. The morals of others, and the progress of others. This was an astonishing amount of information for her Shrine mothers, but they soaked it up and relayed it onward to the Dramidi Leader, Faulir, and he portrayed it then, to everyone...
-
Now she leads a life just waiting to see if her purpose was fulfilled, or if she has yet another reason for walking the Eliratu lands...

[[OPENING POST :D]]

"To the North, to the Sparkling Oasis?" Asked Noir, standing with his folded arms tight across his massive chest. He was a Dramidi Warrior, one of my special units, and he was powerful beyond means. To stand about 6'5, and to be a magnificent size of muscle and destruction, he could move beyond what the eyes could follow. His black hair smoothly fell around his cheeks and was razored by his blade to hang an inch from his broad shoulders.

"Yes, I must meet with Ahra." I said gently, staring into the Mica stones that made up a collective mirror. Inside the Shrine, I found my home. They worshipped me, just as they did the Oracle. And sadly, our dear Oracle had befallen a blight of sorts upon these waking days. Her eyes fluttered and her skin was pale, and she no longer spoke to us- not about comfort, nor the future. She was mute and deaf, and dreaming of something none of us could fathom.

I combed the brush through my long black hair, letting it fall smoothly at my body's contour. My eyes swirled a liquid warmth of pink and brown, like chocolate encased in a generous little ribbon.

"Then let us be going." Noir said softly, stepping close to place his hand upon my shoulder. I snapped my head to see the hand. A hand that had immediately reminded me of my old companion. The only man who would befriend me upon my prophesized journey to the rest of the world. His name was Kael, and to this day I was saddened by thinking of how he did not accept my offer to stay with me here in Eliratu.

I stood up, the long rustic red robe falling to the floor with its golden trim seeming to shine as if the sun were striking it directly.
"Go call upon Burk to watch the Oracle. You go with him, do the same. Call for me if a change occurs in her condition." I said gently, discarding the robe onto the foot of the wide bed. Noir nodded gently, gracefully almost, before exiting my quarters.

I wrapped a sleeveless shirt around my upper body, tying at its center a beautiful little corset of roots wind-woven to be impenetranble by any blade. Then, I slid on a set of shorts that were a shade darker than the corset- a smooth earth brown. Pulling them over my undergarments, I tied their centers and dragged my nails over the fabric. Water-woven armor. It was impenetrable by magic.

Slipping on a set of knee-high thin flat-bottomed boots- made of both wind and water woven materials- I tied them up and readied myself to meet with Ahra.
I knew that he would tell me of word from the water itself. And perhaps, word from the other semi-gods that the people were not allowed to see. The semi-goddess of wind, the semi-god of light, the semi-god of earth, and the semi-goddess of shadow. Fire and lightning were under the jurisdiction of the High Source, or the Supreme Being that no one had proof of, except the Oracle's dreams. She was the only one who could speak to these semi-gods in her dreams.
I wonder if... I wonder if the low gods and goddesses are making her ill? Or if their words be so cold and beseeching, that illness would befall her naturally?

-----------------------------------------

I had taken my weapon beads with me from my door, and strode outwards. Outside my quarters, was the Shrine's center. Taking a left down the main stairs, I could see the long white gate, towering tall. Through its grates and steel statures, could be seen the long stretches of forests, and the horizon of mountains in the lands untouched.

Taking quick to my feet, I stepped outside the gates.

"G'day Lady D'nara." Said the guards, bowing as the gates shut and I stared down. The wind whipped my hair about in this high altitude, and I could only enjoy this beautiful scape of territory that was Eliratu. A place that had prospered thanks to me. Thanks to everything I had done. Me, and my good friend Kael...

-----------

After enjoying the sight that was so rare to a Dramidi- the sight of success and proliferation, I had strayed down the path towards the pillar's bottom, where plains rolled in smooth hills between the many little streams that broke about here. Each land sect had a long pillar and a great establishment upon it. But otherwise, there was nothing unordinary. The grass was green, and perhaps tall. Flowers budded like violet tulips. The sky was blue, and the water was almost crystalline.

I had then taken a horse, a silver steed, and rode North to the Sparkling Oasis...

---------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------

I had tied my steed, Lindor, to a tree nearby. I had even walked, by now, across the dry cracked earth, to the water's edge. Here, there were no banks, nor sandy beaches. The land just chopped straight down into the water. It was strange, but beautiful.

"I, Amrina, have come to see Arha." I said loudly. The water at the edge bubbled up, frothing in its new effervescence, just as large peices of slate jolted up to the surface and collided to form a one-person platform.

Stepping onto it with careful feet, I watched the land fade from sight. Though I could always still see it, I was always astonished by the speed that the slates of the Oasis traveled over the water. As if I were standing sturdy upon a serpent's wide back.

The stones stopped short near the center of the Oasis. There, at my feet, was a tiny sand cliff. I stepped into the sand, and turned before sitting down. Resting my hands in the cool sand, I watched the slates disappear. Now, the effervescence returned, the water frothing up in its somewhat dark glory, in the shape of a tall man. Lingering over me, was the form of Arha. He wore a rich red robe, dazzled by the tendrils of his white hair that fell upon it. His eyes were covered with a red blindfold, and parting his hair were dark red horns- one severed and sanded.
His nails were long and red, and his wrists contained by thick cuffs of stone- trailed off by long chains as big as my arms. His chest was bare, but he held no human marks. No belly button, no nipples. He was truly inhuman. Truly strange. Under his left eyes lay a rich red scar, which looked raw or fresh, but as well, it looked as though it could've been some strange tattoo.
His waist showed coal colored scales, that broke down into a single stretch, like he were a sea serpent, or merman. Again, he was truly strange. But a kind and loving god to those he saw fit.

"Dearest Amrin." He smiled, reaching out a hand to combed the wet back to my cheek. "You came."

"Of course Arha, I shan't leave you to your lonesome all the time." I chuckled.

"Yes, but soon a time will come, and you must leave again. 'Tis true, nay, that your Oracle is ailed?" His figure leaned forward, his elbows resting upon the sand as I watched a long and sharp silver fin dash out of the water some distance out, then clap back into the surface before disappearing.

"Ah... I feared such. War burns smoke in the horizon, and darkness makes the night cold with fear. Many dangers have awaited this time, no?" I said softly, touching his white hair. It almost felt like it was water-woven threads. Beautiful, and it made me wonder more of his legend.

"Yes, war is breaking out. One particular estate seems to be seeking total domination. A reach of power over the entirety of these lands. Surely they will burn down the Eliratu Forests, as they would burn down all of the Westlands."

I pressed my lips together and nodded.
"Then I shall gather the forces, and we shall mark the Eliratu edge, and raise the Web." The Web was a long set of wind and water woven walls that withstood both physical and magical resistance. It protected us once from a raid of False, from the Old Wood. Surely it could protect us from power hungry humes, and the likes of the Old Wood once more.

Arha nodded, pressing his fingertips to mine. In his other hand, he cupped water. Holding it to my lips, I drank. Drank Fate's Water.

And closing my eyes, Arha laid me back onto the sand, as the sights of prophecy washed through me...
War was coming.
