Recording acoustic guitar with one mic

Anyone got tips? One mic and its a AT Live Vocal Mic Dynamic Cardioid.
Any tips on placement etc?

The cardiod dynamic can be used. Try pointing the mic at the 12th fret about 2-3 inches away. Make sure that you dont point the mic at the soundhole whatever you do. Work the gain on the channel gradually from 0 until you get a signal that is strong enough to register buy never in the red. A lot of this will be trial and error and will depend upon the piece that you are playing. Stronger gain for picking and less gain for strumming. The mic position will give you both the fullness from the soundboard and the picking stroke shimmer if placed correctly. If you have a second mic, position that one about a foot or two away to pick up the room ambience. Then you can blend the two signals after recording to taste.
