I have heard some advertising on AM radio 790. I have seen some articles in the Chronicle. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a big buzz (that I have seen). I sent out (2/12/08) info on the team to rabid Football fans at work:
...On the TEXAS team: Check out some of the big college names on the players (IE: Quarterbacks Couch, Kingsbury and Symons). The latter two are "accomplished" Texas Tech high octane passers. Add to that, the colorful (and often outspoken) Coach John Jenkins! As such, looks to be a wide out passing attack (He was a good run & shoot coach as a pro and with U of H). Very interesting combination don't you think? As for Eric Crouch (ex Nebraska QB), he is probably trying to get with a team that can get him back into the NFL. This time as a "proven" passer with this team.
Though many were interested, all said no to season tickets. All were "wait and see" and/or they would get individual game tickets when/if they go. Cost and questioned value came up as did membership fees (AAFL version of PSL!). I was the only one that got a season pass (no, I did not add a membership/PSL!). I think this will be a VERY interesting league. Not as popular as NFL or College. But it seems to have killed the 2 Indoor/Arena football league teams here in Houston (none lasted more than a year). There have been 3 teams in the Houston area in the past 2 years.
Good riddance too. This is a much better idea and all should get behind this team and league. At the same time I warn the league, don't make this an expensive night out. Fill the stadium by rewarding fans with high level play and eliminate Membership fees!!
Word to the Texas QB's - Sling that ball down their gullets! YEEEEHHHAAAAAaaaaaa!!!!!
