What can neroli oil be mixed with for a back pain rub?

Postby VancouverIslander on Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:21 am

Hello,

Before my mother passed away she swore by her neroli oil. She suffered from spinal stenosis, degerative disc disease, and fibromyalgia. I used to rub her back with a mixture she made of neroli oil, plus some other substance she mixed it in to dilute it and still make it applicable to her skin/back. I have forgotten what she mixed the neroli oil with! She only told me once, and I figured she wasnt going to die anytime soon, so i just let that little factoid go...

I'm currently trying to help an older lady that has the same conditions as my mother but she also has severe double scoliosis, and Sacroiliac Joint problems. She also has many allergies to food, and medications. She mentioned she has some trouble with aromatherapy and essential oils, atleast when they are in pure undiluted form. My mother diluted the neroli oil quite a bit, and it still helped her pain. I'm thinking if their is a neutral (non essential oil) that i can dilute the neroli oil with, while letting her still be able to rub it in her back, well then it might work for her. Can you suggest a neutral oil or substance that she can dilute the neroli oil into, while still being able to rub it into her skin (on her back)? How much should the neroly oil be diluted into it, in other words what is a good mixing rate?

Thank you for your help.

Neroli essential oil is a poor choice for pain. I do not know what she mixed with it, but it was probably the carrier oil that helped.
If you are looking for the perfect carrier oil than fractionated coconut oil is it. FCO does not stain, get greasy, or have any smell of its own. As well as having all the benefits of coconut oil, and being hypoallergenic too.
In you friends situation I would highly recommend you try the Bella Mira Relief or Release Blends (which are already diluted) full strength, once a day, one drop one each painful area.
You can dilute that with the Fractionated Coconut Oil if you need to. If she can only handle a single oil that I would try Birch, Wintergreen ( Has cortisone like properties) Or Peppermint. Ylang Ylang is a potent muscle relaxer and Blue Tansy has similar properties to opiods. I highly recommend you read our Pain 101 Page (http://www.abundantlifeessentials.com/pain.htm) For more info on Pain Management.
To align the spine without adjustment she can put 2 drops of Fortitude Essential Oil Blend in her left hand and grab her left foot ( so that the oil is resting on the sole of her foot) and hold it there until there is a temperature change, heartbeat, or 5 minutes has passed. This will align the electrical energies in the body and align the spine. I have Spina Bifida as well as Scoliosis and this little trick has saved me from a wheel chair!
I almost forgot to answer your other question. All of our oils can safely be used undiluted. However If she is real sensitive 5-1 is a good dilution rate to start with. But the goal should always be to use it undiluted.
Many people say there have sensitivities to essential oils. I SURE DID! And this kept me from using them for over 10 years! They are sensitive to the adulterants in most other brands. Also the more unhealthy you are, the more they will bother you. If someone is just miserable they may need a liver cleanse. Seniors tend to be on alot of medications and this can cuase problems. However a person can be allergic to that particular plant. if the person reacts physically in under 30 minutes or develops hives or difficulty breathing they may be allergic to that plant.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me!

Thank you very much for your time and information.

I tried to pm you back but it said you had that feature turned off/disabled.

Good luck in the future. Thanks again :)
