There is website that was started a few years ago and I'm sure you have seen their logo posted at places like McDonald's or on food boxes. The way it works is that this company has partnered up with several companies to allow people to buy their products in exchange for a college contribution. The company is a non-profit organization that is trying to get our new generation to attend college, and is helping you buy soliciting companies to donate money for your kids education. There is really no catch other than buying the products that they have partnered up with. Its real simple all you do is open a free account by going here Upromise - Save money for college. and once you signed up you enter all your credit card or debt cards that you use on everyday purchases. Then when you buy a product that is partnered up by any of the stores you automatically get a contribution. I did some research and it does not affect your rewards points or anything like that. So you can use your credit card and earn double points, your normal airline miles and also a contribution from the partners. So no need to worry about loosing your current rewards if you enroll your credit car. Once your signed up look through their website and find out which partners donate, for example like Bed Bath and Beyond or Exxon and shop there if you need something and you will automatically see your account get credited with the % of contribution that the partner is committed to. You can do several things with the money you get. One is if you currently have student loans you can link your account to your student loan provider and have the money sent every month to them, or if you can start a college savings account for your kids, that will earn interest. It's well worth the five minutes of your time. You can also get family members to set up their credit cards and all the proceeds will go to your kids, for example if your parents or grandparents use their card the money they earn will go towards your kids.  Go here to read up more on it http://www.adviceontime.com/Upromise.htm
