You'd think with that list, there'd be some kind of ongoing story potential. But with AW's merry-go-round (or revolving door?) of writers over the following years, not too many of them saw much, as most would bring in their own ideas and different characters to the canvas and forefront, starting with the first major replacement, James Lipton, who introduced a whole new family, the Gregorys. The Matthews wouldn't be the main focus again until Agnes Nixon took over, and had all the Gregorys boarding a plane, which crashed, killing all aboard. Harding Lemay did a great job of mixing original and new characters, but after his departure, most of the remaining writers didn't think so highly of the Matthews for the most part. Aunt Liz didn't really come up in many conversations after the 30th anniversary ep(s). I guess she was in California with Missy and Ricky (?) and/or having something to do with the lives of Pat/Alice/Russ (?)....guess we'll never know.
