Ben. He brought Ivan to Elmo for that hockey team in the first place. It's nothing personal against Ben. I like him usually. I'm just mad. Ivan never would have been in Elmo if Ben didn't want him for that hockey team.
Believe me, I'm not happy about Patrick and Annie's unhappy ending, either! I'm thrilled about Sara and Eric, and Jane and Sam, and Marin and Jack. Ben and Theresa got back together ages ago, and Buzz and Mai got back together last week. Celia and Dick remain solid too. So the only couple that didn't get a happy ending was Patrick and Annie!
I guess I thought that Annie loved Patrick more than she did. I mean, Marin and Jack broke up, and Jack was even engaged to Lynn for a while, and they ended up together. Jane and Sam also broke up for a while, and they ended up getting married. Sara was initially so self-conscious about her past, and about Eric's present, and weeks went by between their first meeting and them starting to date (because Sara was avoiding Eric), and they ended up getting engaged. When Men in Trees started, Ben and Theresa were separated and on the verge of divorcing, but after Ben's heart scare, they realized what was really important and got back together and they've been trying for a baby. Mai moved out on Buzz after he gambled away all of their money on the hockey team, but she took him back after, like, six weeks. And in spite of Celia's reservations about dating again after 26 years, and her annoyance at Dick's clinginess and annoying habits, they stayed together because they love each other.
The ONLY reason Patrick left Annie is that he didn't remember her. But he didn't even remember his own name or his parents or anything about his life. And the SECOND he did remember, his first thought was, "I have to get back to Elmo, and back to Annie."
Meanwhile, Annie is sleeping with Ivan the hockey jerk. All Patrick wants is a chance. He told her he'd win her back, just give him a chance, give him some time. And she just totally blew him off for what, for Ivan? PLEASE! Patrick was right: Ivan is a player, and the next hockey groupie that comes along will make him drop Annie like a hot potato.
I think if we had gotten a third season, Patrick and Annie would have gotten back together, but since they didn't, poor Patrick wound up crushed.
If Patrick and Annie had reunited, it would have been perfect, because everyone else got a happy ending. But I guess you can't have everything.
I'm glad that everyone else especially Jack and Marin had happy endings, too. I wish that Patrick and Annie had a happy ending. Even though I'm ticked off at Ben. I'm glad that he and Theresa are still together.

That's how I feel too, Michelle. Like I said, if Patrick and Annie had gotten their happy ending, it would have been perfect, because everyone else got a happy ending.
I read online that there is alternate ending for this episode. Some people online saw the different ending than those who saw the episode on TV. It would have ending differently for Jack and Marin if there was another season.
Spoiler:
In this alternate ending, Marin, Jack and uncle Ned the dog were on the couch in Marin's cabin. There was a knock on the door. Jack went and opened the door. Jack said "Lynn". There was a red car that took off. They never showed Lynn on-screen. There was a baby in a car seat left on Marin's doorstep. Jack and Marin just looked stunned. Lynn left her baby with them.
