I'm not questioning anyone's political affiliations or preferences in the current election. This is more of a "what kind of voter are you?" question. In other words, do you always vote just for the sake of voting(a lot of people vote a certain party no matter what) or vote for the lesser of two evils, or do you have to believe in the candidate you're voting for?
I have to believe in the person I vote for or I don't vote at all. Some have criticized me for it but my conscience won't allow me to do anything but. |

I vote for the candidate that best represents my views and beliefs for the economy, government, taxation, personal freedoms, etc. I really don't consider myself a Republican, but more as a Conservative and I vote as such. With today's political climate being as it is, you have to do your research before going into the voting booth, and choose your candidate accordingly.

I always vote. Decisions are made by those who show up, and when it comes to the voting booth, for me, it's too important *not* to show up.

I always vote. If I didn't all 4 grandparents would rise from their graves and kill me.
Without getting too political, I live one block east and one block south of the house Hillary Clinton grew up in. I went to the same grammar and high school as her. My mom knew her parents. I met her when I was very small but don't remember. _________________ Chicago. Museums, theater, a lake, Oprah, oh and one NL Central Champion baseball team. |

I have always voted but have mixed
emotions on it. I still cannot comprehend
why an electoral group of people can have
more weight than the general population's
majority vote.

Heck Yes! Always.
I am in the local political scene in my community so the need to vote is something I take seriously. As a matter of fact, I started a funny thing around here. When we moved here 18 months ago, I went to vote in my new polling location and joked with the little old ladies that tried to give me an "I Voted" sticker. I finally took it and put it on my forehead. Now I wear one on my forehead all day every time something comes up for a vote. The last time I was in there they told me how many others are doing that now and I have noticed people around town with them on their face too.
I always vote my conciense (sp). Geesh, can't get that word to look right.
Usually, I vote one party but sometimes I cross over when I need too. Around here we are VERY much a one party county. So much so that some people of the other party will cross over on the ticket because they think they have a better shot. Have to be careful when voting that they are living what they are saying and not just saying what we want to hear.

I vote and I think it's important if you have the right to do it. I live in Canada and we have Federal, Provincial and Local elections. I haven't been good with the local city elections since I have only voted in one in my life. I always vote in the National and Provincial elections. Usually I end up voting, as you say, for the lesser of the 2 evils.
Regardless of the country you live in, I feel that if you can vote it is your duty to do so. Also, it gives me the right to complain,lol.

~~~Sharon, many times I feel the same way about our USA elections.
The last time I had the *spark* was the Clinton/Gore ticket.
I really believed they would shake things up in Washington,
and they did...in more ways than one!
ICAM...I don't take anyone's opinion seriously if they say they
do not vote. Battles are still being waged for the process we
dismiss and take for granted.
Yes KTin, many take the right to vote for granted. At one time women and certain cultural groups couldn't vote. We are lucky to live in a time where we can. I still believe we all don't have equal rights now. But things use to be a lot worse for certain people.
Voting is compulsory here once you turn eighteen. You must vote or you will be fined. Unfortunately that really doesn't mean everyone votes as they should, some people simply scribble on their voting paper so in the long run it's not counted anyway. Personally, I feel people who do that are a waste of time. Whether you want things to change or stay the same, there is a need to vote sensibly. _________________
I never EVER knew that! WOW. What would we do in the USA if this was the case?? I can see many people being cute about it but my husband for one would vote sensibly and every time.
Now he only votes if he happens to think about it. It makes me sad because he doesn't make it a priority. If he had to then he would. How many others out there would?
I bug him all day about it too. For example, this August we have sooo many local elections that are contested and very important to pick the right person. I am dying just waiting for Tuesday to cast my ballot and find out who wins!
