The cast for the new season is due to be announced this coming Monday on Good Morning America. Any predictions? I've heard Florence Henderson(a.k.a. Mrs. Brady of Brady Bunch fame). She's always in their studio audience so I'd say she's a definite possibility; and she'd probably be the oldest competitor they've ever had. Go-Flo-Go!
Well, as usual, the DWTS cast includes a bunch of "celebrities" I've never heard of, but there are a few athletes as well. There are two recent Olympians(Maurice Greene and Misty May-Treanor) and an NFL star(Warren Sapp). Florence Henderson didn't make the cut but another actress who'll be the oldest competitor ever did----multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Oscar award winner Cloris Leachman, best known as Phyllis from The Mary Tyler Moore Show. This year's soap star is none other than the "queen of daytime" Susan Lucci. I was kind of hoping Linda Dano might show up on the list. She's done everything else after all.
The new season starts Monday September 22nd on ABC.

~~~Hi *t_l*
I watched TB announce them on GMA this morning.
I liked the "First time Julianne Hough will be the 'older' woman line.
Love that Max is back too!
Certainly the biggest age range, eh?
I am hopelessly addicted to this show...so it doesn't really
matter who's in the lineup.
I'm not sure LD would want to go thru that brutal training,
{I know I wouldn't!}...but, I am surprised Kelly Ripa hasn't been
recruited by now. Her acting bud TMcG from Hope & Faith
is on the list as well as her AMC pal Susan Lucci. This would
have been the one for "Super Kelly". Have you seen her muscles lately???
I'll be rooting for CL...She's an amazing actress...Loved her
since the MTM days and beyond. She is great as one of
*Charlie Harper*'s neighbors on Two & a Half Men.
After all...she created one of classic wacky neighbors....
Cloris could always ask her two pals who were both
trained dancers for some pointers:
When I told the DH that DWTS will be returning for another season, he asked "Are there any football guys on it?" I think he secretly enjoyed watching Jason last season but you didn't hear it from me!
I will be rooting for CL too ~ loved her both on MTM and her spin-off Phylis (as I did Rhoda). Among her more recent work, LOVED her in Spanglish (as Tea Leoni's mother (and Adam Sandler's MiL).
As for LD, I have to agree with *KG* ~ she would not be thrilled with the *work out* portion of the show. By her own admission, she hates exercise ~ another reason I LOVE this woman! However, I'm sure she would love to HOST in some capacity. Not sure if she tunes in regularly, but she did when her good friend Leeza Gibbons was a contestant. I'm sure Leeza told her how hard it is.
Will be here September 23 for our first *review*!!!
A lot of the people who sign up for DWTS do so because it challenges them and stretches them(no pun intended) beyond what they thought they could ever do. LD may not like exercise but I'd sure rather see her out on the dance floor than Susan Lucci with her false modesty and phony smile. At least Linda Dano deserved her Emmy. Something tells me Lucci won't be taking home the mirror ball.
I'll be rooting for "Phyllis" too but I'm not expecting her to go too far.
I'm also looking forward to DWTS this season. The thing I'm happiest about is Maksim returning. I wonder if some fans will complain about ringers this year?
Thanks for posting the info Tofu_lover!
Cloris Leachman was a riot but I have to say, dancing-wise, I was unimpressed with this group as a whole. Most of the celebs just looked so stiff and nervous. I'm thinking that maybe having them learn two dances in the first week was a bad idea...too much pressure too soon? I give them all credit for trying though. It has to be the most nerve-wracking thing in the world for a non-dancer to get up in front of millions on live TV and do what they do. It should be interesting to see how this season progresses.
I have to agree with you *tofu*. I was surprised at how stiff the ladies looked but I think they had a case of "nerves." Did Susan or Kim's facial expression ever change? No clear cut fave for me yet (other than Julianne and I thought her *younger man* partner was adorable!).
Is it too late for Linda to join the competition?
~~~I agree about too many *stiffies*.
I'm thinkin' tptb are having a hard time getting STARS to
participate, and we're left with DANCING WITH THE stars.
I enjoy watching Rocco cook...dance...not so much.
Jeff Ross...plz let him be one of the first to go.
"La Lucci" looked like she had a stick up her butt.
Ted McGinley was as bad as Penn Gillette. {and that's sayin' somethin'}
OTOH~Cloris was a delight! Very entertaining.
She even got to Len!! Mesmerized him with her ample boobage.
Some surprises for me: Warren Sapp and especially Brooke Burke!
Carrie Ann said she has great legs and a body for dancing...
DH agreed!! Did she really just have a baby 6mos ago? WOW!
Happily though...the "house faves" are on the same team,
so we both can *enjoy* them together.
Didn't Carrie Ann say that Brooke had 4 kids? She looked fab. But what's her claim to fame?
Cloris had Len so flustered, he called himself Cloris's *Toy Boy*!!!
I thought LaLucci's claim to fame as Erica Kane was that she was this great seductress. Granted, I know she was nervous but *stick up her butt* is an understatement . Linda had more grace twirling around TOPS than Lucci had on that dance floor. And that grimace...er...I mean...her smile...
Does anyone else think that Judi Evans would make a great contestant?

"La Lucci" looked like she had a stick up her butt.
Did she toss her hair? If she did, coupled with the "stick up her butt" look, then maybe it wasn't Susan Lucci out on that dance floor--speaking as someone who watched AMC for five years, that is vintage Erica Kane.
Cloris Leachman sounds like she was a riot! "Boy toy"...LOL!
Okay, I'm not tryin' to be mean but NO ~ Lucci didn't move her head in any way which only added to the stiffness. She did this weird little movement while waiting for the judges' criticism. I thought she was trying to flip her hair from the front to the back but it didn't move (either).
Len said "Toy Boy" which showed he was truly mesmerized!!!
