Is it true that Agnes Nixon had modeled the characters of Ada and Rachel after Mona and Erica Kane from "All My Children?" |

Having watched AMC in high school, my gut reaction would be "no" for the simple fact that Rachel evolved over the years, and Erica never did. From what I understand, she's a grandmother now but refuses to be called such, and never refers to her grandchildren as her grandchildren, but rather "my youngest daughter's daughter" and "my oldest daughter's sons."
Plus Erica has been married about seventeen times more than Rachel. She married, like, half of her spouses twice, and don't even get me started on how often during the years I watched she left poor Jackson Montgomery at the altar, or got engaged to him and broke it off when his brother/her dead fourth husband/Hungarian royalty got her attention away from Jackson.

Considering that Another World started its run in 1964 and All My Children in 1970, if anything I'd say it was the other way around. I also believe that every soap has its own version of "Erica". Those are the types of characters that stir the pot.....or the plot as it were. Rachel spent many years as Bay City's resident bitch before she became the central matriarchal figure of the show. |

Agnes Nixon didn't create AW, however, and
I seem to remember reading that she had
come up with the original concept for AMC
a few years before it aired.
Rachel as she first appeared WAS
based in many ways on Erica. _________________ These ain't PEACOCK feathers I'm shakin'!
