...and even though I don't watch CSI and don't know much about it beyond what you gals and my friend Sue and my dad have said, I found myself thinking this might be a combination tribute to Warrick/anthem for Grissom and the rest of the team as they bring his killer to justice.
"Your Guardian Angel" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
When I see your smile
Tears roll down my face
I can't replace
And now that I'm strong I have figured out
How this world turns cold and it breaks through my soul
And I know I'll find deep inside me I can be the one
I will never let you fall (let you fall)
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)
Even if saving you sends me to Heaven
It's okay
It's okay
It's okay
Seasons are changing and waves are crashing
And stars are falling all for us
Days grow longer and nights grow shorter
I can show you I'll be the one
I will never let you fall (let you fall)
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all (through it all)
Even if saving you sends me to Heaven
'Cause you're my
You're my, my
My true love
My whole heart
Please don't throw that away
'Cause I'm here for you
Please don't walk away
And please tell me you'll stay
Yeah, whoa
Stay
Whoa...
Use me as you will
Pull my strings just for a thrill
And I know I'll be okay
Though my skies are turning gray
I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to Heaven
I will never let you fall
I'll stand up with you forever
I'll be there for you through it all
Even if saving you sends me to Heaven
See, I was thinking that the skies had turned to gray for the team because they've lost one of their own: Warrick. The world has turned cold, and all of their souls are broken by his loss. But they're not going to let his death be in vain. They're going to get the guy who killed him, and prove it was the dirty cop on the take (if I'm understanding that right), so this is their promise to Warrick--they'll stand up with him forever, even in death. And in a sense, Warrick saved them all--that is, the LVPD--by telling the truth about the dirty cop, and saving them sent him to Heaven because he was murdered. The team will always remember Warrick ("When I see your smile/Tears roll down my face/I can't replace"), and the true love part can speak to the vibes that my dad always got from Warrick/Catherine, and also the love of the brotherhood and sisterhood of the team. They're not going to throw it away just because they've lost one of their own. That's only going to make them more determined to get justice for Warrick.
It's just a thought. I've had a lot of time on my hands, as you can see. Maybe I'm completely off base, but I thought I'd throw this out there anyway and see what you CSI fans think.
