Can anyone out there give me more information on Brent Collins other than his acting credits & Marfan syndrome? I've searched all over the Internet to no avail trying to find out more about the man behind our beloved Wallingford. The only places online I've found anything (and it wasn't much) was Wikipedia and his imdb profile.
For example, where was Brent from originally & at what point in his life did he know he wanted to be an actor? Were any of you lucky enough to get to meet him? (and if so, please share your stories)
Sorry if all this sounds incredibly nosy. It just seems to me there should be more info & stories about this wonderful actor who left this world way too soon.
First of all, no need to apologize ~ yer not bein' nosy, we all LOVED Wallingford and his portrayer, Brent Collins. And you are right, there is practically NO information or articles featuring Brent, other than what you mentioned.
I'm a HUGE Linda Dano fan (my avatar and siggy banner usually feature LD/Felicia but in honor of Judi Evans' debut on the hulu.com episodes, I am momentarily featuring JE in my avatar & siggy) and as you prolly already know, Linda and Brent were as close in real life as Felicia and Wallingford. I have a *vault* containing magazine articles that mostly feature Linda (and other AW stars) from about 1988 BUT I never ran across an article that featured Brent. I've even done an Ebay search through the many older soap magazines available for sale.
So...this is what little I know about Brent from reading tidbits here and there ~
~ I can't remember where I read it and may have it somewhere in the *vault* but Brent may have been from Kansas City. I read that Linda attended his funeral in KC;
~ He was a collector of Waterford crystal;
~ Before becoming an actor, he was a book editor with Random House;
Also (and forgive me for tooting my own horn), not sure if you've seen it but I made a *Felicia & Wallingford* tribute video that can be seen at YouTube ~
(Squeal!) I love the pics! That reminds me...the hat Brent was wearing in "The Golden Girls" eppy looked exactly like his "Wallingford" hat. (Sigh) I wonder if Linda got to keep it as a memento after his passing. That would be nice (although, kinda sad).
That's so wonderful that Linda and Brent were such good friends. I wonder if they had crazy adventures like their characters. Wouldn't that have been something? I've visited Linda's website & was happy to see Brent's picture & that she considered him family.
Wow! I never knew about the book editing or Waterford crystal before. Cool! Anyway, I'm so glad he went into acting!
Yes, I have seen & enjoyed your YouTube tribute video. Hard to get through it without tearing up. And by the way, you SHOULD toot your own
horn! I posted a compliment there under the screen name "paulsprettything."
Well, that's all for now.
Thank you for making me feel so welcome here!
Kewl beans ~ yer *paulsprettything*!! Thanks again for the kind words in the comments section of the video.
I got to thinking last night that I could be wrong about Kansas City ~ it might be the State of Kansas. If I run across anything in the vault, I will let you know.
I didn't realize that Brent was wearing a similar hat in that Golden Girls epi. I have that on tape thanks to the heads up from KT that it was going to be on Lifetime a few months back. It would be interesting to know where the hat finally came to rest and it would be wonderful if it's with Linda.
Hope to *talk* to you again soon!

You're very welcome!
In case you were wondering how I came up with the "paulsprettything" name, I'm a huge fan of Paul Stanley (Kiss) & David Bowie. One of my all-time favorite Bowie songs is one from earlier in his career called "Oh, You Pretty Things."
And to think I thought you came up with the name cuz yer significant other was named Paul!! I think we have other Bowie fans here on the board ~ Wendy I think (she's our board "Mother" and the owner). She'll be back soon ~ she's in the process of movin'. My fave Bowie song is "Under Pressure" (with Queen).
I'm "FelicisKid" at YT cuz ~ and no laughing ~ when I first discovered YT, I thought saving to your favorites meant you saved them to your 'puter favorites and I needed a name real quick I remembered that back when Felicia was looking for her daughter, my coloring and age (give or take a couple of years ) matched so I would jump up and down on the sofa and say "Pick me...pick me!" When she didn't (darn that Lorna! ), I decided that I must be her third daughter. Thank Gawd I'm a little more 'puter savvy now but boy back then....

Please forgive me while I go off-topic for a bit. There's a video on YouTube from when Brent played evil genius Mr. Big on ATWT. Being not too 'puter-savvy myself, I tried to copy & paste the URL to this post. At about 4:59 in this vid, Mr. Big gets a super-scary murderous look on his face.
Brent looked quite different without facial hair but his trademark was still there! I've always wondered about the ring he wore on his left hand. Was he married? Also, I've watched this vid once before but didn't notice the first time that little bit in between scenes from the local affiliate, KIRO. That's Seattle's CBS affiliate.
Wallingford was only supposed to be on Another World for 4 weeks but fan reaction prompted TPTB to keep him and lucky for us, he was on the show for over three years. I think he would have been on until the end...
BTW ~ you almost had it. You just need at the end.

I've also wondered if Brent was married or had kids. I think I liked him best with facial hair, but he was playing lovable Wally that point. Mr. Big was a dangerous criminal and just plain scary!
As for the vid link, I guess it wasn't bad for my very first try. _________________ WWWD? (What would Wallingford do?)
...I think they look like Natasha & Boris in this one!
*KG* ~ What were they doing when they were dressed like this?
Do you remember the infamous storylines when Felicia drove into Tall Boys (what was Tall Boys?) and the one where Felicia & Wally ended up in the cell with Caroline the gorilla? Can't wait to see them!
*pb* ~ Did you watch the AW Reunion show that aired on SN in 2003? Or maybe watched it on YT (it's in 7 parts, I think). Wally is definitely featured in the reunion show ~ Amy and I loved watching Stephen & Linda reminisce (and watch the clip) about the time SS, LD & BC got drunk when the AW prop guy put real booze in the *prop* bottles.
Whaddya think happened to Wally here?

No, I haven't had a chance to watch AW on AOL yet. I have the next 2 nites off, so I'm gonna start watching again ASAP.
Yes, the reunion show was awesome! So glad they included as many Wally clips as they did.
BTW, I love the animated Jeannie popping out of her bottle. Thank you for sharing it, KT.
OK. Now I'm gonna try & answer some questions. Remember I haven't seen these since they originally aired. (How sad is that?!) Possible spoilers ahead!
LOL! I don't remember offhand just what they were doing in this eppy but I can just imagine Linda saying to Brent, "Boris, dahlink!"
Spoiler:
I think this may have been the aftermath of a beating by one of Tony the Tuna's thugs. Poor Wally!
Spoiler:
Also, Tall Boys was a restaurant.
Well, I'll shut up for now. TTYL. _________________ WWWD? (What would Wallingford do?)
