Love it when I get the "Sorry, this video no longer available." NOT!!!
No matter ~ I saw the real deal last night. I couldn't help but think of another tiny blond with loose curls that James has been kissin' on recently.
I think AH would make a great Samantha cuzin ~ maybe the daughter of Jean Smart's sister. And the two sisters haven't spoken in years, making the cuzins virtual strangers. And after the same man.

Look Who's Wooing 'Samantha'

Fresh off the news that “Samantha Who?” received
an additional order of seven new scripts
comes a handsome new man
for Christina Applegate's conflicted leading lady.
James Tupper captured our attention as the mountain man that made ladies melt on “Men in Trees,”
and now he’s coming to sweep Samantha off her feet.
Tupper recently talked with me about his dashing new character, his “Men in Trees” sorrow and what’s cooking with his girlfriend Anne Heche.
Tracy Phillips: So you sweep into November sweeps as “Samantha Who?’s” new love interest.
James Tupper: I’m definitely her new love interest. There’s definitely some loving going on.
TP: You were initially signed for three episodes, but I have a feeling that won’t be enough…
JT: Yeah, we’ve shot four already and it’s open-ended, so I’m not sure how many we’ll do, but it’s going well.
TP: Tell me about your character, Owen.
JT: I play a real estate client of Samantha's. Owen is a billionaire and a philanthropist; he’s someone who’s ridiculously frivolous with money.
I don’t know many people who get to live like that but it’s fun playing.
TP: So who was your inspiration for the role, maybe James Bond or Bruce Wayne or something?
JT: [laughs] He’s no James Bond, but I love that you said that. He’s maybe more a Bill Gates on a good day.
TP: Samantha recently remembered that Todd (Barry Watson) had proposed to her right before her memory-swiping accident.
Do you think fans will be rooting for the old boyfriend now or the handsome new guy?
JT: Yeah, I was watching that episode with my girlfriend Anne [Heche] and her son Homer…and couldn’t believe it.
Talk about timing. I’m not sure who fans are going to root for, but I actually like Sam and Todd together, so I’m rooting for them!
TP: So give us some scoop on how you’ll be romancing "sweet" Sam.
JT: Well, it won’t be smooth--she struggles with him, she has to work hard to pull out her angelic side
when she’s with him. The “Bad” Sam is a lot of fun to watch, but I only get to see her when they say cut while I'm watching on set.
TP: What’s it like being the new guy on an established show where everyone already knows each other?
JT: Oh, Christina and everybody on set have been great, but what’s nerve-wracking is that all the ABC brass
comes down and watches you shoot…so then there’s added pressure to do really well.
TP: Speaking of ABC brass…many people believe “Men in Trees” was mishandled, moving time slots,
abruptly going on hiatus. What was the cast’s feeling when it ended the way it did?
JT: Well, it took me months to get over it. We set up our family out here [Vancouver], you know?
I would have loved to have seen it go on for years. We had such a loyal fan base too.
There was a rumor that the studio admitted to [creator] Jenny Bicks that they take the blame for the show’s failure,
and Jenny said, ‘How does that make me feel better?’
Who knows, [laughs] maybe there will be a remake five years down the line, and I can be in that one too.
TP: You mentioned Anne, how is your relationship with her going? [Tupper and Anne Heche fell in love on the set of “Men in Trees” in 2006]
JT: It’s so great. I’m working away, and she reads my lines with me every night. And she’s been cooking this month.
TP: This month?
JT: Yeah, when she’s not working, she throws all of her energy into one thing,
and this month it’s cooking, so she bought the “Joy of Cooking,”
and we’ve been staying in and making all kinds of breads and cookies and noodles, it’s great.
TP: What’s the one movie you think everyone should see?
JT: Oh, everyone should see my new movie! [laughs] It’s called “Me & Orson Welles,”
and I play Joseph Cotten; Richard Linklater directed it and it stars Zac Efron and Claire Danes.
It’s getting terrific reviews, I’m really proud of it.
James Tupper’s guest-starring turn on “Samantha Who?” begins this week on ABC.
Next Monday, look for guest star Mary-Kate Olsen as a bad girl whom Samantha tries to reform.
