Line of the episode, without a doubt, goes to Rachel: "This has not been a very good day for me. I mean, I've lost custody of Amanda, I don't know where my son is or if he's all right, and a man who's been dead ten years all of a sudden turns up alive upstairs."
I have to say, this is the first time I've liked Rachel since she didn't say "I told you so" to Jamie after he left Cecile, and that was several weeks ago. She knows it was Steve, and she's not going to stop until she proves it. I understand why Ada thought Rachel was crazy, but this time, Rachel is right. I'm thinking this is the beginning of the end for Rachel and Mitch (finally!). I loved the way Rachel handled that creep Eldon. I hope Rachel DOES confront Steve. And bravo for making it believable: Rachel recognized Steve by his voice. His voice wouldn't have changed, even though his face did (plastic surgery). I also noticed that when she was looking at the photo album, Rachel referred to Steve as her obsession, and said that she didn't know what real love was until Mac came into her life.
As for Steve, I just keep seeing Adam Chandler, and that was never more evident than today. Change the names of the characters, and it could have been All My Children in the late '80s or early '90s. I've always been impressed with DC's acting ability. I am not impressed with his portrayal of Steve Frame, though. And telling Alice that she MUST come back into his life? Yeah, that's gonna go over REAL well, Steve-a-rino--first you let her think you were dead for ten years, and then you're going to go to her and tell her she MUST come back into your life? I won't be surprised if, after that pronouncement, Alice declares that she MUST show Steven the door, immediately.
Sally was obviously drunk--she thought Melissa was a wonderful singer! (Okay, cheap shot, I know, but I HAD to take it, lol.) And then she blurts out chapter and verse on Cecile's pregnancy to Denny. Cecile would have an entire herd of cows if she knew that Sally was blabbing to Denny about the pregnancy, and that Cecile hasn't told Sandy yet, although she thinks Sandy is the father, and then there's the whole Jamie angle: Cecile doesn't know that Sally blabbed to Jamie either! Denny and Sally are a total turnoff. I don't like either of them. And Sally's a bigger idiot than I thought if she really believes that Denny was only asking her all those questions about her mother, Jamie, Mac, and the drug rehab clinic because he cares about the people that she cares about.
The only bigger turnoff in this episode was CreepyJerry and Rhonda and Rhonda's Neanderthal brother Ed. He did have a few valid points, especially about walking after dark alone, but he was kind of treating her like she was about 10 years old.
Rachel also made a good point to Marianne: don't rush into anything, because if you make a mistake, it can be hard to remedy afterwards. Marianne would do well to listen to that, and also to what Pat said in the previous episode about having realistic expectations about love and relationships and not putting Rick or Jamie on a pedestal.
