I thought it would be fun to post some "interactive" fan fiction ~ a story to which all of us *writers* and non-writers could contribute.  I have penned the first *chapter* so to speak and would love it if you guys chimed in.  There are no set rules.  You can add to what I already wrote or take up another part.  It can be in "script" form or "novel" form ~ however you prefer to write.  You can add new characters or bring back old ones.  Just have fun!

Special Note to *pb*:  I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty to incorporate some of your recent fan fiction into this one.

June 26, 1999

When the past collides with the present....

It was nearly noon when Felicia Gallant began to stir.  She moaned softly as she rolled over in her satin sheets and came face-to-face with Sergei "Radzinsky with a Z."

"And how is beautiful Felicity on this morning?" Sergei asked sleepily in his trademark thick Russian accent.

"Felicity?" Felicia asked aloud while pulling back from Sergei's face.

"Yes, my beautiful Granny Fady" Sergei said with a wicked cackle as he grabbed her face.

Felicia stared at him in disbelief as she tried to break free from his hold.  "Granny?"  Was he mocking her?  She was about to tell him to get the h*ll out of her bed when he suddenly turned into Endora from Bewitched.

"That'll teach you to rob the cradle," Endora hissed before disappearing into thin air.  Felicia swiped her hand in the empty space in front of her as if to feel for Endora/Sergei.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Felicia!"

It was Wally's voice.  Felicia would recognize it anywhere.

"Wally, where ARE you?"  Felicia cried out.

"Let me in.  I'm at the front door,"  Wally called out to her from the hallway.

Felicia ran to the door and opened it as quickly as she could.  Standing in the doorway was Cass Winthrop.  Standing beside him with her arms fully wrapped around his waist was Carolyn the gorilla.

*****

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Felicia bolted up in bed, uncertain as to whether there was a REAL knock at the door or if she was still dreaming.  She tossed back the satin covers, grabbed her robe, wrapped it around herself and was just about to fly out of the bedroom when it hit her.  She turned around slowly and glanced back at the bed she had just vacated.  If this was a dream, then she was still having it because Sergei "Radzinsky with a Z" was definitely laying there.   Felicia tip-toed over and stole a quick peek under the covers.  Nope, no sign of Endora.  Just Sergei.  Wrapped in nothing but a string of red feathers.  It was all coming back to her now.  What started as a "caught up in the moment" little kiss at Cass's wedding turned into a night of passion the likes of which Felicia had not experienced since Alexander Nikos.  Yeah, he might have been a Carl-hating, Rachel-kidnapping, Felicia-obsessed psychopath but no one made love with more vigor at 30,000 feet than Alexander Nikos.  Or Sergei at sea level.  At one point, Felicia thought she was going to pass out from the {pfffffffft!}

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK (persistent little bugger)

Felicia ran for the door.  She looked radiant as she sashayed through her Love Tower suite in her white silk robe and matching slippers.  [This is a soap opera ~ ALL the women look radiant after a night of mad, passionate love.  They wake up in full make-up and beautifully coiffed hair.  No self-respecting soap diva ever wakes up with bed-head or morning breath.]

The young woman who had been knocking had already turned to walk away and spun around when Felicia finally, but with hesitation, opened the door.  Felicia stared at her in disbelief for a moment then blinked her eyes really hard.  At first glance, she thought it was Lorna, or a least Lorna the way she looked when she first arrived in Bay City Wink.  At second glance, Felicia noticed the woman was actually a bit shorter, a *teensy* bit heavier and had curlier hair.  Felicia missed Lorna more than she could say.

"I'm sorry to bother you, Miss Gallant," the woman said with a genuine smile.  She was kinda cute, Felicia thought to herself.

"Can I help you?"  Felicia inquired.

"I'm Nanette."  No name recognition from Felicia.  "Nanette (she repeated)...Cass Winthrop's new legal assistant?  We met last week in his office."

"Oh, yes, Nanette.  I'm sorry, we met so briefly, I had forgotten."  Cass finally wised up and realized that he couldn't possibly run a law office without a bona fide legal assistant.  And he didn't even have to advertise.  Nanette just showed up at his office about two weeks ago, stellar resumé in hand, and Cass all but hired her on the spot.  When Felicia met her, Nanette was so buried in years of piled up legal documents, Felicia barely got a look at her face.

"Here are the contracts Mr. Winthrop wanted sent over while he was on his honeymoon.  He says they're the standard contract docs, nothing special.  However, if you take a look at the last page, you'll notice he added a stipulation that you are to receive a sizable bonus when Brava publishes an excerpt in a future issue.  As much as he likes Cory Publishing, he said they weren't about to get a freebie.  Especially with such an important subject."

Nanette said that last sentence with the same genuine smile she had displayed earlier, then added, "If you need some help with book, Miss Gallant, I would be more than happy to do some work for you on the side.  Free of charge.  I know how important Wally was to you and if there's anything I can do to help you with your memoir, please don't hesitate to call on me."

"First of all, call me 'Felicia,' and secondly, how do you know about Wally?" Felicia inquired. "Did Cass tell you about him?"

Knowing she just about blew it, Nanette had to think fast to cover herself.  "Yes, as a matter of fact, we had a long conversation about the three of you.  What did you call yourselves, 'The Three Musketeers?'"  Nanette made a mental note to bring up the subject with her employer so that it would look as though Cass initiated the conversation.  Years of working with attorneys taught her the fine art of being able to manipulate the conversation in just that way.  No need for Felicia Gallant to know that she had been cyber-stalking her for years and there was no part of her life that Nanette didn't know.

Nanette handed Felicia the large manila envelope and said her goodbyes.

Felicia closed the door and pressed the envelope against her heart.  Inside she knew was the contract for the most important book she would write in years, perhaps in her whole life ~  "Wallingford & Me:  A Memoir by Felicia Gallant."  Because she wanted to do right by Wally and wanted to make sure that their history was told in all the glory it deserved, she made her own mental note to look for the fan letter she had received some time ago.  It was a request by a fan that she write her and Wally's story (with Cass thrown in for good measure).  "There isn't enough of Wally on the internet" the fan wrote.  Felicia thought she remembered the letter being on pink stationery and she was hoping to be able to contact the writer and make inquiry as to whether she wanted to help her with the book, perhaps with research.  And now that Nanette had graciously offered her services, Felicia was confident that she would be able to do the story justice.  When she told Cass about her desires to write a book about her "capers" and friendship with Wally, he was so excited and supportive that he put all other work, and personal matters, aside to make sure that the contract was drawn up immediately.  Surprisingly, Lila was only slightly annoyed, knowing that if she didn't allow Cass to do this for Felicia, he wouldn't be able to devote his attentions to her or their wedding.

Once Cass felt confident that he had the best book deal possible worked out for Felicia, and barring a few last minute "glitches," the wedding finally took place and was but a sweet memory for Felicia, though it was hard for her to forget that gorilla smell that lingered about Cass the rest of the day.  It added a whole new meaning to his self-described "animal musk."  Also, and Felicia was keeping this to herself for now, she was certain that after the ceremony, she had witnessed Charlie locked in an embrace with Frankie.  But because no one else, not even Charlie, had mentioned seeing Frankie, or Anne O'Donnell for that matter, at Foster Park yesterday, Felicia was keeping that memory to herself.  For now.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

Either Nanette had forgotten something or her suite was turning into Grand Central Station.  Checking her robe, Felicia opened the door.

For the second time that morning, Felicia Gallant was uncertain as to whether or not she was lost in a dream.  Standing before her was a man she had not set eyes on in nearly nine years.  Yes, he was older, grayer, thinner and, if possible, taller, but she had no doubt she was staring into the pale blue eyes of Hubby #3.

"Mitch!" Felicia gasped as a boa of red feathers encircled her body and a young man's arm began to pull her backward into the apartment.

When the past collides with the present....

As a drunken Sergei drags Felicia back inside, he makes an attempt to slam the door in Mitch's face. Mitch, however, bursts into the room.

Mitch: (angrily) Let go of my woman!

Sergei: (sneers) She's mine...my dear, sweet (hiccups) Granny Fady.

Felicia manages to free herself from Sergei's grasp.

Felicia: (to both) Now, wait a minute! I'm nobody's property. I'm my own woman...and don't either of you ever forget it!

Sergei: (stammers) B-but you were with me last night. (leers at her) And I didn't know you were so acrobatic!

Incensed, Mitch punches Sergei in the jaw, which sends him reeling. Not to be outdone, Sergei dusts himself off and lunges at his assailant. Panicking, Felicia tries to step between them.

Felicia: (shrieks) Stop it, both of you!

Too late, Sergei strikes Felicia with a blow meant for Mitch. Mitch runs to Felicia, who's now sprawled on the floor.

Mitch: (shaking her) Felicia! Felicia! She's out cold! (glares at Sergei) Well, I hope you're proud of yourself!

As the two men continue to stare daggers at each other, Felicia finds herself moving away from her body and walking through what appear to be clouds. Suddenly, she hears a voice from her past. Hardly daring to hope, she calls out.

Felicia: Wally?

To her great amazement, Wallingford, who hasn't aged a day, is walking toward her. Overjoyed, she runs toward him.

Felicia: (hugging him) Wally! It really is you!

Wally: (surprised) Felicia! What are you doing here? It's not your time yet.

Felicia: I was trying to stop a fight and...well, it's a long story! (near tears) Oh, Wally! I've missed you so!

Wally: (takes both her hands in his) Felicia, do you remember when I told you I'd never leave you?

Felicia: (sadly) Yes, but you did anyway.

Wally: (sighs) Well, that couldn't be helped, but I'll have you know I've been with you in spirit all this time!

Felicia: I don't know how much time we have in this place..and there's so much I have to tell you, Wally.

Wally grins and walks with her toward a tree stump.

Wally: Have a seat, then. You know you can tell me anything.

Felicia and Wally are sitting side-by-side on the tree stump.  Wally has both of Felicia's hands in his.

Felicia: (quietly) That's when the drinking started.

Wally:  Whoa...wait a minute, Felicia.  Let's back up a bit. (jumping off the stump)  First, how could anyone think that you were capable of murder and how on earth did that jury find you guilty?  Especially when Cass did such a great job defending you?

Felicia: I know, Wally, but I was found innocent eventually.

Wally:  And you and Mitch.  Honey, how come that didn't work?  You were so gaga over him and he was kinda goofy over you too. (taking Felicia's hands again) I am glad though that my pals at the racetrack were able to make that such a special day for you.  Would have loved to have been there to give you away.  And you know how much I loved the ponies.  Whew....I miss those days.

Felicia: (sadly)  You were there, Wally.  We felt you all around us.  (squinting)  Is it always so bright in here?

Wally:  (looking upward) I've mentioned that to The Powers That Be ~ they outta hand out sunglasses upon admission.  (focusing) So you and Mitch parted ways cuz of this Luke fella.  Felicia, how come you never told me about him?  Or that you ever had a baby?  What is her name...Lorna?

Felicia: Oh, Wally, I didn't tell anyone.  I think it was all so painful that I just buried it deep inside.  It wasn't until shortly before Luke showed up in Bay City that it all came back to me.  You would have loved Luke, Wally.  And he would have loved you.  Losing Luke, it was like losing you all over again.  Only this time I...well...I just couldn't handle it at all, Wally.  I...started drinking.  A lot.

Wally: Well, you weren't exactly a teetotaler before, Felicia.  Remember that time you, me and Cass cracked open that bottle of Reginald Love's "private reserve?"  We sure did get blottoed on that stuff, didn't we?  I thought Cass & I were going to have to carry you up to your suite....

Felicia: (looking irritated and embarrassed) Wally, I'm trying to tell you something here!

Wally:  (looking into Felicia's eyes, which were filling with tears)  I know Felicia.  That when Luke Castigliano died, you went a little over the edge.  That's understandable, honey.  Anyone would have done the same thing...

Felicia: (her voice rising)  No, Wally!!  They wouldn't have done the same thing!  I did awful things.  I said awful things.  To my friends, to my family, to CASS!  My own daughter ended up...(stops talking abruptly)  Wally, how do you know Luke's last name?  I never told you his last name.

Wally: (stammering)  I...uh...well...honey, we need to talk...

Mitch's voice: (gently shaking Felicia)  Felicia!  Felicia!  (scuffling noises then angrily)  Back away, Smirnoff, before I drop-kick you back to the Motherland!

Wally:  (grabbing Felicia's hand and pulling her away from the light and into the clouds)  Hurry, there's so much more I have to tell you and the others have been patiently waiting to talk to you too.

Felicia:  The others?

Spoiler:

Am I thinking of the right scene? The one where BC, LD & SS were plastered for real? LOL!

I'm loving this story!

Spoiler:

Yup ~ dat be the scene.  In the actual episode, Cass & Wally excused themselves when Mitch showed up (he had just returned from Alaska).  Mitch then asked Felicia if she was drunk, she said no and the scene and show continued.  But I thought it would be more fun to take what happened in r/l and add it to the story!

I hope no one is offended by the following chapter. Nothing dirty, tho...I promise!

*     *     *

Felicia stands there for a moment, feeling apprehensive.

Felicia: What others, Wally?

Wally: All your friends and loved ones...those of us who've passed on, I mean. There's nothing to be nervous about, Felicia. (takes her hand again) I'll be right here beside you.

Felicia: I..I suppose you're right.

Wally: (grins) I'm always right!

Felicia can't help giggling.

Wally: Feel better now?

Felicia: Yes. Thanks, Wally.

Felicia can still faintly hear Mitch and Sergei arguing about her.

Mitch: Felicia, c'mon! Please open your eyes!

Sergei: (slurring) Leave Granny Fady alone!

Mitch: Granny Fady? (pause) What have you been smoking, man?

Sergei: (hiccups) I meant to say Franny Brady...no, Manny Lady...no...

Mitch gently turns Felicia over. She is bleeding profusely from her blow to the head.

Mitch: (quietly) Oh, dear God!

The conversation fades. Wally smirks at Felicia.

Wally: Granny?!

Felicia: He meant to say Fanny.

Wally: (rolls his eyes) Sure! And I'm Richard "Jaws" Kiel!

At that moment, a man resembling Mel Brooks approaches Felicia and Wally.

Man: Good morning, Wallingford!

Wally: (cheerfully) Hi, Chief! How goes it?

Man: Fine, fine.

Wally: (indicating Felicia) Oh, this is...

Man: ...Felicia Gallant, also known as Fanny Grady.

Felicia's jaw drops in surprise.

Felicia: How do you know that? Have we met?

Man: (smiles) Well...not officially. Wally, would you like to do the honors?

Wally: Sure! Felicia, this is God.

Felicia: (stammers) God? As in...oh, my...I...I'd say "How do You do?" but I'm not sure if that's appropriate in this case.

God: (smiles) There's no need to be so formal, dear.

Felicia: (relaxing a bit) You look just like Mel Brooks!

God: You mean he looks just like me. (pause) Did you expect me to resemble George Burns? Most people do.

Felicia laughs out loud.

Felicia: (thinking) Wow! God has a great sense of humor!

God: Wally, could I talk to you for a moment?

Wally: Sure, Chief! (pats Felicia's hand) I'll be right back.

God and Wally walk toward a rose garden. Suddenly, two chairs appear.

God: Sit down, Wally. There's something I need to tell you.

Wally: Is something wrong?

God: No, but it concerns Felicia's visit.

Wally: (dejectedly) Does she have to go back so soon?

God: (slowly) No, Wally. She won't be going back at all. In fact, it's time for her to join us up here.

Wally's mouth opens and closes several times, but no words will come out. For once in his afterlife, he's speechless.

Felicia sat down on a tree stump to wait for Wally.  She couldn't help but notice that the stump looked exactly like the one she and Wally were sitting on earlier.  She was a bit confused as she thought she had moved from this location.  All alone, she was a little frightened and her head was starting to hurt.  And she thought she could smell roses.

*    *    *

Meanwhile...Mitch & Sergei were still trying to contend with an unconscious Felicia.

Mitch: (on telephone with 911 operator)  Okay.  Yes.  Please hurry, there's a lot of blood.  Yes.  Forehead.  No.  We won't move her.  (looking at Sergei who has a towel to Felicia's head) Yes, we will continue to apply pressure.  Thank you.

Sergei: (sobering up and to Felicia)  Oh, kind, beautiful, generous lady.  Please wake up.  Please yell to Sergei.

Mitch: (pushing Sergei away and kneeling by Felicia, applying pressure)  Felicia, wake up honey.  C'mon, it's Mitch.  Don't you want to know why I'm here?

Sergei:  Da.  Why are you here?  Felicia not mention you visit.

Mitch: (irritably)  I thought it was time I returned to Bay City to see my son and granddaughter.

The last thing Mitch wanted to do was make small talk with Sergei (or anyone else for that matter) but seeing his ex-wife like this, very pale and unresponsive, reminded him of the shooting at her 40th birthday party when he tried to wake her after finding her passed out next to the body.  Only this time, he would be more than happy if Felicia sat up and said "I've shot Jason."

Sergei:  Ah, yes.  Matt Cory's baby with Cass Winthrop's wife.

Mitch:  (more irritably)  No, Matt Cory's baby with Matt Cory's wife.

Sergei: (smugly)  Nyet.  Yesterday Cass Winthrop marry Lila Cory in park with gorilla.

Mitch shot Sergei a look with all the emotion of Mount Rushmore and decided to change the subject since the current one made him want to stand up and clock this comrade in the jaw a second time.

Mitch:  (continuing to apply pressure and stroking Felicia's face, which was alarmingly cold to the touch)  So, Smirnoff, you work for an escort service or what?

Sergei:  (surprised) Sergei not escort.  Sergei husband.

Mitch: (confused)  Husband of who?  Don't tell me ~ Lila.  She seems to have a collection of you guys.

Sergei: (proudly and stroking Felicia's arm)  No, husband of Felicia Gallant.  She is my inspiration, my muse.

Mitch decided that maybe his stay in Bay City would not be as brief as he had planned.  And where was that ambulance?

Mitch:  (leaning close enough to Felicia to get a familiar whiff of her Norell perfume, then whispering)  Felicia?  Hey, Fel-...  (then anxiously)  I don't think she's breathing!  Felicia!

Suddenly, Mitch Blake thought he could smell roses....
