For those who watched AW's original run,
which single episode did you dislike the
most?
Spoiler:
My most hated, never-want-to-see-again
episode, hands down and no contest, is
FRANKIE'S MURDER!!!!!!
Not only did we lose a beloved character,
but the way she was killed was so disgusting.
Joe Barbara called it "Gross and too violent."
ICAM!!!
AW's final episode was in many ways its worst because on so many levels it just plain sucked. A soap as great as ANOTHER WORLD once was deserved a better send-off than Cass marrying some trampy bimbette and Rachel flipping off the lights. Frankie's murder was far and away THE WORST episode AW ever produced. It ripped out my heart and changed my opinion of the show forever. I stopped watching because of it and didn't tune in again until they brought Alice Barrett back near the end but by then it was too late; the damage had been done. I'm sure not too many people agree with me but I almost saw the end of AW as a mercy cancellation. My feeling was, better no ANOTHER WORLD at all than one without Cass and Frankie.
I agree with the majority ~ Frankie's death was the most difficult episode to watch, and therefore one I disliked the most. To this day, I cannot watch it again. I can (and have) watched the stuff around it but cannot watch her actual death. It was totally senseless and far too brutal.
As for the last epi ~ I too was very disappointed in it. I had hoped for montages of characters or storylines and was hoping we'd see some fave characters return for the episode or even the last week. And who thought up the Carolyn the Gorilla storyline? There was soooo much more they could have done before marrying Cass off to Lila. For crying out loud, I would have rather of had Cecile kidnap Cass in one last pathetic madcap attempt to finally "get" Cass. A Lila/Cecile smack down would have been a hoot and can you imagine the fun Felicia would have had watching that since she never cared for either woman? Another World, and its loyal fans, deserved so much more.

It's so funny that you said what you did. I've always considered Lila to be just another "brunette" version of Cecile, which made it all the more insulting to me that Cass would end up with her. I know that the pairing of Cass and Cecile was played largely for comic relief but how I longed for Cass to just tell her off once and for all. So many times she'd say something derogatory about Frankie(after Frankie and Cass were married) or imply that Cass wasn't being "satisfied" and I'd want Cass to get serious and be like: "Enough! You're talking about my wife, the woman I love! Get out of my life, Cecile, AND STAY OUT!!!"
As for Carolyn the Gorilla, I've read that that was a nod to a previous storyline(from the Cass/Felicia/Wally days I believe) and can be attributed to the Cullitons who were a husband and wife writing team for AW back in the day.
And you are so right, montages were a must. How could TPTB not have known that!
Yes I agree the episode that Frankie died was very depressing. Also the gorilla in the final show was stupid IMO. It was a waste of time that could have been spend talking about the shows history.
For me the worst show was when Josie had sex with her brother-in-law Cameron. It seemed very out of character for her to me. I was really glad Amy and Tim were gone by then.
