ABC plans to "name drop"/drop the names of the new DWTS cast during its Sunday lineup this coming Sunday, February 8th. I guess that's one way to get people to tune in to EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, and BROTHERS AND SISTERS. Donny Osmond announced on Bonnie Hunt's show that he was doing DWTS. Any guess as to who this season's other celebs might be? Personally, I'd still love to see Linda Dano go for it(she's done just about everything else). If Cloris Leachman could do it I think anyone could.

Thanks for the info Tofu Lover.  I will look forward to hearing what stars and dancers will be on this year.  I'm hoping there won't be a 90 year old star.  Personally I watch to see people seriously compete.

Here's the line-up (the inclusion of Nancy O'Dell and Julianne Hough will insure that I will get to watch it on HDTV since the DH will be tuning in to watch both ladies).

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The new season of "Dancing Season with the Stars" will feature three couples and - with the show's touch for the improbable - one computer guru.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is among 13 celebrities who will compete on the ABC series' eighth season that begins March 9, the network said Sunday.

Romantic relationships may be put to the test this time around, with couples taking to the dance floor with and against each other.

Pop star Jewel and her husband, rodeo champion Ty Murray, will compete for bragging rights, ABC said, while country singer Chuck Wicks will take the floor with his girlfriend, two-time "Dancing with the Stars" champion Julianne Hough.

Last November, Hough had said she planned to focus on her newly launched country music career and didn't plan to return to the show.

Professional dancers and series regulars Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff, who are newly engaged, will be waltzing in the arms of others.

Olympic gold-medal gymnast Shawn Johnson gets to make her mark just by showing up: At 17, she's the youngest competitor to date, ABC said.

Another star athlete in the field is Lawrence Taylor, the former New York Giant and Hall of Famer.

The other celebrity hoofers are Go-Go's lead singer Belinda Carlisle; rapper Lil' Kim; actress Denise Richards; actor-comedian David Alan Grier (Comedy Central's "Chocolate News"); Gilles Marini, who played the neighbor ogled by Kim Cattrall's Samantha in the "Sex and the City" film; Steve-O (MTV's "Wildboyz") and TV host Nancy O'Dell of "Access Hollywood."

"Dancing with the Stars" is hosted by Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris, with Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba judging the contestants.

As usual there are several folks on the list that I've never heard of. I'm also wondering what happened to Donny Osmond? Maybe he was a red herring, or maybe the suits at ABC didn't appreciate him flapping his gums and replaced him at the last minute. No matter as I'm sure I'll be watching anyway. Should be an interesting season.

Just heard that Nancy O'Dell and Jewel have been sidelined by injuries before this gig has even started. Supposedly both will be replaced but ABC is saving the reveal for Monday's premiere. The way the "stars" keep dropping on this show I'm surprised the producers can still find anyone who's willing to risk it!

~~~I'm a sucker for this one too......
I've heard Sherri on The View saying she'd love to do DWTS.  Maybe she'll be a replacement.  Rolling Eyes
Well, if Yahoo news is to be believed the replacements for Nancy O'Dell and Jewel will be recent "Bachelor" reject Melissa Rycroft(never watched that show so I'm sure she's a perfectly nice person; I only say "reject" in the sense that she was the girl "the bachelor" proposed to and then dumped) and former "The Girls Next Door" star Holly Madison(again, not familiar with the show or her but I'll assume she's no Cloris Leachman....which wouldn't be a bad thing as I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Leachman's stint on DWTS). Wouldn't it be poetic justice if Bachelor girl/Melissa were to win....at any rate I just hope she's not humiliated a second time on national television. Should be another interesting season!
Looks aside, he was one of the only "stars" who showed any real potential (and his son was so adorable). Felt sorry for Jewel's husband and the Apple guy; they were, in a word, awful but both seemed to be trying so hard. As a last minute replacement Melissa Rycroft was a pleasant surprise, but that reality show bimbo(Holly) has to go. At this point can't imagine who will ultimately end up with the disco ball.
Been a busy week and I'm a bit behind on the DVR; however, even though I haven't watched the season premiere, I can get the *Holly* visual if her dancin' reminded you of LaLucci.
I think the biggest surprise of this season is Melissa Rycroft...
If the competition continues to go the way it has so far it will be between Gilles and Melissa in the finals. I don't see that much potential in the other dancers. And the mismatch of the season(aside from Karina and Steve the Apple guy, who I believe will be history after tonight) has to be Maks and Denise Richards. Aside from the glaring lack of chemistry between them, he has always had strong partners(Laila Ali, Mel B, Misty Mae for example) and she just does not measure up. I feel sorry for him this time out; he doesn't even seem like his usual Maks self(then again, maybe it's the love bug as he and Karina did become engaged since last season).
Would have lost that bet. Never thought a Go-Go would be the first to go-go. Even the Apple guy looked shocked.
