Hey, everybody!
It's post-Thanksgiving in 1992, and the heat is back on (literally) at Bayview Court and starting to rise (figuratively) for Frankie and Cass (who are caught up in Christy and Douglas's relationship and not having met Douglas yet); for Felicia (who is emotionally hemorrhaging now that Sally Madison has been revealed as Luke's killer, to the concern of Rachel, Paulina, and Jenna); and for Lorna and Kevin (who are off on this mystery trip, but not before Lorna has a nightmare).
And in 1990, Cass becomes even more determined to prove to Frankie that they belong together, while Frankie finally tells Cass the main reason that she's afraid to be with him. But don't worry--Cass isn't going to let Frankie make a habit (hint, hint) of running. Not anymore!
Thanks to Janie for the 1992 scenes and, fellow Frame and Winthrop fanatics, you can make my night...actually, my entire week...if you'd like to dish about this week's 1990 scenes. Honestly, it just keeps getting better from here!
Enjoy!

Jenna and Dean--The Heat Returns, and a Phone Call From Felicia
Jenna wakes Dean up the morning after Thanksgiving when she hears a noise. He sleepily tells her it's just the pipes, then comes fully awake upon realizing it's the pipes. He and Jenna rejoice, since they slept wearing their coats and ski hats and bundled under blankets. Jenna knew that Ryan wouldn't let them turn into popsicles. Dean says it's no fun having your guests come over for Thanksgiving dinner and eat dinner in their coats. When Jenna says she never wants to look at another pumpkin pie ever again, Dean replies that he was just about to go get her some pumpkin pie for breakfast in bed. She starts laughing and jokingly puts her hands on the sides of his neck and shakes him as if choking him. Dean then gets serious and says he doesn't think anybody minded. They then talk about Felicia and how she was looking to the future again, and Jenna says she finally has her mom back. The phone rings, and Jenna answers. It's Felicia, asking Jenna to come to the TV studio right away. Jenna asks what's going on, but Felicia simply says she'll explain it all when Jenna gets there and hangs up. Jenna tells Dean Felicia hung up on her. He asks what's going on, and Jenna replies that she has no idea. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Felicia Plans to Discuss Sally Madison's Murderous Ways on Her Talk Show
Felicia shocks and alarms Rachel and Paulina when she tells them that she cancelled the romance writers who were supposed to be her guests so that she can discuss Sally Madison murdering Luke and the way she was apprehended with help from Kevin and Jake, and in front of Lorna and Jenna. Jake arrives to be one of Felicia's guests. Paulina is not happy, first because Jake is supposed to be resting, and secondly because she doubts Jake when he says that he wants to do this partly to make up for all the trouble he gave Kevin all these months. When Iris arrives to drop off some papers for Rachel and learns about the plan, she too is horrified. Rachel tries to suggest this is Felicia's way of working through the truth, but Iris replies that people stop to look at car accidents but that doesn't mean you should encourage them to do that. Felicia tells Paulina to make sure and play up the brothers angle regarding Kevin and Jake, then thanks Jake for his part in bringing Sally Madison to justice. Iris makes a snide comment about Jake finally finding his 15 minutes of fame to Paulina, but Paulina insists that's not why Jake is doing this. Iris tells Paulina not to waste her time trying to convince Iris that Jake has suddenly grown a conscience. Felicia tells Paulina that she couldn't reach Lorna and Kevin, who are on their trip, but that besides Jake, Jenna will also be on the show, and she's on her way to the studio right now, so Paulina is to tell Felicia when Jenna arrives. After Felicia heads to makeup, Rachel and Paulina worriedly conference together about Felicia's behavior. Rachel says this is not like Felicia at all, and Felicia doesn't like anything that smacks of sensationalism. Paulina fears Felicia will fall apart under all of the pressure. Rachel says that she and Paulina will have to keep an eye on Felicia and bail her out if that does happen. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Lorna and Kevin--A Nightmare and a Road Trip
Lorna awakens from a nightmare in which she sees herself dead after having fallen out a window. Kevin comforts her and tells her that makes sense, since that almost really did happen to her. They're in Kevin's car, and after Lorna assures Kevin that she's all right, Kevin tells her that he's taking her to the most peaceful place he knows and they're going to shut out the world. Lorna tells Kevin that the way she travels, getting there is half the fun and asks if he's ever heard of an airplane. Kevin replies that where they're going, it's easier to just hit the road, and you need a four-wheel drive to get there. Lorna asks if she looks like Mountain Woman to Kevin. Kevin replies that he's keeping an open mind. When Lorna says she's so hungry she could rip off vending machines, Kevin says they'll stop for food first. Lorna panics because they didn't pack anything and she has nothing to change into, but Kevin tells her it doesn't matter because nothing in her closet would work for where they're going anywhere, and they'll stop off at the next Army-Navy store they come to and get Lorna some loose sweaters and flannels and jeans and she would look sensational in a pair of long johns. Lorna says she draws the line at Army boots and long johns, and Kevin just smiles. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Frankie and Cass 1992--My Inner Warning Light Is Flashing
Cass is frustrated because the loopholes in estate law are causing problems with Douglas's will, since he won't name Christy the executor of his will. Frankie asks why Christy is not the executor, and Cass replies that it's because Christy says Douglas has a very complicated contract with his publisher, and she and Douglas don't want the will to end up in probate. Frankie asks if Cass has seen this contract, and he tells her he hasn't yet. Frankie asks when Cass is going to meet Douglas. Cass says that Christy says it will be soon. Frankie wonders why Christy is keeping Douglas from Frankie and Cass. Cass says some people have a difficult time dealing with wills and maybe Douglas is one of them. But Frankie has an idea: it's a real coincidence, but both Frankie and Cass have things that need to be dropped off at Douglas and Christy's house. Cass doesn't think it's a good idea for them to go to the Carsons' invited. Frankie says she'll go alone then, but Cass stops her, telling her that if she does that, then Christy will know she's snooping around. At least Cass has a legitimate excuse to be there. Frankie challenges Cass to use the excuse. She knows that Cass is just as anxious as she is to meet Douglas. Frankie is worried about Christy; she has this weird feeling that something isn't right with Christy and Douglas. Her inner warning light is flashing. She reminds Cass of the way that Christy was flirting with Ryan at TOPS on Thanksgiving. Cass tells Frankie she reads something into everything Christy does. Frankie retorts that she doesn't have a choice because Christy doesn't tell her anything about their life. Frankie then wonders if maybe Douglas doesn't exist at all. Maybe Christy made him up. It doesn't make sense to Frankie that Christy doesn't want Douglas to meet Frankie or Cass because Frankie couldn't wait for Christy to know Cass. Then Frankie suggests that maybe Christy is embarrassed about something with Douglas...or maybe she's embarrassed about Frankie and thinks Frankie is too big of a flake for a big brain like Douglas. Cass assures Frankie that that's not it. Frankie then wonders if Douglas wants Christy all to himself. Cass wishes Frankie would stop speculating and give Christy some time. Frankie replies that she and Christy never used to keep secrets, and that she has given Christy time and now it's time for action. Frankie's sorry the election is over because she and Cass could have used that, canvassing for the candidates. She asks Cass to please go to the Carsons' and see if Douglas is there, and if Douglas isn't there, then Frankie will accept that it wasn't meant to be and they'll keep it for another day. Cass agrees to go. Frankie asks if he'll go right now. Cass says if he doesn't go right now, he won't get a moment's peace. Frankie helps him on with his coat, kisses him, and thanks him for going, assuring him that he doesn't have to peek in any windows if Douglas isn't there. Frankie says she knows she'll feel much better when she knows what the real story is. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass and Felicia 1990--I Can't Let Frankie Run Away Just Because She's Scared
Cass goes to TOPS to see Felicia. He tells her that he wants Frankie, that he needs to see Frankie, but she left town and he doesn't have the slightest idea where she is. He has begged, pleaded, crawled, threatened, and Sharlene won't even give him a hint about where Frankie is. Felicia says it sounds like Frankie wants to be alone, but Cass tells Felicia the same thing he told Sharlene: that if Frankie is alone, she'll invent reasons why she and Cass are all wrong for each other and don't stand a chance. Felicia asks Cass if Frankie is right about that. "Do I look like like I think she's right?" Cass exclaims. Felicia says that Cass and Frankie have had a few problems in the past. Cass gets more passionate and more insistent in his declaration of feelings, telling Felicia that he cares about Frankie a lot and he knows that she cares about him a lot too, and he can't let her run away just because she's scared of that. Felicia says that she doesn't think Cass should give up, then; she thinks Cass should find Frankie and make her listen to him. "YES! ALL RIGHT! YES!" Cass shouts. Now he's all charged up, and he's ready to go racing out of TOPS straight to Frankie's side...except that he still doesn't know where Frankie IS. So he asks Felicia, "How do I do that if I don't know where she is?" Felicia tells Cass to go back and tell Sharlene everything he just told Felicia and make Sharlene know how important this is, and if for some reason Sharlene doesn't listen to Cass, then Cass is to come back and get Felicia and they'll form a posse. Cass thanks Felicia, telling her he can always count on her, and goes dashing out of TOPS yelling "POSSE! YES!"
Listen carefully to hear Felicia quietly, almost in a whisper, say, "God help her." (I always figured she meant Frankie, but I guess she could have meant Sharlene, couldn't she?)

Cass and Frankie 1990--Frankie Talks to the Reverend Mother at the Convent
While working in the convent kitchen, Frankie talks to one of the sisters, who says that she can see that Frankie is a very spiritual person but also a very troubled person. Frankie says that it was starting to get a little rough out there. "So you ran," the nun says. Frankie replies that it was something like that. The sister asks why. Frankie starts to tell the sister about Cass, but stops herself almost immediately. At the mention of "this guy," the sister asks if Frankie loves him. Frankie replies that she has to get him out of her life because it would be the best thing for both of them. The sister asks if Frankie is sure about that and adds that she (the sister) would be the first person to suggest that you always take time to meditate, contemplate when it comes to solving your problems; however, there comes a time when you must look at your problems directly, face them. Don't run away from your fears. So if Frankie came there to escape, the convent is not the place for her.

Cass and Frankie 1990--A Cosmic Message and an Embarrassing Mistake
Alone in the convent kitchen, Frankie turns on the radio. After changing the station, she starts to groove to the song that's playing, but after listening to the lyrics, which remind her of Cass (with very good reason, as you'll see when you listen to the lyrics as well--I consider that song a cosmic message to Frankie), she turns the radio off. Then a monk enters the kitchen, looking...well, a lot like Friar Tuck from "Robin Hood," actually (or at least that's what I've always thought), only he has a hood pulled up so you can't see his face. Frankie thinks it's Cass and tells him off, then yanks the hood down to confront him...only to see a startled, scared stranger who is indeed one of the brothers who lives at the convent! The poor monk flees the kitchen without a word after Frankie unmasks him, and all poor Frankie can do is gasp and cover her mouth with both hands.

Cass Finds Out Where Frankie Went, 1990
This is the only good thing Sharly ever did.
Cass returns to The Pelican Club, ready to plead his case to Sharlene all over again and with more passion then before, telling her that it's his AND Frankie's problem and they need to work it out together. Sharly is the one who's in charge when Cass comes back to talk to Sharlene, so she says that if a man wants to find a woman as badly as Cass wants to Frankie, who is she to keep them apart, and retrieves the napkin with the information on it and gives it to Cass. Cass is surprised at Sharlene's about face, although he's not complaining. Sharly tells Cass that's not his only surprise today. Cass asks what she means by that, and realizes what she means when he reads the napkin: Frankie's in a convent!

Cass and Frankie 1990--Is the Soup Really Good Today?
Frankie serves up soup to the sisters at the convent. The Reverend Mother tells Frankie she can see that things are going better, and assures her that Brother Joseph finally understands what happened earlier when Frankie yanked off his hood, which Frankie is still embarrassed about doing. The Reverend Mother says that she hopes Frankie finds some peace there, may God bless her, and leaves. Alone in the kitchen once again after all the sisters have been served, one more sister steps up to the window. Frankie dishes up more soup, but it's a very familiar (not to mention MALE) face beneath that habit asking, "Is the soup really good today?"

Cass and Frankie 1990--At the Convent, Part 1
This is one of my all-time favorite Cass and Frankie scenes, and I don't have words to describe all of the awesomeness and wonderfulness here. In fact, I can only come up with one word about this scene: Enjoy!

So what does "Sister Cassandra" do to get the attention of the lovely yet scared Mary Frances? Watch and find out!

Cass and Frankie 1990--Why Are You Afraid of Getting Involved?
Cass and Frankie are now in the car after leaving the convent, and Cass asks Frankie why she's so afraid of getting involved. Frankie says she can't tell Cass why because he'll laugh at her. He swears he won't laugh at her. So Frankie tells him: she can't let anyone get close to her because it's not safe. There's a curse on her. Cass bursts out laughing at this. Frankie tells Cass that any man who gets close to her is doomed, so Cass has to stay away from her. Frankie is upset that Cass is laughing at her. Cass says he's not laughing at her, he's not even smiling, and she tells him he'd better not. Cass wants to know what kind of evidence Frankie has that she's cursed. She reminds him that a building fell on him last week. Cass says that close call had mainly to do with Frankie's pigheadedness; Cass told her about Griffen for weeks and she refused to believe him. That's not a curse. Frankie tells Cass to head north, and she'll prove to him once and for all that any man who gets involved with her is in mortal danger. Cass laughs again, but he does apologize this time for laughing.

Frankie Explains to Cass Why She Is Cursed, 1990
Frankie and Cass arrive at their destination, and Frankie explains to Cass why she is cursed, and therefore why they can't be together. This is a must-see scene for all Cass and Frankie fans! Frankie truly believes she is cursed and because of this, Cass is in danger if they are together...but starting with the scenes that pick up where these leave off (which will be posted next week), Cass is more determined than ever to prove to Frankie that she's NOT cursed and that they DO belong together.
