|
|
I was flipping thru the channels Friday before my pre-work nap, and I got a goooooood dose of Bay City during the day....
* I happened across SS's new nasal med Astepro ad (didn't know he had a new ad lately)
* A few minutes later, Anne Howard's Realtor ad came on
* Later I came across TNT and a L&O rerun, with Mark Pinter as a suave conniver (wow what a stretch for him ) --it also had ATWT's Kathryn Hays (Kim) in a brief role
* During L&O they showed an ad for TNT's The Closer (with our Julia, Kyra Sedgwick)
Well, needless to say, I went to bed in a good mood!! Hard to believe that much AW action in 1 day for me.... |

Just a word of advice to the ladies ~
If you are having a conversation with the DH and all of a sudden you hear a very familiar melodic voice from the past, make sure you don't stop the conversation cold by yelling "It's Cass!" toward the TV (it was his Astepro ad). The DH sez "Who the h*ll is Cass?" When I said, that guy, right there on the screen, then I got the "What kind of stupid name is Cass?" Which I followed with (and, yes, I admit, I'm not too bright sometimes) ~ "Well, actually his REAL name is Casanova." Okay, so it's not but that's what came out of my mouth.
I'm not gonna live this one down any time soon.

This is great! What an awesome way to slumber off! I do that myself.
DH has to come in and turn my computer off at night because I set up the episode and then fall asleep. That is why I have to watch the epi like 3 times to see the whole thing I hope that counts as 3 watches by Hulu's count.
Anyway, in my house it is not me and DH, it's the kids. "Mom, Mom! Look, It's Cass!!!"

I do the same thing. When I see SS's ad on TV, I stop and say Hey Cass! I am usually alone...... No matter what I am doing, if I hear his voice I have to stop and run into the other room and watch the TV ad. A friend of mine was there one night and he asked what is so important? I said its Cass! He said who? Then I said SS. Isn't he cute? It doesn't matter, I have to stop what I am doing and watch his commercial. That's my Cass!!! |

Same here. SS does the voiceovers for the Mercedes-Benz ads. My entire family thinks I'm insane (not that that's anything new) because I was in the kitchen and somebody had the TV on in the living room, and I heard him and as I hurried into the living room I exclaimed, "I'd know that voice anywhere!"
"What?"
"I'm changing the channel!"
"DON'T YOU DARE!" I shouted. They're looking at me like I'm nuts (again, nothing new).
So finally I'm asked, after the commercial, what that's all about. "Stephen Schnetzer," I said. They just stared. "Another World." Stare. "Cass. As in Cass and Frankie." (They do know that much about AW.)
Of course my sister still ticks me off because she refers to AW as "that stupid show with the fake people that got canceled a long time ago."
We won't even discuss their reaction when I saw ABM's Caltrate commercial in full for the first time back in January.
They either get it, or they don't...and I live with a houseful of people who, unfortunately for me, don't.
But I'm sure glad all of you do!

Fake people?!? Wow, not very sister-ly of her....
Well, at least you found some more out there who do 'get it'! I don't know if I would have been hooked on AW (as well as the others along the way) if it weren't for my now-dearly-departed mother. Many in her family saw sitting around watching soaps as a form of laziness, while others I've come across in my adulthood either haven't heard of AW or don't 'get it' either. Many of those don't believe me when I tell them such-and-such-popular-actor used to be on AW (or another soap), like when my ex-roommate saw the Biography ep with Ray Liotta several months ago. He couldn't understand why I'd get so excited at the possibility of them showing something other than RL's movie career. Or like the past friend that didn't believe that Dark Shadows was a soap before the reunion movies. And I sure wasn't going to tell the guy at the NJ car rental place in 2001 that I was in NYC for an AW Reunion--but I didn't really lie, I said I was in town to see some old friends I haven't seen in a while (!!)...he goes, "Are yous gonna go catch a Yankees game or somethin?"
The things you go through as an AW fan....
Well, Amy, you could tell your sis that Irna thought they were real people! (imagine the you'd get for that one!) |
