While poking around the Soap Opera Network website I found this article stating that the CW is in negotiations to broadcast this years Daytime Emmys. It's not a done deal but at least someone is expressing interest. The fact that the "big three" networks have no interest in promoting their own shows does not bode well for the future of soaps. I'm starting to wonder if the genre has simply run its course. At any rate, you can view the entire article here:

Just read on SoapCentral that the CW will air this years Daytime Emmys at the end of August....better late than never as the broadcast usually airs in May or June. Maybe by then Guiding Light will have found a new home. TeleNext Media is said to be exploring every avenue in an attempt to keep the soap going. Personally, I wish they would pursue the idea of a P&G Classic Soaps Network for television as that would mean a new home for classic Another World as well. There would be no shortage of programming(and no need for the "teen dramas" and pathetically bad movies Soapnet is so fond of) that's for sure.

I am happy The CW is doing this.
Late aug? prob so they can promo their primetime lineup that will debut that week/the next week? _________________
