Cuz it appears as though we are getting to the point where Sharlene disappeared for a few years, I was wondering why Anna Holbrook left the show in Oct/Nov of 1991.  I thought it was to have a baby but judging by the tight little black dress she was wearing when she went out to get the Ricotta cheese (Oct. 1Cool, she wasn't pregnant.

Any clues?

Checked "the archives" and according to the "Coming & Goings" section of the 9/17/91 issue of Soap Opera Digest:

ANOTHER WORLD
Anna Holbrook(Sharlene Hudson)---Head Writer Donna Swajeski promises a full-blown mystery story to send off the character of Sharlene. Actress Holbrook plans to leave AW in late November or early December to devote herself to full-time motherhood.


I was sorry to see her go at the time but thankful that the door was left open for her her return. Unfortunately, when she did come back the writers rushed to reconcile John and Sharlene(once she and Kate Baker were integrated) and eventually destroyed the couple for good all so that John could hook up with Felicia(a mismatch if ever there was one) in a snow storm.
