I've finally gotten to Judi's arrival, and Jake forcing her to take the engagement ring (all the way through July 21). LOVE IT, LOVE HER, LOVE THEM!

okay... so im a bit further now in my regular watching... im in aug, around the fifth. and my views on a lot of things have changed...
Matt & Jenna who? Matt & Lorna is where its at! DAMN! That kiss they shared was HAWTAHWTHAWT! oh man.
Kathleen... is now on my annoying side. I loved her, but now? ehhh. I get why shes jealous of Frankie, but at the same time... idk. But then there is Cass, who i just dont buy as torn between two. All i see him doing is leading one women one when clearly in love with another. Then there is Frankie and shes just so over the top and annoying i cant root for her either. this triangle is a bust for me.
Iris is love. Anything she does, any scene she is in. I just cant help but love her. lol.
John & Sharlene... ugh. i keep trying to give them a chance. but i cant. they are awful. awful awful awful. i hate them. both alone or together. lol.
Dean also annoys me less. I really like him and Jenna.
Jake & paulina are great. i knew that. but now that judi is here and i seen her entrance i see what yall mean. and while i did really enjoy Cali as Pauline im excited for Judi because i know how awesome hse is. I also think JE and SF have much better sibling chem than CT and SF did. I also like all the conflict this has caused for the Corey family. Rachel, bless her soul, is trying to support Paulina. Amanda is supporting her. Matt isnt happy, and he works with Jake. and then there is Jame.. but thats another story... i hate this Jamie!
I also really like Olivia and feel bad for her. She really seems to like Sam but ya know he is in love with Amanda. And by the way... exactly who is Olivia related to and how she is connected to people?
speaking of how people are related.. who is Ada and who is bridgett? is Donna's only connection to the hudsons John?
also.. where do yall get these AW pictures at? The only site i could find with any was the AWHP.
Also... this show has GREAT male characters. As a guy i have never found men on soaps to really be all that relateable.. but everyone from Jake to Sam to Matt to Ryan to Dean to everyone else, even Carl, are so real to me. It just stands out because its so rare.
Oh and damn! I dont care.. someone spoil this for me... HOW MUCH LONGER DO I GOT TO WAIT FOR SAM AND AMANDA TO GET BACK TOGETHER!?!?! jeez. the scene after they swim with ali in the pool was great. then tension, the romance, the attraction!

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I have to say that, next to the classic "Alice/Steve/Rachel" triangle, I believe that the "Frankie/Cass/Kathleen" triangle is considered to be the best in Another World's 35 year history and one of the all time best triangles in soap history as well. For me it was the standout of several involving storylines that AW had going for it in 1991. And if all you see when you look at Frankie is someone who's "over the top and annoying" well then you're just not looking very hard. Mary Frances Frame probably had the biggest, warmest heart of any soap character ever. I can say this because AW truly broke my heart when they took Frankie from us for good in 1996. To this day, no other love story from any soap has ever affected me the way the story of Cass and Frankie has. They were, and are, magical and I kind of feel sorry for anyone who doesn't feel it.

Again, you are entitled to your opinion but, for my money, Beverlee McKinsey was Iris. Carmen Duncan was pretty awful by comparison and Iris became a mute character for me when she took over the role.
For me, Carmen was Iris...I never knew Beverly as Iris(althought I do remember her as Alexandra). Carmen's Iris cracks me up! It's hard for me to imagine anybody else in the role(not sayin' Beverly wasn't brilliant..I'm positive she was). She makes every scene she's in memorable...Kinda like My Boy. Can't say that about everybody.
As for Frankie...I like Frankie & Cass...Me luved Kathleen cuz she's family, but I could take 'em or leave 'em. ABM & SS's portrayal of those characters...well, let's jes put it this way...No way anybody else cudda played the parts. They were meant to be *Cass & Frankie* and their chemistry is electrifying.

But, and I'm duckin' them cyber maters from Amy, I gotta say that the more I get to watch C&K back long before Frankie was even in Bay City, the more I like 'em. Dat's why I included them (and Cecile ) in my Death of Zane series at YT.
LUVED LUVED LUVED me some Carmen Duncan *Iris*. BM was my first Iris and I liked her even as a kid (cuz she was so Daddy-needy and had purdy red fingernails) but there was somethin' about CD that I adored. I didn't even mind it when she went after my gurl though she really never did it with claws flyin'. Dat's what bugs me 'bout the Felicia/John thing later on, SHARLENE is the one that got one over on Felicia (you know, out *bitched* her) when the likes of Donna & Iris could barely make a dent in Felicia's shoulder-padded armor.

They became friends...When JakeJake was gettin' his Groove On with Big Donna, Olivia had the crush thang goin' on with Sam. Big D kinda rejected JakeJake while he was Romancin' her at Tops cuz Michael had told her what really happened with the whole *I don't luv you anymore, I wanna divorce* thang. They screwed her up real good...and then there was the arrival of
nu~sis *Josie*. *Sam* used her & tossed her aside.
All in all, I think she deserved better.
As did Allison Hossack. IMO, she was one of the better younger actresses on the show. I recently watched the hulu epi where *Sam* broke up with *Olivia* and *O* cried buckets thanks to AH ability to actually bring on the tears. I felt really bad for her not cuz I'm a big *O* fan (could take or leave her) but cuz AH made me feel it. Too bad she had to share the scene with BG's Sam cuz he just looked at her with all the emotions of Mt. Rushmore. Bummer that WGE was no longer on the show as Mitch ~ in a scene 'tween BG's Sam and WGE's Mitch, WGE would be the one doing all the emoting!!! My boy might have won an Emmy! {okay, okay, I still remember LD rockin' in a scene and WGE doin' the Mt. Rushmore thing}
Hmmm...Olivia and Jake...still ponderin' it in my head. Nope, don't like it.

Speaking for myself only, I'm fiercely protective of Cass and Frankie, so anybody who tries in any way to mess them up gets my undying and everlasting hatred, and I will always defend Cass and Frankie. There were some really stupid, boneheaded things Cass did in 1991, but when he told Frankie that he was going to put as much energy into earning back her trust as he did into messing them up in the first place, he did exactly that. He kept all of his promises. So how could I not forgive him? Frankie did. Love conquers all.

I still remember the reason she gave Sam for turning to Evan: "Evan is the only one who understood me after my father died!"
As I recall, everyone from Sam to Rachel to Ada to Matthew to even Lamie Jamie (since LL was still playing the role at the time) tried to get DUH to open up about her feelings about Mac's death (beyond blaming Iris for it), and she stonewalled all of them to romp with Evan in his hot tub and the bed above it. She had a family that loved her and wanted to be there for her, and she rejected them all for a little bow chicka wow wow with Evan. I don't see any rooting value in that. I think that was the one thing almost everyone agreed on at the old SoapNOT board. We all did want to run her over with a tank for her behavior.

Anybody with a father like Dr. D!ckhead Russ would be screwed up for life! He basically ignored Olivia in favor of his career. The only family member she really had to count on that was there for her all the time was Aunt Liz, and we all know how judgmental she was about everyone and everything. So ITA, KG--Russ and Liz screwed Olivia up good. Not much of a relationship was ever developed between Olivia and Josie, really, beyond the initial "I hate this entire situation" feeling from Olivia, and Josie became pretty unbearable pretty soon after that because of her ego growing to proportions large enough to eat Cleveland. I agree, I started out disliking Olivia but I ended up liking her, mostly because she got spit on at every turn by practically everyone in her life. She did deserve better.

That is because Cass is so totally flawed it breaks your heart sometimes. But Cass also recognizes it and tries to make it up to those he wrongs, especially Frankie and Felicia.

Cass expressed it best himself when he said to Frankie in the "Heaven" episode that he never liked himself more than when he was with her. That kind of sums up my feelings about Cass in general. I do love his friendship with Felicia but as for romantic entanglements I never have any desire to see him paired with anyone other than Frankie. Just the thought of AW putting him with someone else after they killed Frankie made me sick to my stomach, and his eventual pairing with "Cecile Jr."/a.k.a. Lila did nothing to quell that feeling. I know that a lot of AW fans missed "the Cass that was" before he met Frankie (just as Kathleen seemed to) but for me he was at his most attractive when he was loving/fighting and making up with Mary Frances. She really did bring out the best in him. The writers did a real number on them(and on their fans) in the end, but at their best(when they were being written for, i.e. before JFP reared her ugly head) they were hands down the best soap couple ever.

That is EXACTLY how I feel! And since I came into it six weeks before Frankie did, while I acknowledge that there were others before her, I choose not to actually torture myself by watching any of those relationships. And in my heart, Frankie was never killed, and she and Cass stayed together and lived fairly happily ever after, facing their issues and problems as a team. I'm also not going anywhere near anything that happened after John and Sharlene got remarried in June of '95, because the show fell apart pretty quickly after that, and I want my memories to remain intact and happy, so after John and Sharlene retie the knot, I'm out. That's always been my departure date, and it always will be.
And you're right, Nettie, Cass was flawed and when he made mistakes, they tended to be big ones...but he always, always made it up to Frankie and to Felicia, and since they could forgive him, so could I.
