Mystery solved: Alex Wheeler is Dennis's father, obviously. Sounds like, since Iris loved him for 25 years and they weren't together, that he didn't know until Dennis was grown that he was Dennis's father (which also explains why Dennis was listed as "Dennis Carrington" during the 25th anniversary week episodes' credits and then as "Dennis Wheeler" when Chris Bruno took on the role full-time starting in 1991). It also sounds like Alex Wheeler was the one great love of Iris's life. Interesting clip. Always great to see DW as Mac, and I'm going to be getting a fairly steady diet of BM as Alexandra Spaulding this summer as I put together my GL tribute project. Thanks for sharing this, KG.

This was the last time the late, great Douglass Watson shared a scene with his on-screen daughter, Beverlee McKinsey. Both performers are sorely missed, so it is wonderful to have this scene preserved on You Tube. |
