Okay, I couldn't think of any other place to share this other than in the Daily Chuckle thread if for no other reason than the big ear-to-ear grin it put on Nettie's face.
In searching another website (sorry, I strayed...), I found this question from a fan of Y&R but it caught my eye cuz as you all know, I am WGE's biggest (only?) fan and I jes had to at this ~
Quote:
Q: When I began watching "Young and Restless," Jill just learned that Kay was her mother. Now it appears Kay is not her biological mother. So who is Jill's bio family? — Anthony, Foxborough, Mass.
A: Who knows? Jill does not seem to be looking for her "real" mother. Let's talk about the family she grew up with. Jill's mother, Liz, was Kay's housekeeper. Her father, Bill, was a blue-collar worker whom Jill adored. Bill died after a long struggle with lung cancer, which was linked to his smoking habit. Jill has two brothers. Greg, a lawyer, was not on the "Y&R" canvas for very long. Her brother William, however, had a long run. A gynecologist, his nickname was Snapper. I couldn't make that up. William Grey Espy, who played Snapper, was one of the first soap opera "hunks." When Espy left to move to Nashville and become a country western star, the producers did an extensive search for a replacement.
They found the then-unknown David Hasselhoff. Snapper became a major character. While Espy never became an international or even local country star, Hasselhoff began recording songs. Even then, Hasselhoff would brag he was a major signing star in Germany. It was the first thing he told me in our first, second and every interview.
WGE tried to become a country (western) star? Could he even sing? (TG is gonna say that he had to actually speak first ) I know that I've heard *Mitch* croon on a couple of occasions ~ once he hummed the National Anthem (while showering in *Mexico* and strictly for Felicia's benefit) and once he and Felicia sang a few lines from "That's Amore" (sorry, LD but WGE definitely could hold the notes longer than you could! ).
Geez...why didn't the AW powers-that-be take advantage of this fact? Mitch & NuSam could have left Bay City together to seek their fame and fortune as country singers!
BTW ~ a side note as to Hasselhoff and his *fame* in Germany. Years ago, when the Hoff was recording music, my mom was talking via telephone to one of her sisters in Germany who asked if Hasselhoff was as big a music star in the US as he was in Germany. I think mom laughed so hard she couldn't continue the conversation.

Since you laughed, guess it's Ok for me to Jes can't imagine it!! Dunno if I wish he had became a C&W star cuz then we might notta had DeadPan Mitch!! What would Felicia had done??? What would Nettie had done???? _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/eplinlover/index.htm

Maybe *DeadPan Mitch* coulda sung all his lines instead of say (okay, his version of "say") them!
Now you know I've been thinking all this over. First of all, I didn't know that WGE was that big a star back in the 70's. Means he might have been in all the TigerBeat mags I was buyin' cuz of David Cassidy. Makes me wanna go out in the garage and find my Cassidy vault (you know I gots one!) and flip over the pics and see if I got one of WGE ~ course I prolly cut his face in half or somethin' gettin' jes the right DC pic.
As for Felicia, my gurl could get all decked out in a lot of get-ups but can ya see her with fringed jackets and cowboy boots sittin' in the first row moonin' over CountryMitch?
And Nettie ~ well Nettie woulda have to finally switch over to the DH's fav music. He's always lookin' for the preset country stations when he drives my car and I tell him that unless Lifehouse or Nickelback sings a country song, he ain't gonna find one! Guess it woulda been nice to say "Does WGE have any new "My wife jes left me and took my dog and my truck and my beer" songs I might like?" LOL
HOWEVER, whether WGE could really sing or not, he HAD to have been better than Melissa in the 81 epi's. Would have been interesting to see/hear Mitch yelling (screeching? emoting?) into the microphone at that club he co-owned rather than Melissa.
