Hey, everybody!
Now that the storms have finally stopped here, I can finally get this week's clip descriptions and links out to all of you. Thanks to Janie for the February 1993 scenes.
Amy
Jake, Paulina, Sloane, Iris and Rachel at KBAY
Jake is still trying to figure out what the big secret is about the person or persons making the threats against Grant and Vicky, insisting that he has a right to know because he's a taxpayer, and whose money paid for the Secret Service? Paulina tells Jake that he's lucky Spencer didn't have him arrested, which gets Jake suspicious of Spencer again, as he points out to Paulina that Spencer was definitely scoping him out. Sloane isn't happy that Jake hasn't finished editing the film of Grant and Vicky's wedding and reception, even though she says it isn't worth panting for, because opportunity is knocking. Iris frets to Rachel that Jake and Paulina are cozier than ever, and Sloane and Jake seem to be at odds, and tells Rachel she has a delicious plan to remedy this situation. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Jake, Sloane, Rachel, and Iris at KBAY
Jake calls Bridget to ask what Vicky packed for her honeymoon in an effort to find out where Vicky and Grant are, but Bridget can't help because Vicky didn't pack for herself. Jake muses that if he doesn't get some answers, he might have to get out of town. Meanwhile, Sloane tells Rachel that Marvin Griff, a big-time syndication guru, is interested in syndicating Jam Session, the renamed talk show that Jenna is now hosting in place of Breakfast With Felicia. Rachel is initially thrilled...but she's not so pleased when Sloane tells her that Griff wants to see a taping and meet Jenna and wants to syndicate Jam Session as it is, with Jenna hosting. Rachel reminds Sloane that Jenna has a limited contract, and she's only filling in for Felicia until Felicia gets back on her feet again. Sloane counters that Felicia is an alcoholic, and asks Rachel if Rachel wants Felicia to do on the air what she did at Grant's wedding. Of course Rachel doesn't want that, but she tells Sloane that she hates to admit that Sloane is right, and this hiatus, which was supposed to give Felicia time to pull herself together, hasn't helped Felicia at all. Rachel is still doubtful that Jenna will renegotiate her contract to essentially replace her mother, however. Sloane leaves to get some numbers together for Griff, which she will leave on Rachel's desk. After Sloane's departure, Iris remarks that Sloane is a real go-getter and she hopes that's true in other areas, then asks Rachel how Rachel likes Iris's plan. Rachel doesn't like it; she finds it a little down and dirty because the whole idea was to put Jake in a situation where he brought about his own downfall, not for Rachel and Iris to engineer it. Iris, on the other hand, doesn't want to wait around for Jake to get bored with fidelity; they tried being subtle by getting him and Sloane together in Cincinnati and they didn't get the hint at all. Jake and Iris then trade barbs about Jake being on the Cory payroll and about Valentine's Day. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Jake, Paulina, Sloane, and Iris at KBAY
Iris tucks a Valentine's card in Jake's bag, then has to talk to Jake and Paulina when they see her getting ready to leave. When Iris tells the couple that she's having dinner with Rachel, Jake says that isn't very romantic, but Paulina says that Hank probably has to work tonight. Iris says he does, but that isn't anyone's business. Jake remarks that as the head honcho, Iris can make sure Hank the Hunk is off any time she wants him to be. Iris tells Jake to do her a favor--drop into a hole and die. Then she leaves. Paulina tells Jake she wishes he would at least try to get along with Iris. Jake says Iris is the one who got nasty. Sloane returns then and tells Jake if he's sitting on a scoop about Grant and Vicky's wedding, she has to know about it now, because Marvin Griff is coming in tomorrow and he's interested in Jam Session, so they have to blast him with everything they've got. Jake tells Sloane he can't be for sure, but he thinks there's a high-level cover-up involving Grant and the threats that were and then weren't, but that's as far as he can go right now. Sloane says she can insinuate to Griff that they have something major, then leaves. Jake remarks that Sloane is mean but she's effective. Paulina says that she's off duty as of now and admits nothing. Jake asks if Paulina admits if she's wildly, madly, and passionately in love with him. Paulina smiles and says yes, she admits it, and then asks Jake where they're going for dinner. "Home," Jake replies, and asks if they have something in the freezer they can zap. Paulina is surprised because of Jake's talk about Valentine's Day and romance with Iris; she thought they'd be doing something themselves. Jake says he's such a klutz, but they have phone calls and editing to do, and he could take Paulina out on the town, but at least they'll spend the night together. Paulina agrees and says home it is, and they head out together, with Iris watching them leave from a distance. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Iris and Sloane and Rachel at KBAY
Iris tells Sloane that she's heard all sorts of positive things about Sloane. Sloane thanks Iris and is glad that Rachel's pleased. Sloane is surprised when Iris says that Jake has been singing her praises as well, and that she overheard him say the other day that he hasn't been this fired up in ages, which Iris imagines he meant professionally. Sloane replies that that's nice to hear, and Jake is very good at what he does, then asks why Rachel doesn't have a very high opinion of Jake. Iris tells Sloane that Rachel respects Jake's work but doesn't think he's right for her stepdaughter Paulina, and Iris agrees. Iris thinks that Jake needs someone with more drive, more zeal, more ambition. Sloane asks why she gets the idea she fits in somewhere. Iris says now that Sloane mentions it, Sloane and Jake do have a lot in common. Sloane tells Iris that she's direct, which Sloane likes; she hasn't seen much of since she left New York. Iris replies that they like to be more subtle around here, more polite. After Sloane says good night and leaves, Rachel comes up and asks Iris what that was all about. Iris says that she and Sloane were just getting to know each other, and Sloane is very interesting, which she expects Jake will notice too. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Jake and Paulina--Valentine's Day 1993
Paulina and Jake get home, and Paulina is surprised and thrilled to find the living room filled with pink and red heart-shaped balloons. Jake didn't forget Valentine's Day after all. He tells Paulina that he has a special present for her for the occasion, which he'll give to her later. First they're going to dine on a sweetheart of a meal. Paulina initially thinks that Jake cooked, but he tells her he sent out for something delectable, which makes her laugh. Then she remembers that they were supposed to work tonight. Jake asks her if she'd rather work than eat. Paulina replies they could do both so they have more time later, and Jake agrees that that sounds like a plan. In between kisses, Paulina says they can set up supper and watch the tape. Jake then announces that he got pink champagne, which they'll have first, and then they will dine on their celebration dinner while watching the tape of Paulina's ex-fiance's wedding. Paulina laughs and says she loves it. Jake tells Paulina he's loves her. "Me too, you," Paulina replies. He goes to get the pink champagne and tells Paulina to get the tape out of his bag while he's doing that. But Paulina finds the Valentine's card Iris put in Jake's bag, and she thinks it's from Sloane, and it makes her angry. Jake doesn't know anything about the card, and sarcastically says the balloons and the champagne are just a big cover-up because he wants to get it on with his boss. Paulina thinks Jake is sending Sloane some kind of come-on signals because Sloane has too much ego to embarrass herself by giving Jake an unsigned card asking him to be her Valentine without signals. Jake reminds Paulina that he's been in the doghouse with Sloane more than he's been out of it. Paulina admits that's true, then says maybe the Valentine is Sloane's primitive way of saying all is forgiven. Paulina then says that Sloane is a poisonous man-grabber and a scorpion who needs to be taught a lesson in humility. Jake asks Paulina what she's thinking. Paulina tells him not to worry about it and not to even think about it, kisses him, and asks about that big present. They then head upstairs together. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Douglas Asks Christy to Promise She Won't See Cass Again
Douglas manages to crawl to the oxygen tank. Christy returns and rushes to his side, apologizing and saying she doesn't want to fight as she puts the mask to his nose and mouth. Douglas wants Christy to promise him that she'll never see Cass again. She tells him that it's not fair of him to ask that. Douglas insists it's essential that she not see Cass again, and asks how she's planning on continuing the relationship, as a menage a trois? Christy tells Douglas he's a very ill man, and adds that thinking is not acting. Douglas tells Christy she won't be able to control herself. Christy wishes Douglas had more faith in her. Douglas tells Christy he saw her struggle back from the abyss, and he feels that she's traveling on the rim of it again. Christy tells Douglas he brought her back from the edge, but he never let go. He didn't believe she was strong enough to stand alone, and after a while she didn't believe it either. Douglas says of course Christy can stand on her own, but she can't put herself in the way of temptation. When Christy says she can control her feelings for Cass, Douglas insists that Christy will bring disaster and misery to Cass and Frankie and to herself because he knows Christy. Christy tells Douglas he almost had her convinced she was a cripple. Douglas says that Christy was getting stronger until recently. Christy says yes, she was, until it became clear that she wasn't worth fighting to stay with. Douglas says that he loves Christy and that's why he doesn't want her to prolong her life with an invalid. He wants her to have a wonderful, loving strong husband, but she can't have Cass. Christy asks Douglas if he's going to appoint someone from the grave. Douglas pleads with her, saying that no one knows better than he does that his days of influence over her are numbered. Christy sarcastically says she'll always feel Douglas's influence over her. Douglas asks Christy to give him peace by promising that she won't see Cass again. Christy reminds Douglas that the wedding is tomorrow, and asks how she's supposed to explain to Frankie that the matron of honor can't make it, because whether it's the truth or a lie, Frankie will be hurt. Douglas asks if Cass and Frankie are going on a honeymoon. When Christy tells him they're going to Mexico, Douglas says that Christy should go ahead with the wedding as planned, and with Cass and Frankie in Mexico, that will give Douglas and Christy time to come up with a cover story about Douglas being too ill for Christy to leave the house or to have visitors. He also says they'll move if need be, and say that there's a new therapy that would benefit him. They can find a gentler climate that's more agreeable to both of them where Christy can still go dancing. Douglas says he doesn't want Christy to ever hurt again the way she was hurting when he found her. Christy accuses Douglas of not wanting to give up the last vestige of control he has over her and asks Douglas what he'll do if she refuses. Douglas replies that he would have to tell Frankie that Christy is in love with her fiance. When Christy says Douglas wouldn't do that, Douglas replies that he would if he must, and tells Christy to say it: promise him that she won't see Cass again after his and Frankie's wedding tomorrow. Christy's response is to walk out on Douglas without a word. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Christy Walks Out on Douglas
When Christy walked out at the end of the last scene, she went to get her coat, scarf, and purse, and she ignores Douglas as she bundles up to leave again. After she walks out of the house, slamming the door behind her, Douglas begins to have trouble catching his breath again. Thanks to Janie for the scene.

Frankie and Cass 1993--Christy's Jealous of Me and Her Husband
Cass worriedly asks Frankie if she's okay. Frankie finally catches her breath and says Douglas will be all right. Cass insists that Frankie sit down, and he guides her to the couch and sits down beside her as she says this has happened before; she and Douglas are in touch. Frankie says she should call Douglas and starts to get up, but Cass very gently pulls her back down and says he doesn't think that's such a good idea. Frankie says she and Christy left things in a very bad place, and that could be affecting what's happening to Douglas. Cass counters that Christy and Douglas could be working things through right now, and Christy may blame Frankie even more and accuse her of meddling if she calls in the middle of that. Frankie insists that caring is not meddling and says she never meant to hurt Christy; she and Douglas were both worried about Christy, that's all. She heads for the phone as Cass asks if Christy thought it was more than that. Frankie says yes, Christy did think it was more. Frankie is Christy's best friend, and Christy is jealous of Frankie and Douglas. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass and Frankie 1993--You and I Are Not Losing Each Other. Never Again.
Cass can see why Christy was angry that Frankie and Douglas were talking about her, but he doesn't understand Christy being jealous of Frankie and Douglas talking. Frankie and Christy are like sisters, for crying out loud! Frankie knows what Cass means, but tells him that she and Douglas connected on a spiritual level the moment they met. Cass still doesn't get it, though: he can deal with it, so why can't Christy? Frankie thinks it's because Christy knows she's losing Douglas anyway, and Cass and Frankie are not losing each other. "Never again," Cass agrees emphatically. Cass still doesn't get the jealousy angle, though. Frankie isn't bothered that Cass and Christy hit it off, even considering Cass's track record. He asks Frankie why that is. Frankie replies that it's because she and Cass both know that people connect on different levels.
Then things get all sweet and romantic and cute and funny, with Cass and Frankie talking about being connected permanently (Frankie says they have been all along), and being connected matrimonially, and this being the night before their wedding will be their last chance to make love illicitly (yeah, that's Cass). Cass wants to "carpe momentum" with Frankie, but Frankie, though she would love to seize the moment with Cass, has a million things to do, including making the finalizing phone calls and packing for their honeymoon in Mexico. Cass says they have years and years and years to make love, so why don't they both deal with the last minute details? When Frankie says she doesn't know where to start, Cass suggests they brush up on their tango to center themselves, and so they tango. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass and Frankie 1993--Eons of Tradition; Douglas's Phone Call
Cass and Frankie get dressed again after making love, and the sweet, silly romance continues as Cass, still shirtless, tells Frankie it's only 6:00, time for more, and pulls her back into his arms for another kiss. They're interrupted when the doorbell rings. Frankie says she'll get it, since she's more together than Cass is. Cass puts on his shirt but doesn't button it, and he and Frankie have a bit of a tug-of-war over the big box that was delivered, which contains Cass's new tux for the wedding. Cass doesn't want Frankie to see his tux since he can't see her dress. Frankie says it's eons of tradition that dictate that the groom can't see the bride's dress before the wedding. Cass asks if they're going on eons of tradition or the logic of liberation and successfully pulls the box away from Frankie as she says that's not the issue. Cass says they have to clarify this and sets the box down, then holds up his hands and asks Frankie if he rules the roost or if they opt for equality. They haven't discussed it. Frankie asks, "Who said anything about equality? I plan to rule the roost," and then she smiles at Cass. Cass laughs, then grins, and he and Frankie put their arms around each other as Cass says he can't think of anybody he'd rather be ruled by, but Frankie doesn't get even a peek inside that box. They're kissing when they are interrupted by the ringing of the phone. Frankie answers the phone, and it's Douglas. He tells Frankie that he must speak to her, and it's urgent. Can she come over right away? He'll explain it all when she gets there. He asks her to please hurry. Frankie tells Douglas she's on her way and hurries out. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass Talks to Christy, Frankie Talks to Douglas--Part 1
Cass has just tried on his white tie and tails for the wedding when the doorbell rings again. It's Christy, and she tells Cass she needs to talk. Cass asks if she needs to talk about the same thing as Douglas and tells Christy that Douglas called and asked Frankie to come over. Christy says she doesn't know what Douglas wanted, because sometimes he can make logical connections and sometimes he's all over the place. Christy tells Cass that she and Douglas had a bit of a row after Frankie left, and Christy took a walk. She tells Cass that she hates it when she and Douglas fight. Cass points out that Christy is under such a tremendous amount of pressure, so naturally things erupt. Christy says it's happening too much lately; she and Douglas are fighting more and more, and she tells Cass that she really thinks it's because of Frankie.
Meanwhile, at the Carson home, Frankie helps Douglas to the couch and says she thinks they should call 911. Douglas refuses. Frankie at least wants to call Daryl. Douglas again refuses and just asks for the oxygen mask, saying this is all they can do anyway. When Frankie says maybe they can do more, Douglas reminds Frankie that he doesn't want anything like that. Frankie asks where Christy is. Douglas tells Frankie that Christy went out, adding that that's just as well. Frankie asks what she can do to help Douglas. He asks her to make him some of her special tea first, and then he has something upsetting that he must talk to Frankie about. Frankie goes to make the tea while Douglas breathes in the oxygen. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass Talks to Christy, Frankie Talks to Douglas--Part 2
Cass asks how Frankie could be responsible for what's going on between Christy and Douglas. Christy replies that Douglas won't fight for his life with tests, new drugs, or a heart transplant, and Frankie backs him up all the way. When Cass reminds her that Douglas has been clear about what he wants for a long time, Christy retorts that she should be able to change his mind. Cass asks if Christy means that she could change Douglas's mind if it weren't for Frankie.
Frankie gives Douglas a cup of tea and tells him to just sip it and get his bearings, so he does. Douglas tells Frankie she's been a big help.
Cass doesn't know how he can help, but when Christy tells him he can help by talking to Douglas, Cass says that would put him in a very awkward position since he drew up the documents Douglas requested. Christy again says that she isn't even sure Douglas knows what he's doing because his mind strays.
Douglas tells Frankie he has something serious he has to tell her. Frankie tells him she's not going anywhere, and to finish his tea first.
Christy asks Cass to try to reason with Douglas because Douglas respects and trusts Cass. Cass isn't sure about the ethics. He's not sure about anything now. Christy says she knows this will make things hard with Frankie, but this is Douglas's life they're talking about. When Cass emphasizes that it is Douglas's life, Christy continues that Frankie shouldn't help him just give up on it. Christy wants to save Douglas, and Frankie is just willing to let him die.
Frankie asks Douglas if he feels better. He tells her he doesn't know, then says Frankie is the only one who can stop it. Frankie asks, "Stop what?" Douglas begins gasping for breath, and he arches backward against the couch, his hand to his heart. Frankie yells Douglas's name. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

John and Sharlene Before John's Knee Surgery, 1991
Before John's surgery to remove the shrapnel from his knee, he and Sharlene have a heart-to-heart talk about what the surgery really means, the changes it will bring, and what John has realized now that he's about to lose the cane he's used for twenty years. Then they discuss their baby, who is kicking up a storm in utero as Sharlene nears her due date. When they get a phone call that John's surgery has been delayed, Sharlene asks John if he minds if she makes an overdue visit; she promises to be back in time to see John off to surgery. He agrees, and they declare their love to each other. Sharlene kisses John and then leaves to make her visit.

Sharlene Visits Donna in Jail, 1991
The overdue visit Sharlene had to make was to Donna, who was in jail at the time after she confessed to shooting Jake. Donna is surprised to see Sharlene, but Sharlene says she wanted to visit her friend. Donna didn't think she had any friends left. Sharlene assures Donna that there's plenty of time to turn things around; Sharlene is living, breathing proof of that. Donna opens up to Sharlene about her problems with Marley since confessing, and about her relationship with Jake. Sharlene can't condemn or condone what Donna did, but assures Donna that if Donna needs her, Sharlene will be there. Donna is deeply moved. Everyone who has come to see Donna is either screaming at her or accusing her, but not Sharlene, and that means a great deal to her. Donna brings up the irony of Stacey, who took Mikey from her, being her lawyer and taking care of everything. Donna then asks about Sharlene and the baby. Sharlene assures Donna that she's fine, then says it's wrong for Donna to be in jail. Donna says she should be in jail, though. Sharlene says that Jake was horrible to Donna and to all of her family. Donna replies that she has lost her husband and every single one of her children and has nothing left.

Taylor Benson Lures Sharlene to the Waterfront, 1991
Sharlene returns to the hospital and finds John already asleep because of his pre-operative medication. When the phone in John's hospital room rings, Sharlene hurriedly answers it. It's a prostitute named Judy, claiming that she has proof that Donna did not shoot Jake. She insists on meeting "Sharly" at a warehouse on the waterfront with the proof, so Sharlene leaves the hospital to meet her in the hopes of clearing Donna. But it was all a scheme: Taylor Benson paid Judy to call Sharlene and lure her down to the waterfront.

Taylor Locks Sharlene in a Warehouse; John Before His Knee Surgery, 1991
Sharlene goes to the warehouse on the waterfront, and Taylor Benson locks her in there and then leaves! Meanwhile, at the hospital, Ronnie Lawrence tells the groggy John that they're bringing the gurney up to take him to the OR, and everyone is rooting for him. John asks Ronnie to find Sharlene for him. Ronnie isn't sure Sharlene is in the hospital because Ronnie hasn't seen Sharlene since she left John's room buttoning up her coat and rushing out the door. When Ronnie looks for Sharlene, she can't find her. John worries that something is wrong, but Ronnie thinks Sharlene must have told John she was going to step out for a while and he just doesn't remember because he was drugged up. She probably left to have a decent meal and will be back before John is wheeled to the OR. Michael arrives then, and he and John talk for a while about a variety of things, including John's surgery, Sharlene, and Donna. Ronnie returns and tells John that he's next in OR. John wonders where Sharlene is. Sharlene is locked in a warehouse on the waterfront, that's where she is. She called out for help, but no one answered. Sharlene then talks to the baby, telling him not to worry, that this is an adventure, and someone thinks this is a joke, but she's not laughing. She realizes they must have taken John to surgery by now. She looks for another door to exit the warehouse as she continues talking to the baby about Daddy waiting for them at the hospital. Then she tells the baby that his daddy always says that when you're in a tough situation, you make do with what you have. Sharlene is startled by rats in the corner of the warehouse and resumes yelling for someone to open the door and let her out.

Sharlene Tries to Get Out of the Warehouse; John Goes to Surgery, 1991
Sharlene hears a bum outside the warehouse and pleads with him to let her out of the warehouse, explaining that she's been locked inside and she's pregnant and due to deliver soon and offering to pay him if he'll just open the door. Back at the hospital, Michael sees John off to surgery, and Ronnie and Michael both promise to get Sharlene to recovery by the time John is there after his surgery. Sharlene almost gets through to the bum, but he gets scared off by police sirens, leaving her still stuck in the warehouse. Noticing a window high up on the far wall, she pushes a crate over by the wall that she can use as a makeshift stepladder to reach the window and try to get out of the warehouse that way.

John After His Surgery; Sharlene Falls, 1991
Michael runs into Taylor Benson when he's leaving John's hospital room after John's surgery. Taylor pushes past Michael to see John for herself. But John only wants to see Sharlene, and despite Taylor trying to put him off and talk about other things, like his surgery, John asks Taylor to find Sharlene for him. In the warehouse, Sharlene gets the crate positioned below the window but loses her balance when she climbs up on it, falling to the cold, dirty warehouse floor. John dreams of Sharlene, and bolts upright in bed calling her name after he has a nightmare that she drifts away from him into blackness. Meanwhile, Sharlene lies unconscious on the warehouse floor.

John Talks to His Surgeon and to Taylor; Sharlene Wakes Up, 1991
The morning after John's knee surgery, John's surgeon Dr. Garvey gives him a very optimistic prognosis: although he can't guarantee John will be able to walk without his cane, the surgery removed the shrapnel and repaired the damage in John's knee. As far as Garvey is concerned, the surgery was a total success. John is to be on complete bedrest for two days and then start therapy. John tries to bargain Garvey down to one day of therapy, but all Garvey will agree to do is evaluate John after the drain comes out tomorrow. When John learns from Ronnie that Ronnie hasn't seen Sharlene since last night, he instantly worries and starts to get out of bed, determined to find his wife, but Taylor comes in then and says she might know where Sharlene is and tells John that she (Taylor) can't keep the truth from him any longer.
Meanwhile, Sharlene awakens in the warehouse and is scared for the baby until she feels him kick. She breaks down crying and thanks God when she feels the baby move. She tells the baby not to worry, Mama's going to get them out of here.
Taylor tries to convince John that Sharly has re-emerged, but John doesn't believe that, especially when Taylor says she hasn't seen Sharly. John insists that Sharlene wouldn't let this happen again and there has to be another reason Sharlene is missing right now. John could always tell when Sharly was coming because there were signs, but there haven't been any signs since Sharlene came back. John is ready to say to hell with Dr. Garvey and starts to get out of bed again. Taylor finally agrees to find Sharlene if John will only stay in bed. John asks her to promise that she will call him if she finds Sharlene. She does. But out in the hall, Taylor tells Dr. Garvey that she thinks John should be sedated to ensure he stays in bed. Dr. Garvey brought some sedatives, and he goes into John's room to give them to him.

John Talks to His Surgeon Some More; Taylor Finds Sharlene, 1991
Dr. Garvey tells John that it's natural for him to be worried about his wife, but that this is a critical time in his recovery and he could suffer a setback if he should do something rash. He instructs John to stay on complete bedrest for 24 hours with a minimum of movement. John tells Garvey that he loves Sharlene and she is the most important thing in his life. Garvey tells John that if John were to re-injure himself, they might never be able to undo the damage. In two days, John begins physical therapy, and assuming that goes well, Garvey believes that John will soon be walking without his cane. John says he'll burn the damn cane. Garvey gives John the pills and tells him to take them and rest. John takes the pills. In the corridor outside John's room, Taylor gives Ronnie a note to give to John after he wakes up. Ronnie tells Taylor it's really strange that Sharlene isn't at the hospital, and Ronnie hopes Sharlene is all right. Taylor cryptically says that everything will work out for the best.
In the warehouse, Sharlene gets to her feet, finds a wooden board, and tries to use it to pry the warehouse door open, but the door won't budge. She has a memory of Sharly, but loudly exclaims that she doesn't need Sharly because she can do this by herself. Then the door opens, and it's Taylor. Sharlene is so relieved that she hugs Taylor.

John Goes After Sharlene; Sharlene Goes Into Labor, 1991
John bucks medical advice, having not taken the pills Garvey gave him after all, gets dressed, and is determined to go after Sharlene. He only becomes more determined after Ronnie gives him Taylor's note. Meanwhile, at the warehouse, Sharlene worries about John and only wants to get back to him, but Taylor tries to convince Sharlene to commit herself to the psychiatric ward at the hospital because, according to Taylor, Sharly is back. Like John, Sharlene does not believe that Sharlene is coming back. Sharlene tells Taylor about the phone call from Judy the prostitute, and that she had a memory of Sharly and did not let her come back when Sharlene got scared when she was locked in the warehouse. Taylor persists in trying to get Sharlene to commit herself but is completely caught off guard when Sharlene goes into labor!

The Birth of Gregory John Hudson, 1991--Part 1
John arrives at the warehouse and is happily reunited with Sharlene, who tells him that she fell but she felt the baby move after that, and that her water broke after the pains started. Her contractions are hard and only a few minutes apart. Taylor continues trying to sandbag Sharlene by trying to tell John that she was disoriented when Taylor found her, but John barks at Taylor that Sharlene is in labor and to go and get his truck. Taylor tampers with John's truck so that it's not drivable. John checks Sharlene and tells her that she's almost fully dilated. In between contractions, she asks John about the surgery, and he assures her that everything is fine. Sharlene is soon in the throes of heavy labor, and John tells her not to fight it, and to breathe. He breathes with her. John and Sharlene wonder where Taylor is. When she finally returns, Taylor lies that neither John's truck nor her car will start and the pay phone is dead and she was unable to flag down a car. Sharlene feels like she wants to push, and John tells her they're going to have the baby here! Sharlene worries that something might go wrong since she fell. John tells Sharlene everything will be fine; he has delivered babies in much worse condition than this. John tells Taylor to roll up her coat and put it behind Sharlene. Taylor says she's going to go for help, but John tells her to get his medical bag out of his truck and come right back. Sharlene tells John she's scared but she can't wait to meet their baby. Neither can John. Sharlene asks John how his leg is, and he tells her he's forgotten all about it. Sharlene tells John he's such a liar, and not to worry about her because she can do this. John knows she can, and in a few minutes she'll be holding their baby. Another contraction hits, John checks Sharlene, and the baby is crowning! John can see the head! He tells Sharlene to take a deep breath, bear down, and push, and she does.

Cass and Frankie 1990--Really Hung Up on Togetherness
Cass happily watches Frankie deal her tarot cards in bed and tells her he's in love with her. Frankie asks Cass if he can prove he's in love with her. He tells her to give him a few decades and then ask him again. Frankie replies that he can prove it right now, and says the next card she deals will tell them the whole story. Cass is surprised when Frankie deals the next card and then says she's leaving. She gets out of bed and gets her suitcase and Cass asks her where she's going. She tells him that the cards show that in order for them to have a long and happy future together, they have to live apart until after their wedding, so she's moving back to her place. But Cass doesn't want Frankie to go. While she packs, she tells Cass she's been thinking about a wedding date and asks when he wants to get married. He replies that if she's going to move out until after the wedding, he'd like to get married tomorrow. She tells him that's really sweet. However, she was thinking about the 4th of July. Cass agrees, grinning as he tells Frankie that he'll be a Yankee Doodle Dandy. Frankie says that gives them five weeks until the wedding, which is plenty of time for her to get a dress, plus everyone will have the day off on the 4th of July, so anyone who doesn't come to their wedding will be someone that they know doesn't really like them. Cass is unhappy about having to sleep without Frankie for five weeks. She remarks that he's really hung up on this togetherness stuff, isn't he? He tells her he's really hung up on her. He loves her. She kisses him and asks him if he loves her enough to make her breakfast and then asks him to get her bag. He picks up Frankie's suitcase and follows her out of his bedroom, but a few seconds later, Frankie's suitcase comes sailing back into the bedroom from the hall, and Cass can be heard telling Frankie to carry her own bag.
