Anyone plan on watching this year? Not me and not only do I NOT know what day/time they will be airing but I don't even know what channel is the *CW* in our cable package. Never seen one of their shows.
Just think it's a shame that they couldn't include at least ONE former AW cast member as a presenter since it has been 10 years since the show went off the air. But then given the fact that AW wasn't acknowledged AT ALL ~ except by LD, SS & LP ~ at the Daytime Emmys in 1999 the year it was yanked off the air, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. And how's about a Lifetime Achievement Award for Victoria Wyndham (or maybe even LD for that matter though VW definitely deserves one given the number of years she was on the air ~ over 25 on AW alone).

I usually watch out of curiosity more than anything else. The Emmy show itself has been so poorly produced the past few years. Maybe the CW can do a better job with it than the networks who actually air the soaps but apparently couldn't care less about honoring them.
I know it's set to air on August 30th with Vanessa Williams(Ugly Betty's Wilhelmina) as host and, from what I've read, a tribute to Guiding Light is planned.
Anyone planning to watch the last epi of GL? Though I've never been a regular viewer I may........just to see how it compares to the AW(two thumbs down )finale. |

At least host Vanessa Williams was an AW watcher ~

When is the last epi of GL supposed to air? Can't say that I will be watching cuz I have no idea what's going on on that soap. I know that there are great characters like Reva and that AW alum RPG was Gus but other than that, not too familiar with GL. I did watch the epi's when LD was Lena Kendall back in 2005.
You didn't like the AW finale? Why? A fake gorilla sitting in a tree with Cass while the entire cast sings & dances to some goofus song that's playing on a boom box wasn't your idea of a Grand Finale? What wasn't to like? {insert Nettie rolling eyes and making the infamous "deadpan face" that her friends & family have grown to love, or, perhaps, accept} I was floored when I read after the cancellation notice that Christopher Goutman had not planned any montages in the final show or even the final week. The montages were the BEST! Oh well, I guess that's what YT is all about now.

I plan on watching the Daytime Emmys. You never know who will be presenting or who we will see in the audience. I am hoping that some AW people will be there. Maybe LD? SS? I just want to see who will be there. You never know!!! As far as the AW finale, well what I liked the best is when they were making the video and they were looking right into the camera talking to us!!! The last scene was sad too. |

The Light will go out on September 18th. I don't follow it either but am familiar with some of the peeps on the show....and I am curious to see how they handle the finale. IMO it wouldn't take much to improve on what Chris Goutman did with AW. He seemed so promising when he became the executive producer, making every effort to bring some of our favorites back(Alice Barrett chief among them), but choked when it really counted. The show was dying a slow death anyway but it deserved a better ending... and so did the fans. |
