Thanx, *KG* and if by "real world" you mean that I can no longer just say two of my fav words ~ "Bloody Mary" ~ and a drink magically appears, let's jes say I'm gettin' used to the idea. Not likin' it, but gettin' used to it. As fer feelin' better...we are hopin' to do jes that in the next 5 days we still have off from work. Nasty strain of crud goin' around.
*TG* ~ is Last Day of School a good thing or a bad thing? My oldest niece graduated from high school last night. Celebrated by gettin' a tat earlier in the day and then she put a big ol' hot pink peace sign on the top of her graduation cap.
Saw Evander Holyfield at our hotel in Vegas a couple of days ago. Got to check him over pretty good whilst we were both waitin' to get our omelets in the buffet line and I'm happy to report that he has two perfect little ears.
Happy Hump Day!

I relapsed again last night. Congestion, drainage down the throat, and a headache that still hasn't completely gone away. I'm beginning to think that because it's not cold, the germs aren't going to die like they do in the winter. I know it would be one for the record books, but we need about 35 degrees Fahrenheit here to kill all these germs, because my mom's got it again too!
I'm not as bad as I was last week, and for that I'm thankful, but I really want to get rid of this sneezing, congestion, runny/stuffy nose thing that's making my head hurt because everything is so stuffed up. And of course my doctor's office hasn't called me back yet because half the city has some form of this.
I've never been this sick in the summertime before in my life, and now I know without any doubt: being sick in the summer really stinks! It's harder to shake a summer cold/flu/sinus infection than it is to shake the same thing in the fall or winter, and I'm convinced it's because of the weather. It's hot, humid, and overcast here.
How's everybody else doing? Nettie, are you any better? How's the DH? Are you surviving summer vacation so far, Wendy?

Not completely over the crud either Amy but went back to work today (took time off for illness & vacation). Boy, this strain is somethin' else. Been coughing so much it makes the throat scratchy and then makes me wonder if it's startin' all over again cuz the sore throat was the kickoff when I started this thing almost 3 weeks ago.
Jes found out that my niece (the one that jes graduated) is being treated for the swine flu! Sis thought she had a sinus infection and took her to the doc and it turns out she has the strain. Amy ~ maybe you better go to the doc if you haven't already. My poor sis has been battling nasty allergies herself and doesn't have the energy to be runnin' around gettin' meds, etc. The doc told sis that by fall, jes about EVERYONE will be battling the swine flu. Sounds wonderful, eh?
The only upside I see to bein' sick (there's always gotta be an *upside* right?) is that my appetite has been suppressed. Ordinarily, I'm a food pouncer (like my gurl LD) but for the past 3 weeks I've been eatin' maybe two meals a day cuz I gotta. My *snack sensors* have been way low so maybe I can shed some of this *baby fat* I've been carrying around for decades.
Hope you feel (and stay) better soon Amy!

Hehe...and I thought we had a lot of cats with our two! In her defense, the kitties do look very healthy and the place is clean. But what was that thing on her head? Looked liked something from one of Felicia's weddings .
Thanks for the Jas well wishes. I've set her up with the digi player today and all her fav Mitch vids are on *repeat* play. >^..^<

Jasmine was a pretty sick kitty there for a couple of days ~ I've NEVER had a cat do the projectile vomiting thing. She is recovering now (as are my carpets) and I think she'll be back to her old self (eatin' everything in sight ~ which may have been what made her sick to begin with) before long. It was like she had the kitty flu.
Niece #1 is still not feelin' so hot & now Niece #2 is comin' down with it. Sis is gonna talk to the doc about gettin' #2 on Tamaflu as well. Gotta keep a close eye on #1 cuz she is diabetic and dat's not a good combo with the flu. Dat's why we're keepin' mom far away from them since she wants to go over and nurse her grandkids.
Hope Amy (and her mom) are feelin' better too!
Hey, TG ~ did ya see the Joe Barbara interview today over at AWT? Here's what he had to say about Yer Boy (and a certain other co-star or two) ~
| Quote: |
AWT: What are some of your favorites memories of life in Bay City?
JB: I loved doing the black and white 40s film noir scenes with Judi (Evans Luciano; Paulina) in the detective office. I loved getting shot and doing stunts. I absolutely loved about 75% of my scenes with Tommy (Eplin; Jake), and hated the other 25% of them. Working with Linda (Dano; Felicia) and Steve Schnetzer (Cass) was great. Kim Rhodes (Cindy) and I usually came up with something that amused us, if nobody else.
|
Hmmm....makes me wonder why he hated the 25%
Here's a link to the entire interview with JB ~

Naders? We are lucky we don't get too many of those out here and if so, they're kinda small. Now earthquakes, we got earthquakes.
Hope y'all are enjoyin' *Hump Day*.

WOW, have I missed talking with you all! Relapses are MUCH worse than the original illness! I haven't been this sick in almost 6 1/2 years!
It did have a long-term bright side, though. I'm now taking Claritin D for my sinuses and allergies instead of Benadryl, and my sinuses haven't been this clear in years! It turns out that the Benadryl was drying up the mucus but not letting me get rid of it, which is why I've had so many headaches this year. Well, that and I've had chronic sinusitis and chronic allergic rhinitis for most of the year. The Cephalexin that I took for my sore throat is a high-powered antibiotic, and it also knocked out the sinusitis. Then I paired that up with the Claritin D, which I'm still taking once a day as prescribed, and that has caused me to be able to clear out my sinuses almost completely when they fill up because of allergies or sinus issues. There's no sign of infection, and I haven't had a headache since Monday, which is a record for me...and I haven't had any Benadryl since last Saturday (I'm now afraid to take it, actually, because it made me feel so funky when I took it last weekend, since I was still pretty bad off with the headache/body ache/flu combo). The flu was viral, so I just had to let that run its course, and push fluids and chicken soup (that's how I knew I was sick--it only tastes good when I'm sick), and I'm finally pretty much recovered, for good this time. And my mom is too--we just have the coughs still.
I hope you and your nieces and Jasmine all get to feeling better soon, Nettie!
YIKES, Wendy! I've lived through one tornado in my life, and that was more than enough! No way I could do another one, and certainly not two in the sky in the same week!
Hope The Attitude Kid gets his hiney in gear with one semester middle school and one semester high school, Wendy!
Grandmas always want to nurse their grandkids. I remember my grandma always insisting on coming over and helping out whenever any of us were sick. And it really came in handy when 2 or more of us were sick at the same time, which was usually the case. All four of us had the chicken pox at the same time. Aaron was only 11 months old, and he had the lightest case. Adam and I had it the worst. That was a rough two weeks (this is back when they insisted you completely recover before you return to school--not that I minded the time off, I just hated being so sick).

Glad to hear you are better, Amy.
I forgot one more thing about the Joe Barbara interview at AWT. He said this about his current project ~
| Quote: |
| However, if you're ever in Vegas, please come see Jersey Boys and say hello after the show. I'd love to meet you. |
I was jes in Vegas last week!!!! If this interview had come out BEFORE I was down there, I would have tried to get tickets and popped backstage to see him. RATS!

WGN out of Chicago used to run Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie when I was a little girl--I mean, really little. I remember watching them when I was 3 and 4 years old. Well, when I was so sick the past two weeks, I discovered that they show them again in the afternoons like when I was a little girl Monday through Friday, and now they also show an hour of each show on Sunday nights! So I've taken to watching them again, and it's nice. I'm making new memories of something that is part of some of my most cherished childhood memories. My grandma introduced me to Bewitched because it was one of her favorite shows when it was originally on in the '60s. In fact, I even went through a phase of about a year when I was 4 where I called her "Grandmama" like Tabitha called Endora on the show. She'd watch it with me when I was little. I Dream of Jeannie was on right after Bewitched (both when I was little and again today), and once I saw that animated cartoon opening credits sequence, that was it. That was actually my first favorite non-cartoon/Muppets/kiddie show...so much so that I named the first cat we got Jeannie, after Barbara Eden's character in the show.
And now I see it from a grown-up's perspective, which is also cool. For example, I Dream of Jeannie: it's still funny, and Larry Hagman still looks cute in that Air Force officer's uniform, but there's also humor in the way that Tony, Jeannie, and Roger Healey screwed with Dr. Bellows' head for five years (and Mrs. Bellows' head for three). They weren't malicious about it, but they HAD to make the Bellows' think they (the Bellows') were going crazy, because if they ever HAD found out the truth, Dr. Bellows really would have put all three of them in a psych hospital, which they didn't deserve. As for Bewitched, Dick York is my favorite Darrin, but Dick Sargent did an admirable job when he took over the role in season 6, and he played it differently than Dick York, which was important and was good for the show on a lot of levels. By the time Dick Sargent assumed the role of Darrin Stephens, Darrin and Samantha had been married for 6 years, so Darrin was as used to Sam's family as he was going to get. He was a little less panicky every single time something went wrong because of witchcraft, but he did still have the occasional meltdown over something really big, and Darrin still was not that fond of Endora, still thought Dr. Bombay was a quack, and was still exasperated with Esmeralda when she messed things up unintentionally because she wasn't very good at witchcraft, plus they had Tabitha getting older (she was 7 when the series ended), and they had to deal with her powers, and when she would do things she shouldn't, like turning the class bully into a bullfrog (if only I could have done that!), and then Adam was born, and he was a toddler by the end of the show. You know, I honestly don't remember if Adam was mortal or a warlock. It'll be fun finding out. Of course, I'm also still trying to figure out which branch of the service Roger Healey was in, the Marines or the Army, because his uniform was green, and Air Force uniforms are not green. I may have to look into that on the web if I Dream of Jeannie never answers the question. Of course, I didn't think that Army officers were eligible to be astronauts, at least in the 1960s; all the astronauts I know of from back then were either Air Force (like Tony Nelson) or Navy officers, and I think there were a few Marine officers. At any rate, I know that NASA was accepting Marines into the astronaut program by the '80s. So, was Roger Healey a Marine aviator, or an Army aviator? Hmmm....
ETA: I just HAD to look it up, and Roger Healy was in the Army, although no real-life astronauts at the time were:
"Tony Nelson was a captain in the Air Force, while Roger Healey was a captain in the Army, shown clearly in color when Nelson wears a blue uniform and Healey wears a green one. Healey is in the Army Corps of Engineers, according to his lapel insignia, and wears Army pilot wings which are distinct from Nelson's Air Force pilot wings. There were no Army astronauts until the Space Shuttle program. Healey is seen piloting the capsule in season 1. Both Healey and Nelson were promoted to major in a later episode of the first season, "How Lucky Can You Get?" [February 19, 1966]."
