Im on a writing binge

For the most part this story is only going to concentrate on them and their families. Getting into everything else would get complicated.

Part 4:

Next day

A quite nervous Adam shows up at the McKinnon house. Vince and Mary are waiting in the kitchen as M.J. has told them to be there because there's something they need to know.

M.J. greets Adam outside the door and says "They only know there's something they need to know. I have told them nothing else."

Adam "Okay. How are you feeling today? How was your first day working for Cass?"

M.J. "It went as expected and I'm feeling pretty good."

They open the door and find Vince and Mary waiting for them.

Vince "Okay what's going on?"

M.J. "Well we might as well come out and say it. I'm pregnant."

Vince "And okay when is the wedding."

M.J. "We're not getting married. And Adam said he'd marry me but I said no. We have to work through a lot."

Adam "I think that maybe we'll be able to work it out and we will get married in the future. Maybe even not in the too distant future."

M.J. is a bit startled at this but doesn't say anything.

Vince "As long as you stand by my daughter and my grandchild, and it's M.J.'s wishes I won't break your neck."

M.J. hugs Vince and Vince and Adam shake hands.

Mary "How are you feeling, M.J.? When is the baby due?"

M.J. "I'm feeling okay, the baby is due at the end of March. A touch of morning sickness and a little dizziness sometimes."

After a few more minutes of baby talk Adam says "I have to get back to the station."

M.J. "I'll walk you out."

They head outside.

After they are alone outside M.J. asks "Did you really mean it when you said you think we can work this out and get married someday?"

Adam "I have been doing a lot of thinking since yesterday. Yes we do have issues to work through but I want to work on those issues. I don't have as much of a problem with your past it's that you hid it from me but on the other hand that was years ago and you're a different person now. And we have a baby to think about."

The moment is broken when Adam's famous beeper goes off. (note to friends who didn't see them back then. Every time they started to get busy so to speak his beeper went off.)

The next week or so nothing really happens. Adam tells his parents and word gets around a little bit.

Then the day of the sonogram comes.

Adam shows up in the exam room as M.J. is ready for the exam and says "Sorry I'm late. Got tied up at the station house.."

M.J. "They haven't started yet. You're just in time."

Adam walks over as the technician sets up and says "In a few seconds you'll see your baby on the screen."

They wait a few seconds and the image of their baby is on the screen and as the technician pojnts and tells them what's what Adam grabs M.J.'s hand and says "Wow that's amazing."

After the exam the technician says "I will send the results along to your doctor but everything looks fine to me..'

After they leave Adam says "I don't have to be at the station for a little while. If you don't have to get back to Cass' office right away why don't we have lunch."

M.J. "Sounds good. I'm starving. Eating for two they don't exaggerate it!"

They head off where they decide to go to Tops and when they walk in of course everyone and their uncle turn and look.

They settle in a quiet booth.

Felicia heads over and asks "Is there something going on I should know about? I mean I know you're having a baby but is there something going on?"

With a meaningful look at M.J. Adam says "Not yet but something is starting to go on"
