I LOVE Nik's dress, Marlo! That's actually something I would wear if it were in my size. The dogs are being really good sports. None of our pets would let any of us hold their ears up like that. And you also have a beautiful tree. I just LOVE Christmas! Very Happy

Love the pics, Marlo!!  They all looked like they were having so much fun in the pics.   BTW, do you have an older home?  The detail of the wood, stairs, and flooring caught my eye, really before I noticed the kids and the dogs.

Ugh I wrote this long post and stupid me didn't hit submit  and hit back! UGH!

Amy,  Thank!   Nik has an American Girl doll dress very close to it and when we were at Costco he fell in love with this one and we couldn't apss it up since it was only 18.99!

Janie,  Yes our house was built in 1891.   Years ago it was used as a boarding house for an acting group called the Woodstock Player.  We are told alot of famous people stayed here, Gerildine Page, Tom Bosley (Mr. C), Paul Newman and Orson Wells!

The floors are original as well as a few stained glass windows.  I am sure the dogs are ruining the floors though:(

I love this house!  he only bummer is it only has one bathroom so we have NIO privacy!  If we stay I am sure we will be adding a 2nd bathroom!

Marlo, I am envious of your home!  We looked for 2 1/2 years for an old farm house like that and ended up with a one story ranch!  I am not disappointed now but I do miss not having one to raise the kids in.  We both grew up in old farm houses.

Your daughter has the kind of face that is like a grown up.  She is going to be GORGEOUS when she is older.

When we decided on this house it needed new flooring.  DH wanted ALL carpet.  That is what he had and he was afraid of cold feet in the winter.

I grew up on very old one inch lathe like wood floors.  Like what you see in the movies from the 20's.  My parents still live there.   I won the ahem, discussion, and we have wood floors everywhere but the Master Bedroom and the Living Room.  He LOVES them!

I would never do carpet in main traffic areas again.  Or the kitchen and baths.  The house we moved out of was just retarded.

Love the history of your house, Marlo!  Don't be surprised if one of yer kids gets bitten by the acting bug.

Our house has hardwood underneath the carpet in all the rooms but the back "family/TV" room, which was an add-on later.  The floors have been covered by carpet for years (before us) and we have continued that (the DH's desire) in all except the dining room (had to have somewhere for the dust bunnies to flourish).  Maybe one day we'll rip up the carpet (new at this point) and re-do the floors but I doubt it.  The DH isn't much into renovating.

thanks Javaamma, Interesting you say that bout Nik she has always been older then she really is.  I can't explain it but she has lways been an old soul...

I am so with you on the hardwood!  We have carpet in our beroom but we need to rip it up big time.  We took Kyle's carpet up because of alleries and omg it was so gross underneith!  If at all possible i will never have carpet again!

As fpr the cold feet get him slippers!  LOL

i love old houses!
