Breaking News from SoapCentral.com says that Ricky Paull Goldin has signed on with AMC to take over the role of *Jake Martin.* I think I saw this character years ago because he was romantically involved with Alla Korot's character (they both played doctors, I think) and was watching Alla on AMC for a while. Maybe they will bring her character back and it will be Dean & Jenna all grown up playing doctor!!
Then, maybe they will bring back RC as Skye Chandler and then they gotta bring LD back as her mother cuz mama never did tell Skye who her real daddy was (Lucas?). Actually, LOVED RC as Skye (better than Lorna) BUT hated Rae as her mama cuz she was so weak compared to MamaBear Felicia. Monica Quartermaine would regularly make mincemeat out of Rae and it made me cringe every time. I was yelling at the screen (Amy knows how this feels) "Where's Intervention Felicia?" Scream back!! Make that scary Felicia face!! Put the beyotch in her place!! DO SOMETHING!!!
Whoops, I got carried away (again!) ~ Just wanted to post the breaking RPG news!!

Yes, that was near the end of my AMC-watching days--Alla Korot played Dr. Allie Doyle. And she was romantically involved with Dr. Jake Martin, then played by Michael Lowry. Confession time: that's actually who my cat Jake was named after. So it was a soap character, just not one of the best soap characters ever. (He started off okay, but then he started bird-dogging his brother Tad's exes, and he was so judgmental about Allie when her secret was revealed, and he humiliated her in public, and I never forgave him for that. So I just felt like Jake was a cool name for my cat--and how they got Jake out of Joseph Edward Martin, Jr., which is the character's actual name, I'll never know.)
RPG would make a MUCH better Jake Martin. (Of course it also helps that the aforementioned exes aren't in town anymore.)
And maybe Allie finally has her medical license (it came out that she flunked the medical boards, so she was fired; she had the knowledge, she saved lives, she just didn't have the actual, you know, certification). Don't know if they'd bring back AK and reunite her with Ricky Paull's Jake, but that, I actually would have to see if they did.
Y'all know who Greenlee is played by, right? Rebecca Budig.
RC left GH, so maybe Skye will be going home to AMC. I too loved RC as Skye back when I was in junior high. Wouldn't it be wild if they hooked up Jake and Skye if RC came back and RPG was playing Jake?
If they started getting AW alumni on AMC, that's the only thing that would make me watch it again.

That's sort of what happened to LD's character "Gretel 'Rae' Cummings" on OLTL ~ she flunked her tests (was determined to be too emotionally involved for a shrink), stole some guy named "Ray Cummings" certificate only it was misspelled and said "Rae Cummings" and Rae was Gretel's middle name or some dumb coinkydink like that (it's LD's real middle name) and she took the certificate and started a shrink practice. The truth kind of came out at her "Woman of the Year" ceremony (that soap is sooo lame).
Is Rebecca Budig someone I should know?

AMC used to do those "Woman of the Year" things too. The most infamous one was when Erica Kane was higher than a kite on prescription painkillers the night that she was being honored as "Woman of the Year," and started roasting all of the people that were there to see her shine. It's been 12 years, and I still remember--as would most AMC viewers if you asked them, I bet--how Erica shredded her then-sister-in-law Dr. Maria Santos Grey, calling her "St. Maria of the push-up bra, tending to the sick." (Maria was played by Eva LaRue, who now stars on CSI: Miami.)
I think they stopped having them after Erica's public spectacle. It was only ever her or Brooke English that won anyway, and Brooke's not there anymore.
I don't think you'd see that kind of behavior out of Rachel, Felicia, Iris, or Donna if they were being honored as Bay City's "Woman of the Year," and if you did, it wouldn't be as campy as Erica was.

Oh, I ABSOLUTELY know how that feels! I still do it, it's just not directed at Cass anymore.
I assume you mean the dad part... RPG recently lost his father.
That is what I meant. I am really sorry to hear that. My father is ill and we have all been preparing for the worst. It's a terrible thing to go through. . . . _________________

I lost my dad 6 years ago in January, and my mother a year ago next month. Both were in nursing homes in their last years. Mother suffered a debilitating stroke and her condition got progressively worse. In between them, I lost my older sister 4 years ago last nearly-pre-Turkey-day to effects of breast cancer recurrence. I'm down to 1 sister now and her 2 daughters (OK, scattered aunts and cousins too but they're off making $$$ and are in their own orbits) --I'm very glad and thankful I still have them. Time is a help but it doesn't quite heal **all** wounds.
Even at my worst times, when I'm no good at work, or wanna stuff my face (instead of booze/drugs/gambling/etc), I have to tell myself that sis, Mother, and Dad are all in better places now and do not suffer anymore. One-sided conversations don't come very easily though
