Hey, everyone!
Lots of clips for you this week. Thank you, as always, to Janie for the 1992 scenes, and to Eddie for the Mac and Rachel (and family) scenes. Enjoy! (And Cass and Frankie fans won't want to miss the 1989 clips of them this week! )

Dean & Jenna--Beating Roger Jackson at His Own Game
Jenna finds Dean at the site of what was supposed to be his concert the day after he gets out of the hospital and asks him what he's thinking. He tells her he's thinking of a way to get back at Roger Jackson. Jenna tells him to be careful, because he just got out of the hospital, and she knows Dean will do anything to get back. Dean says Jenna knows him very well. Jenna asks Dean to promise her that whatever he decides to do about Roger Jackson, it won't stop him from concentrating on his music. Dean says he can't concentrate on his music when Roger Jackson is in his face all the time. Jenna reminds Dean of all the people at the hospital last night, and Tommy. Dean says he's not going to let any of them down; he's going to make a huge comeback. First he's going to round up all of the street musicians, all of the talent that guys like Roger Jackson won't give an opportunity to, and Dean will give them that opportunity. When Jenna says she can see Roger Jackson's face when he realizes that a mistake he made by letting Dean go, Dean tells Jenna he's going to beat Roger Jackson at his own game, and it's going to be tonight. Jenna tells Dean to meet her at TOPS because she's meeting Felicia there, and she wants some details and some answers then. Dean agrees to meet Jenna at TOPS after he goes by D&M first and to give her answers then. He tells he loves her and kisses her goodbye, and Jenna calls after him to be careful. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Lorna and Ada--Time to Nail Roger Jackson
Lorna comes bounding into the Paradise and tells Ada it's time to nail Jackson. Ada asks what Lorna has in mind. Lorna reminds Ada of their little plan about Lorna. Ada asks if Lorna is sure she wants to do this. Lorna says absolutely, and tonight, Roger Jackson will wish the only thing he ever wanted to do with Lorna was shake her hand. Ada tells Lorna to brace herself, because here comes Roger Jackson. Roger approaches the two women and tells Ada he's having a cocktail party tonight for some business associates. This is the first Ada is hearing about it. When Roger tells Ada that she does wonderful things on short notice, Ada replies that she also quits on short notice. Roger tells Lorna he wants her at the party because the evening wouldn't be the same without her.
Ada tosses silverware into a bin. Lorna returns and confirms the arrangements she made for the limos with fully stocked bars and music available only on the Ace Records label for Roger's guests. Roger approves, but tells Lorna he is disappointed that she didn't stop Dean from performing last night. Lorna points out that she didn't let Dean's little accident ruin Sam's night and Lorna assures Roger she won't miss tonight's party. He tells Lorna to have Ada call his assistant if she has any questions about the setup. After Jackson leaves, Lorna complains to Ada about what a moron Jackson is. Ada isn't sure that Lorna is right in believing that Lorna can teach Roger Jackson a lesson because he didn't give too hoots whether or not Dean died last night, and that makes Jackson very dangerous. Lorna replies that she thrives on danger, especially with that man. Ada asks what Kevin would say if he knew that Lorna was hitching up her skirt just a little bit higher to come on to Roger Jackson. Lorna replies that it's none of Kevin's business. Ada counters that it is if Lorna and Kevin want to have a relationship, and isn't that what they want?
Ada wonders if Lorna's recklessness with Roger has something to do with Kevin. Lorna says what Kevin doesn't know won't hurt him, and when Ada suggests that Ada call Kevin and tell him that Lorna is about to weld herself to Roger Jackson's side, Lorna says Ada can't call Kevin because he's not home, and Lorna doesn't know where he is, probably out of town someplace. Ada says it seems to her that Lorna and Kevin could have a little talk and straighten things out. Lorna says she doesn't feel like talking about it right now. Ada says whenever Lorna is ready, then; Ada may have a big mouth, but she knows how to keep a secret, so talk to her. Lorna says she knows that, but right now she has to concentrate on making sure Roger Jackson gets what is due him. Ada asks if Lorna is worried about her job, and Lorna replies that she's betting he can't afford to lose her. Ada asks how much damage Lorna can do on a scale of 1 to 10, and Lorna replies close to 100, and Ada will have front-row seats. Then Lorna leaves to go find the shortest, sexiest dress she can. Ada calls after her to be careful, says, "Kids," in exasperation and throws her tea towel over her shoulder. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Felicia's First Slip, and a Talk With Jenna
At TOPS, Felicia is taken aback when she plays her tape-recorded notes on her latest book for Jenna and doesn't sound anything like herself. On the tape, Felicia sounds as if she's in a fog, and is speaking in disjointed sentences and not finishing her thoughts. When Felicia asks how Dean is doing, Jenna assures Felicia that Dean is fine, but Jenna is not happy with Lorna for her part in the events of the night before, even though Felicia points out that Lorna was only doing what she is paid to do. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Dean, Jenna, Felicia--Dean's Plan to Get Roger Jackson
Felicia can't believe what they heard on the tape, because she really thought she had some good ideas on there. Jenna suggests that Felicia might be able to concentrate better in a more private environment, but Felicia says no, she likes it at TOPS because she has everything she needs, and she tells Jenna to stop worrying about her, go find Dean, and have some fun. Dean arrives then. Felicia asks him how he feels, and he tells her he's fine. Felicia is glad to hear it. Dean fills Jenna and Felicia in on his plan: substitute his music for Sam at Jackson's party at the Paradise. Dean reminds Felicia and Jenna of the time he commandeered TOPS' sound system to play his music. Felicia reminds Dean that she didn't think very much of it when he did it at TOPS. Dean tells Felicia he's not trying to be Jackson's best buddy, and adds that he's convinced that Jackson is the reason he got fried last night, so it would look like he was disappointing his fans again. Jenna gleefully says Roger will hate this. Felicia then tells Jenna and Dean she wants to help them, because Roger Jackson is such a lowlife, she'd like to do something to him, and besides Felicia thinks everyone at that party should hear Dean's music. Felicia offers to create a distraction, which Dean and Jenna both think is a great idea, and the trio set out for the Paradise. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Ada, Felicia, Jenna, Dean, and Lorna vs. Roger Jackson
Roger Jackson tells Ada that the sky is the limit, and whatever the people want, they jump, is he clear? Ada tells him he's as clear as a Mexican jumping bean. Lorna arrives then in a slinky black dress, and Jackson tells her how lovely she looks. Lorna fills him in on the arrangements she made for his guests for the evening. Jackson tells Lorna her talents are wasted at D&M. Lorna says she likes working at D&M, but she always thought she was capable of more. Roger Jackson offers to train her to oversee a growing acquisition, including first-class travel with suitable companionship. Lorna tells him she's interested. Felicia and Jenna walk in then and see Lorna all over Roger Jackson. They promptly turn around and head back outside, where Jenna blows her stack about Lorna's actions. Felicia tries to defend Lorna to Jenna, saying Lorna has a good explanation for what she's doing. Dean arrives then and is surprised that Jenna is surprised that Lorna was all over Roger Jackson. Jenna says she thought Lorna had a shred of loyalty to Dean. Dean says he doesn't care what Lorna does, he has to find a way to get his tape past Roger Jackson and to Ada. Felicia volunteers to take care of that, and Dean and Jenna spy to make sure that Felicia's diversion is working. After Dean takes off to deliver his tape, Lorna comes outside and she and Jenna argue. Lorna asks Jenna why she's there, and Jenna gets angry at Lorna for fawning all over Roger Jackson. Lorna tells Jenna that what Jenna sees and what is actually going on are two different things. Jenna challenges Lorna to prove it. They're interrupted by the arrival of Roger's guests. When they're alone again, Jenna tells Lorna that Felicia has asked Jenna many times to be a sister to Lorna, but Jenna has realized that Lorna's not worth it. Lorna asks if Jenna wants to listen to her now. Jenna ignores Lorna and says Lorna is probably dating the man who killed their father. So much for family values. Felicia overhears this last accusation of Jenna's and is taken aback.
Jenna then goes off with Dean, and Felicia and Lorna go back inside the Paradise, where Felicia demands to know what's going on with Lorna and Roger Jackson, pointing out that even Lorna knows that Roger Jackson takes advantage of everyone. Lorna puts her mother off, saying she can't talk about it right now because she has a score to settle. Felicia won't let up and insists on knowing what's going on. Ada interrupts them then to tell them she's all set, and then asks to talk to Felicia alone, restaurant manager to restaurant manager. Before going off with Ada, Felicia tells Lorna that she is not finished with her. In a hilarious bit of imitation (I wonder if it was in the script, or if Alicia Coppola improvised this?), once Felicia's back is turned, Lorna makes the same face Felicia made and mouths "I'm not finished with you," then rolls her eyes. (This mother and daughter have come a long way already!) Roger Jackson then approaches Lorna and asks to talk to her outside alone. Felicia gets upset when she sees Lorna leaving with Roger Jackson. Ada tells Felicia to leave her alone. When Felicia says that Jackson could hurt Felicia, Ada replies not if Lorna hurts him first.
Outside, Roger invites Lorna to join him at a weekend meeting in Palm Springs at a fancy hotel complete with a hot tub and a spectacular view. Lorna tells him he'll have to count her out for the weekend. When Roger says he doesn't understand, Lorna says that doing business with him is fine, but as far as anything else, frankly, Lorna thinks Roger is too old for her, like a father figure. When the confused Roger points out that Lorna has been coming on to him all night, Lorna, smiling the whole time, asks, "Have I? Or has it just been in your head? I mean, it couldn't be anyplace else, because as we all know, men start losing it sexually at around 19, so if that were gonna be the case, well, you haven't any left. See, I, on the other hand, am just hitting my stride. Next time, pick on someone your own age." Roger then asks Lorna just what her game is. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Dean's Plan Is a Success--Lorna & Ada Get Roger Jackson Too
Lorna has made herself perfectly clear, but Roger Jackson threatens to fire her anyway. Lorna says she doesn't think he'll do that, though, because if he did, then one of Ace's competitors would snap her up in a heartbeat and want to know Roger's secrets to success and she'd just have to tell them. Roger tells Lorna he's not finished with her, but Lorna replies, "I think you are."
Inside the Paradise, Ada has the floor and is introducing an unforgettable new song, the music of a whole new generation. Lorna and Roger Jackson enter just in time to hear Dean over the sound system. It's all Lorna can do to conceal her laughter. Roger Jackson is fit to be tied, but Dean's new song goes over very well. Dean and Jenna steal a moment to celebrate in an alcove, and when Jackson confronts Ada about the music, asking who did this, Ada replies it was done by people who appreciate music, young people, and asks how it feels to be a has been. Roger says if this is their pitiful idea of revenge, it's going to be short-lived. Lorna says to tell that to all the people who are dancing. Dean has a new hit on his hands. Too bad Ace doesn't. Then Lorna asks Ada if she'd like to dance, and Ada says yes and takes off to dance with a flourish, as Dean, Jenna, and Felicia sway in a circle on the other side of the dance floor. Dean and Jenna Move Into Their New Apartment
Dean and Jenna get their first look at their first real home together and begin moving in. Although Dean keeps apologizing for the place and promises to do all of the work it needs himself, Jenna tells him to stop apologizing because she loves the place, and they'll fix it up together. They also get a surprising reaction to Dean's keyboard playing from the tenant directly above them. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Frankie, Ryan, Kelsey and Jamie--A Dawn Discussion
Frankie and Ryan are at Kelsey's apartment to talk to her, and are surprised when Jamie answers the door and tells them it's kind of early for a visit. Kelsey explains to Frankie and Ryan that Jamie has a breakfast meeting. Jamie asks what Frankie and Ryan's visit is all about. Ryan tells him they have some business with Kelsey. "At dawn?" Jamie asks. Frankie adds that, for different reasons, she and Ryan are both checking out the situation at the hospital. Kelsey adds that Frankie and Ryan are checking out the mentor program, among other things. Frankie doesn't want Kelsey to get hit with any surprises if the board decides to hold a hearing. Jamie tells Kelsey he thought they were in this together. Frankie says no one is doing anything behind Jamie's back. Jamie tells Kelsey that it's one thing to spy on him, but it's another to use his own family to do it. Kelsey tells Jamie that Frankie helped her research her article, and all Frankie is doing now is looking out for Kelsey's best interests. Jamie wants to know why he's the last to know, and he doesn't like having his actions questioned. Frankie pipes up that it happens to women all the time. Jamie tells her it's between him and Kelsey, then tells Kelsey he wishes she had come to him in the first place. Kelsey says she needed help getting information out of a computer. Jamie says those statistics only show one side of a story. Kelsey retorts that she's not going into any hearing unprepared, and reminds Jamie that he just told her that he hired Cass to protect Jamie's right. Ryan suggests that he and Frankie leave so Kelsey and Jamie can talk, but Jamie says no, he'll go. He has to meet Iris to discuss how to handle the fallout from Kelsey's article. Kelsey follows Jamie into the hall, where she tells him this isn't just because of her article. Jamie says he wishes this was all behind them, and Kelsey says she wishes it was too. When Kelsey goes back into her apartment, she asks Frankie and Ryan what they've got for her, and, seeing their grim faces, asks them to please tell her they have good news. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Frankie, Ryan, Kelsey--Nothing About This Is Black and White
Ryan asks Kelsey if she's sure she's ready for this. Kelsey tells him and Frankie to just show her what they have, so they do. Frankie hands Kelsey two different press releases on the winner of the mentor program, one of which was written about an hour before the announcement was made. They're the same...except for the name of the winner. Jamie changed Kelsey's name and put in Daryl Beckett's. Frankie tells Kelsey she's sorry. Kelsey asks how Ryan and Frankie know that it was written an hour before the announcement. Ryan replies that they went into the undeleted files; both documents are time-and-date-stamped, and the version naming Kelsey as the winner of the mentor program was written first. Kelsey says there must be some explanation, but Frankie says it probably isn't one Kelsey wants to hear. Frankie thinks that Jamie just caved in to all the pressure that hit him when the videotape surfaced. Frankie didn't want to believe this about Jamie herself. Ryan says maybe Jamie panicked; both his career and Kelsey's were on the line. Kelsey yells at Frankie and Ryan to stop trying to explain this. Ryan says maybe they don't have to explain; it's all there in black and white. Kelsey, growing more upset by the second, says that they are talking about her life, and the man that she fell in love with, and a job that she wanted more than anything in the world. She says there is nothing about this that is black and white, then crumples the press releases and throws them on a floor, swearing. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Iris & Spencer--Kelsey Has 24 Hours to Act or Forget It
Spencer finds Iris at TOPS and asks her in a snide tone of voice if she's waiting for her new friend Hank. Iris tells him that she's waiting for Jamie. Thanks to Spencer's vindictiveness, they have to defend themselves every day. But, she adds, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Iris informs Spencer that the board has given Kelsey an ultimatum: she has 24 hours to decide whether she's going to lodge a formal complaint, or let it drop. Spencer asks if this means that unless Kelsey accuses Jamie of discrimination within 24 hours, there won't be a hearing? Iris says there won't be need for one, will there? Thanks to Janie for the scene.

Cass, Iris, and Jamie Meet About the Hospital Board
Spencer tells Iris he intends to protect his niece. Iris retorts that she's never had so many personnel problems, and why doesn't Spencer face up to the fact that Kelsey is a troublemaker? Spencer says that Kelsey is a brilliant doctor who deserves better treatment than she's getting from Iris's hospital. Iris asks why doesn't Kelsey go somewhere else then, because it would be a great relief to everyone. Spencer says that would be too easy, and he wants Kelsey's name cleared. The board is about to find out that Kelsey isn't some little nobody they can get rid of, and she has her family behind her one hundred percent. Iris replies that she thinks Kelsey might need more than that. Spencer tells Iris to just worry about Jamie, because Jamie's career as golden boy is about to come to an end, then leaves the table and storms toward the elevator. He meets Jamie, who has just arrived for his meeting with Iris, on the way. Jamie asks Spencer if he's deliberately trying to ruin things for Jamie and Kelsey, and if that's the reason he's pushing for this hearing. Spencer reminds Jamie that he told Jamie not to underestimate Kelsey. Jamie says he's not Kelsey's enemy. Spencer replies that once everything is in the open, Kelsey will know who's on her side. When Jamie tells Spencer that Kelsey is hurting, Spencer tells Jamie not to blame Spencer for that, and then finally leaves.
Jamie then joins Iris at the table, where he greets her by sarcastically saying that this morning is off to a great start. Iris tells Jamie about the board's decision to go ahead with an inquiry if Kelsey lodges a formal complaint. Jamie tells Iris he has hired Cass to represent him, and Iris replies that that's very wise. Jamie just wants this over as quickly as it started. Iris tells Jamie they'll have to discuss strategy with the hospital attorney. Cass arrives then and greets both Jamie and Iris. He asks Jamie if things are any better today, and Jamie says they're worse. Iris says they're going to have to do something. Cass sits down at the table and tells Jamie to tell him from the beginning everything he remembers about his first meeting with Kelsey. Jamie says he first met Kelsey at a party before he knew she was part of the mentor program. Cass asks if Jamie found Kelsey attractive. When Jamie asks why Cass is asking him that, Cass replies that he's trying to get Jamie used to the sorts of questions he'll be asked. Jamie admits that he tried to get to know Kelsey better that night because he found her attractive. Iris says that's terrible, then tells Cass that Kelsey is going to say that Jamie came on to her, she consented, then Jamie was humiliated and embarrassed because of the impropriety of the situation and that's why he didn't give her the job. Jamie says that Kelsey doesn't believe that. Iris tells Jamie to look at it as if the tables were turned. What if Kelsey had come on to Jamie? In her mind, she would have been a certainty for the promotion. Jamie says that's not true either way, but Cass says that Iris has a point, and they've got to come up with some kind of ammunition. Cass continues questioning Jamie, but Jamie says that Kelsey never asked him for any special privileges and he never gave them. Cass asks if Kelsey made the first move on Jamie. Jamie tells Cass he doesn't want to attack Kelsey, he just wants to make this go away. Cass says he thinks it's a little late for that now. Jamie says he wants the hospital out of his bedroom, and asks Cass to tell him how they do that. But Cass says the door is already open, and it's going to take a lot of work to close it again. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Frankie, Ryan, Kelsey, Spencer--It's All Up to Kelsey
Kelsey apologizes to Frankie and Ryan for her earlier outburst, saying they must feel like the messengers who were beheaded for bringing the king bad news. Ryan tells Kelsey they hated doing it, and Kelsey replies that it wasn't their fault. Frankie says this isn't like Jamie, and she still believes he had to be under enormous pressure to do something like that. Kelsey says she asked Jamie if the videotape affected his decision, and he swore to her that it didn't. Frankie says Kelsey has to stop making all of this make sense. Kelsey says she was willing to let all of this go. She handled losing to Daryl. Ryan says she did handle that well. Kelsey only asked Jamie to be honest. Frankie wonders why that's always the hardest thing for men. Ryan says women have a hard time with that too sometimes. Frankie says this doesn't mean Jamie doesn't love Kelsey, it just means that he's a bonehead, which makes Kelsey laugh. Frankie says she loves one of those boneheads too. Kelsey asks how she's supposed to love someone she can't believe.
Then the doorbell rings, and Ryan goes to answer it. It's Spencer, and even though Ryan tells him Kelsey isn't up for company, Spencer insists he's family and pushes past Ryan into the apartment. He's very pushy and overbearing with Kelsey as he tells her about what Iris told him about the board only giving Kelsey 24 hours to lodge a complaint or they'll let the whole thing drop. Despite Kelsey's pleas with Spencer not to push her on this, Spencer puts on his best forceful tone and tries to push Kelsey into taking action. Kelsey doesn't care about the battle now; she cares that Jamie is the first man in years that she let herself get close to and believe in at home and at work, and he still deceived her. She feels like a fool who hasn't learned anything from her past experience with Charlie Hunter. Spencer's continued emotional pressure only upsets Kelsey more. Kelsey has an ally in Frankie, and Kelsey tells Frankie she's glad that Frankie has so much faith in her. Ryan tries to get Spencer to back off to no avail, telling Spencer not to pressure Kelsey. Frankie says that Kelsey needs time alone to sort this all out, but Spencer disagrees. Ryan tells Kelsey that whatever she decides, they're behind her, and Frankie wishes her good luck. Kelsey feels that a hearing would be another stacked deck in a man's favor, but Frankie simply says that Kelsey knows what the score is and asks if she feels like evening it up. Kelsey insists she has to talk to Jamie first, but Spencer doesn't think that's a good idea. Although Kelsey asks for time alone after Frankie suggests it, Spencer won't hear of it, and when he tries to tell Kelsey just one more thing, he pushes her too far, and she explodes, telling Spencer that she can't listen to him anymore before she grabs her jacket and runs out of her apartment. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass and Felicia Visit Dean & Jenna's New Apartment
Cass accompanies Felicia on her first visit to Dean and Jenna in their new apartment for both moral support and to keep her from saying something to offend the young couple, since Felicia is in concerned mother mode. Felicia has doubts about visiting so soon, but Cass tells her to relax, although she doesn't find Cass's "look on the bright side" observation about the lack of cockroaches funny. Dean and Jenna proudly show off their new home to their first guests, with Jenna enthusiastically raving the floor plan (everything's connected) and the high ceilings, and Dean telling Cass and Felicia that they are Dean and Jenna's first guests and offering them a glass of tap water or some music. A loud crash from the floor above Dean and Jenna's has Cass joking about "The Honeymooners," saying it sounds like Ralph is sending Alice to the moon. Dean and Jenna share some of their plans for the apartment with Cass and Felicia. Felicia nearly blows it when she says she just thought Dean and Jenna would find something a little safer. Cass warns her to be careful in a voice only she can hear. Dean asks Felicia if she thinks he can't protect Jenna, and Felicia assures him she doesn't think that at all. She says that she was remembering that a place like this would have been Heaven for her and Luke when they were Dean and Jenna's age. Jenna tells Felicia she doesn't want Felicia to worry about them. Felicia is surprised to learn from Cass, Dean, and Jenna that Kelsey Harrison lives in the apartment complex, in the building across the way. Felicia offers to buy Dean and Jenna some furniture, but they tell her they want to do it on their own. When Dean says they're going to move in as soon as possible, Cass enthusiastically volunteers to personally move all of Dean's musical equipment. Felicia offers to hire someone to move Jenna's things, but Jenna asks Felicia if they can leave her bedroom at home the way it is. Felicia says she would love that, so they agree to leave Jenna's room at home the way it is. Felicia tells Jenna and Dean she's very happy for them, and they thank her. Cass says he hates to break this up, but he's meeting Frankie. Felicia agrees that she and Cass should go and let Dean and Jenna get back to their work. Felicia then gives Jenna the shopping bag she brought, which contains Jenna's Mr. Bear teddy bear. After saying their goodbyes, Cass and Felicia leave. Outside, Felicia asks Cass how she did. Cass tells her she got better as she went along. Felicia wonders if Dean and Jenna will be all right living there by themselves. Cass tells her to think back and adds that Dean and Jenna have exactly what they want: this whole world to themselves. Felicia says she just hopes there's a place in it for her. Cass tells her to trust him: she's not that easy to get rid of. They laugh, and then Cass says he doesn't want to keep Frankie waiting, so how do they get out of there, because the place is like a maze. Felicia heads off in the right direction, and Cass follows her. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Dean and Jenna--Making a Home
Dave Fisher, one of the former tenants of Dean and Jenna's new apartment, stops by to pick up the plant that he and his wife Beth left there. After a brief chat with Dean and Jenna, Dave Fisher leaves. Dean then tells Jenna there's something they forgot. Jenna asks what it is. Dean says this house will not be a home unless they do this, and he'd like to start off on the right foot. He then turns on the stereo, and as a slow song fills the air, Dean asks Jenna if she'd like to dance. She says yes, she would, and so they slow dance in their living room and then kiss. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass Consoles Felicia Over Jenna's Move
At a coffee shop, Felicia is bemoaning the state of Jenna and Dean's new apartment--there's only one lock on the door, it's so open that anyone can climb in the window from the courtyard outside, the paint is peeling, and there's no closet space in the bedroom. Felicia couldn't even put her hats in Jenna and Dean's apartment closet. When Cass points out that Jenna doesn't wear hats, Felicia replies that Dean does. Cass laughs and says that's a good one. He also points out that Dean says it's a safe neighborhood, but Felicia makes an unfavorable comparison between Jenna and Dean's new apartment and D&M. Felicia says Jenna has no more business living alone than Felicia does. Cass reminds her that Jenna won't be alone, she'll be with Dean. When Felicia worries what Jenna and Dean will do for food, Cass tells her they'll put in a lot of appearances at TOPS, usually meal time, and then tells Felicia this may give her a chance to spend some time with Lorna. Felicia brightens considerably at that idea and decides to leave the coffee shop to call Lorna right away and see if Lorna will meet Felicia at Felicia's place...but not before she hugs Cass and thanks him. Cass returns the hug and tells Felicia that's what he's here for and not to forget it. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Cass & Frankie--The Stakes Keep Going Up for Jamie & Kelsey
As Felicia is leaving the coffee shop, Frankie arrives. They hug, and then Felicia leaves. Cass gives Frankie a hello kiss and tells her she looks beat. Frankie says she'll have to charge her client extra for that. Frankie hasn't pulled an all-nighter for a client in ages, and Cass asks her if she accomplished what she set out to. Frankie replies that she found what she was hoping she wouldn't find. Cass is sorry to hear that. He asks Frankie if she's had a chance to stop by Dean and Jenna's new place. Frankie says no, and asks Cass how it is. Cass says it's your classic first apartment--lots of charm, and cracked paint. Frankie asks how Felicia is handling Jenna moving in with Dean, and he says Felicia's worrying about everything but she's trying to let go. Speaking of letting go, Cass tells Frankie that Jamie is not going to drop his suit against Jake; all this talk of a hearing has Jamie fired up. Frankie asks if Cass is still planning on representing Jamie in the hearing. Cass says yes, as long as Jamie needs him to, and asks Frankie why she wanted to know. Frankie tells him the client she was meeting with today was Kelsey.
Frankie is miffed that the mug of water the waiter brought for her peppermint tea, which she provided herself, isn't hot, and she throws her teaspoon down on the table. Cass remarks on how grouchy Frankie is. Frankie says the wheels of progress turn so slowly, she's sick of it. Cass asks if Frankie made any progress with Kelsey. Frankie replies that that depends on what Cass means by progress, and she didn't ask Kelsey to be a good girl and be quiet. Cass says Kelsey has the whole hospital polarized. Frankie counters that it's always been like that. Cass says it's never been out in the open before. Frankie says that's good--get it out in the open and let the hospital deal with it. Cass says at this rate, Iris is going to have to hire a bunch of guys with striped shirts and whistles to break up all the fights. Frankie tells Cass that Kelsey's article was thoroughly researched and completely accurate. When Cass says he'll grant Kelsey that, Frankie sarcastically says that's generous of Cass. Cass replies that it's one thing to write an article about sexual discrimination, but it's quite another to bring it into your personal life. Frankie asks if Cass thinks Kelsey is acting out some paranoid fantasy. Cass says he thinks Kelsey may have an ax to grind. Frankie says maybe Kelsey is just sick to death of women always making less money for the same work, for always getting fewer promotions and fewer raises. Cass interrupts Frankie to say that Kelsey's timing stinks, and it's coming off looking like a vendetta. Frankie says there's no good time for bad news, and Kelsey knows she's putting her head on the block by speaking out. Hers AND Jamie's, Cass amends. Kelsey isn't thrilled about it, and neither is Jamie. Cass says he knows that women have it tough, but does Kelsey expect Jamie to make up for all of the sins of Western civilization? "No," Frankie replies. "She expects him to be honest and fair, and enlightened, which is what he claims to be." Cass asks if Jamie is supposed to be completely impartial here while Kelsey hurls hysterical accusations. Frankie says that Kelsey's complaints are not hysterical ravings, and if Jamie can't see that, then he is the one living in a fantasy world. Although their conversation up to this point had been kind of heated, things calm down now when Cass asks Frankie if she's hiding something from him. Frankie replies, "Let's just say that no matter whose side you're on, the stakes keep going up." Thanks to Janie for the scenes.

Frankie Before Her First Scheduled Date With Cass, 1989
This is one of my favorite sets of scenes, starting right here--all of the anticipation, jitters, near-total disaster, and that one perfect moment...in other words, this is the night of the first real date that Cass asked Frankie on. So as not to potentially spoil the effect for anyone who may be seeing this for the first time, or for the first time in years, I won't be going into a lot of little details in the descriptions for these scenes.
In these scenes, Frankie, panicked over her first date with Cass, calls Derek, who comes over to give her advice. When he asks Frankie why she said yes to the date with Cass in the first place, she replies, "Because when he touches me, I can't catch my breath." Frankie is afraid that this date will ruin things for her and Cass if it's great for her and lousy for him. Derek's final advice is to do what she wants to do and just try to have fun. After Derek leaves, Frankie realizes that Cass is one minute late, and the reason for that will be revealed in the next clip.

Cass Before His First Scheduled Date With Frankie, 1989
While Frankie battles the jitters before their first real date, Cass is stuck with one inconvenience after another. First, Stacey interrogates him about who his hot date is with. He manages to put her off, but then encounters more sibling trouble when Stacey has to confess that she and Derek "technically" broke and entered into Caroline Stafford's art gallery the other night and walked away with an appraisal Caroline did on the Red Swan...an appraisal that has Stacey wondering about its existence since the Swan was stolen before Caroline saw it. Then Cass gets a call from Caroline the crafty she-devil herself, and she insists that Cass come by the gallery right away because she's in real trouble. He reluctantly agrees, and when he and Stacey arrive at the gallery, Cass tells his sister that the last thing he needs is to miss his date tonight because he has to bail her out of a jam. Oh, Cass, you gave that warning to the wrong woman......

Frankie Takes Off After Cass, 1989
Cass is 25 minutes late picking her up for their date, so Frankie calls the law office to give him an earful, but Zack answers instead and tells Frankie that Cass went to the art gallery with Stacey. After hanging up from Zack, Frankie declares that she will be damned if she gets stood up for Caroline Stafford and goes charging out her front door.

Cass & Frankie 1989--A Glass of Champagne in the Face
Caroline's big trouble wasn't so big after all. It was really just an excuse to get Cass to the gallery so she could get him alone.
When Frankie arrives at the gallery, and learns from Stacey that Cass is probably still in Caroline's office, she heads back there. In Caroline's office, Cass is trying to get away from Caroline, but his attempts to escape her octopus-like grasp are unsuccessful, and when Frankie walks in just in time to see Cass pulling away from Caroline kissing him, Frankie's reaction is pure gut instinct: she throws her glass of champagne in Cass's face.

Cass & Frankie 1989--A Fight, and Their First Real Kiss
I LOVE this scene! I have from the first time I saw it.
Besides the fight, this is when Cass and Frankie have their first real "I'm kissing you because I want to kiss you and for no other reason" kiss...which is their second kiss of the night, so the evening did have one perfect moment after all.

Cass & Frankie 1989--Caroline Causes More Trouble
Cass and Frankie are both bothered when Caroline interrupts their kiss and refuses to go away. Cass has to avert a catfight between the two when Caroline pushes Frankie's buttons so much that Frankie is ready to lunge for Caroline. (I do love the way Cass has his arms wrapped so tightly around Frankie to hold onto her.) Caroline manages to cause even more trouble by turning the tables and blaming the entire mess of the evening on Cass for stringing both Frankie and Caroline along. Cass says neither one of them is going to tell him how to live his life, and bids both ladies good night before leaving, and so ends what was supposed to be Cass and Frankie's first real date. (Thank goodness their second real date--to Frankie's class reunion--went well until they returned to Bay City.)

Mac & Rachel 1985--Rachel Loses Her Memory
After undergoing surgery to remove a bullet when Carl Hutchins shot her while aiming for Mac, Rachel awakens in the hospital with no memory of her life or who she is. Mac discovers this firsthand when he goes to see her and she thinks he is her father. He gently tells her that he's not. Mac confirms that her name is Rachel Cory, and when she starts to get agitated, Mac tells her not to get upset, and she snaps at him that she's not upset, just annoyed, which makes Mac laugh. When Rachel asks why he's laughing, Mac says that that sounded just like Rachel. Then she asks Mac who he is, and he explains that he is Mackenzie Cory, and he is her husband. Rachel says, "Oh. How do you do...Mac."
Mac emotionally tells Rachel that he has loved her for a very long time, and they have been very happy together. Rachel's response is to thank Mac. Thanks to Eddie for the scenes.

Mac Reassures Matthew & Amanda About Rachel, 1985
As Ada looks on, Mac reassures Matthew and Amanda about Rachel, telling them that the whole family has to let Rachel know that they love her very, very much, because they do, and that no matter what, Rachel loves Matthew and Amanda very much, and so does Mac. Amanda tells Mac that she and Matthew love him too. Matthew and Amanda give Mac a double-scoop kiss and he then picks up a child in each arm and stands, announcing that he's going to go and get their mama. Thanks to Eddie for the scene.

Mac & Rachel 1985-Rachel Reunites With Ada, Matthew & Amanda
Ada welcomes Rachel home, and Rachel replies, "Thank you...Mom."
Ada says Rachel doesn't have to call her that if she doesn't feel like it; Ada answers to anything: Ada, Hey You, What's Your Face. Rachel says she'll give Mom a shot, and Ada replies that'd be nice, because she's kind of used to it.
Ada then asks Rachel if she's up to seeing the children. Rachel says Mac went to get them, and she understands they're terrific kids. Ada says they're great--they take after their grandmother. Mac brings Matthew and Amanda in then, and Rachel hugs the children as Mac and Ada look on and smile.
Mac tells Rachel she'll find their bedroom at the end of the East Wing hallway. Rachel apologizes and tells Mac she hopes he understands. Mac says of course he did. After Rachel heads upstairs, Mac leans against the mantel and says aloud to himself, "Yes, of course I understand." Thanks to Eddie for the scenes.
