For the lowdown on how William Grey Espy became AW's Mitch Blake check out http://www.welovesoaps.net/.
Never realized what a "catch" WGE was for AW but apparently he was quite in demand after his stint as Y&R's Snapper. Never thought of Mitch as all that vulnerable or volatile either but I guess Snapper was a "young turk" and Mitch was more of a mellow fellow. Either way Rachel and Felicia got themselves a "hunk."
I had never heard of WGE until his second stint (1986-1990) as *Mitch Blake*(hehe...what rock was I living under?) so I find all these little insights into his acting history/career/life soooo interesting. It was only recently that I learned he was such a hot commodity in the 70's. Thanks for posting *t_l*!
Old magazines with WGE on the cover from his *Snapper* days can be found on Ebay.
