Mitch,

Does your son know the difference between a gun and a rifle yet?

Les,

I don't think they teach it that way anymore. The army has co-ed companys. It just wouldn't be politically correct and all. As my boys were growing up I always referred to rifles and pistols as weapons. I was a navy gunner. Civilians have guns, I have weapons. I have a friend here locally that gets mad when I refer to any gun as a weapon. He is a hunter and sportsman. Never in the military at all. He just doesn't understand.

My boy called last Sunday night and we talked very briefly. He was real homesick. But I know he will get over it soon enough. He said he had written us a letter and put it in the mail. That was the 6th of July. The letter finally got here today the 12th. It wasn't postmarked until the 10th. The army is gonna have to do better about getting the mail out or they are going to have to deal with mama!!
