My Collies

I always wanted Lassie when growing up. So I got her in 1989. She died in 2000. Then I got Meggie, who died at only four years of age, and now have Savannah. Here is Meggie and her online memorial.

Friday evening my collie, Savannah, had a mild seizure. I was really scared, because she is the half sister of Meggie who died from a genetic disease. She checked out fine. The doctor said she just had a mild one, and sometimes it just happens that a dog, or us, can see or hear something that triggers a seizure. But she hasn't been herself since the earthquake, and he said that was normal. That they can feel all of the aftershocks when we can't and it's unnerving for her and creates anxiety. She wasn't feeling well because of the shots last evening, but I think she is better today. I hope so.

Thanks, Larry. So right after she calms down, yesterday morning, the little 2.7 quake centered in Valley Park of all places came rolling through here at 6:30 AM. I was right here on the computer. No TV. Quiet. Sounded like a big truck was headed for my house. Then my chair shook. Then it was gone. She got all quiet again. She seems to be herself today.

When I lived in San Diego 73-76 we had a couple of 4's. I had a waterbed at the time with no baffles and it rocked the boat pretty good. By the time I finally got up it was over. I never really worried about the "big one". My neighbor did enough of that for three people :D 8-)

My daughter, Katie, lived in San Diego for 2 1/2 years ( still suffering from PSTD for her leaving me, even though she's been back in Fenton for nearly the same amount of time ) - anyway, she felt a couple, but one was enough to make her bounce around in bed and hit her head on the headboard and then fall off the bed. I remember that one was on the news. She went to the California College of Fashion. And then worked for awhile.

I had an uncle that lived down in the bootheel of MO that had his kitchen cabinets wired shut and the fridge bolted to the wall, just waiting for the big one. I laughed every time I saw it.
