Thanks to all for your concern about Donna. I haven't had much time for the Web lately, what with taking over the household jobs and visits to the doctor and daily trips to the cancer center. But here's an update:
Things are proceeding as well as we have been hoping and praying for. Donna just finished three weeks of daily radiation treatments, and it appears they are doing the job and shrinking the tumor, which was the size of a baseball. She has two more weeks of treatments scheduled. At that point the doctors will evaluate her progress and see whether she needs more radiation treatments or chemotherapy.
She is able to get around a little easier now but still needs a cane. The pain still is quite severe, which means that the tumor is still pressing against nerves or that she, indeed, also has sciatica, which was what the doctors were looking for when they found the tumor.
She has been very heartened by all the cards, calls and e-mails that she has received. Ifyou'd like to send her a note, her e-mail address is mrsweatherj@aol.com.
