The county is bound to do things in a public way. They want the facility redone right the first time and they want the first impression a good one. They have a great deal of money to invest in this site so good things come to those who are patient. They are going to put down a whole complete concrete slap where the track will be and redo the rest of the facility including all new bathrooms, concession area, all new electric plus other stuff that is to long to list. The problem is that they have to do this with a design company then send it out for bids and then finally they start on getting it ready for BMX. It is all political and you know how they work ? In the long run there will be a BMX facility that will be second to NONE. |

There is no mention of a track in Binghamton on either NBL or ABA sites, the last mention of the Grippen Park BMX track in the Broome County legislature was to push the lease with ABA back until Sept. 1 2009.
So probably not, but I am sure Gary will come on here and say it is all moving along swell and anytime now they will be racing there....but what do I know? |

Well here this the update everyone has been waiting for about Grippen Park BMX. Today the final bids were due in for work scheduled for the facility. Good news is that the bids came in with in budget. Next thing they have to do is formally accept the bids which will be on Wednesday 12/10/08 and from there the contractor's who bids that are accepted are given time to secure the proper insurance. Work will start at the facility sometime in January and will be compeleted by spring time. There is no way we can get dirt in there at this time of year so we will have to wait until the spring to do that. But our long wait is coming to and end and we will be racing in 2009 with NO RAINOUTS !
When I hear more I will keep all informed. |

We got past the last hurdle today when the County accepted and awarded contracts to the lowest bid contractors. They have 30 days to secure proper insurance but most will have their insurance in place shortly. Not sure when any of them will start with the holidays coming but they all should be working with in 30 days. |

Congratulations Gary, I will be the first to admit I did not think it was going to happen, but I am sure it will be for the good of the sport to have a presence such as this in our area. I was quick to judge and doubt, but I also am quick to admit I was in error.
Good luck
