So,
I bought a half link chain - KMC Pintle - and rode it for about a week.
Last weekend I went out to Rochester and that thing snapped as I was pedaling up a box jump.
So, with Jeff's assistance, I made my way to a Dick's Sporting goods, rolled the bike inside, borrowed their chain tool, and threw on an $8 Diamondback chain.
The new chain has held up so far.
As for the half links, not sure if I am a believer. _________________ Nicholas Rauch

where'd it break?
I didn't get one because they were at least 2-3X as expensive as a normal chain. Then, when you look at them.. they can't possibly be stronger... the plates are bent. Well they may not be weaker either... just more prone to stretch over the long run. |

I don't know where it blew apart. It was like this one link just literally exploded and the 2 or 3 either side didn't look too healthy either. It just blew up when I was pedaling up the box jump so I can't imagine if I had been torquing on it heading for the vert wall or something. That would have sucked.
Anyway, tried and true I guess is the way to go. _________________ Nicholas Rauch

same thing has happened to my friend like 2 or 3 times now. hes just given up on em. I run the kmc ultra hollow pin i think? idk its a expensive chain but it came with my bike. I think people only buy half links so they can slam there back wheel and its the cool thing to do to have a half link. so many people are like that with there slammed, shaved down seats and all black bikes. _________________ Justin Wade |

My bike is so raw.
All black components though - except the raw brakes.
