Do you have any idea how stressful those race days are for me?  Shocked

Between the raffle and registration and the damn money....aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh.

At least a couple tracks let me in their registration buildings so I could sit down and do it. I'm going to carry a Lazy Boy around next year to sit on. Laughing

Richie. It's a shame you don't live near Kingston. The dollar open series kicks ass. 13 and under ...14 and over. Cost a buck to race (plus your class). It has helped Matt so much being on a full gate with Pat Parker, Albright, Stodolski, etc. We have people come just to race that series.

If it is run with the State Series, I think the state should have them run class.  We should have some representation of Pros at the President's cup.  Right now Florida is the only one who shows with anyone.

To be honest I didn't even know that they had a pro class at the Pres Cup race. I just found that out earlier tonight. I believe NJ is having a few guys show up.

I spoke with Stodolski at the banquet. He's all for it and so is Joey. I brought it up to Bill Martin (since Rose isn't talking to me) and it didn't get a very favorable response. I'm going to bring it up at the meeting next week.

we do use our pros from the hyper pro open in the pres cup. the "elite open" IS their class that they race. i fyou are amature doing the opens you have to race class.

let me say this again this is the pros' class.

in nj they do get a plate just like regular riders. why would you want them to race another class? just because you have ams that cant decide whether or not they want to race in thier race/ class? if they dont care about points move over and let the other guys who want to race, race. why create another class because you dont feel its fair?

are you kidding?

Back up on the attack.  I'm just saying that having them scored for points toward the state series in an open race with amateurs isn't really the best situation.  But hey, I don't really care.  My MAIN point was to get some of our Pro riders to the President's cup.

Sorry.

And you were right on one point.  Their class is ELITE OPEN.  A class in which only Elites may race.  We are talking about a PRO/AM Open.

The two are different and I am surprised the NBL and Florida let you run it like that and compete in the President's Cup

please dont take it as an attack.. it was not meant that way..but after reading a few "whiney posts" about how its not fair that ams have to race class and pros dont... blah blah... you know what i mean... why wouldnt they let them race in the cup, they have a class.. it is elite open. would you rather they not compete at all? all the ams that start racing the pro am opens hate having to race class( i used to hear it all the time) and i agree its a pain but nothing you can do about it. consider it a rite of passage. when they decide to make the move up then they will feel differently.
the more riders we have participating in the cup the better. who wants to go there, practice one day then sit the next then race again? its too expensive to waste a day.

as far as the ams racing class the ones more interested in the open( if they coast in class) they should talk to ea other ahead of time and get the hck out of the way so the others can RACE.

im glad the elite open class is in the pres cup. makes it more exciting... i have never heard anyone complaining about it till now.

how bout this... the pros dont race at regionals any more cause no one has any "elite open" classes any more...(last yr eht was the only regional) that is something to complain about ...not what you guys are talking about...

another thing someone posted that was a great idea was making the motos more than 1 pt each( where everyone gets a point regardless of finish) plus we had scrambled motos this season which everyone LOVED . its a little more work clint but you will find its great to  mix them up you dont get stuck with the same riders each moto...

i think ct's series gives you moto points of 3-2-1 points.....if you finish 1-2-3( dont quote me maybe some of the ct guys can chime in here) i really think this makes for more exciting motos and not just "sitting" as they have made it to the main... i think a few of our guys are going to suggest this to rich at their end of season meeting. its an evolving series, each yr it gets better with more rider input.

you guys are on the right track for sure and i hope you can coordinate some of your races with ours for next season. with all that talent in the tri state area it HAS to be a success..

for the record our open series requires the riders to do 5 out of 10 state qualifiers to be elegible for end yr awards...( we  have 5 tracks now with hazelton joining this past yr)

we do a product raffle at every race to augment the entry fees/ money put into the days pot. you guys certainly have that taken care of which takes a huge effort..so hats off to your sponsors thats the hardest part

if you look at the pres cup results for elite open there were riders from fla, alabama and pa. not many though...i assume it was because of that weekend used to be a pro/ uci race and most had to race jr or elite men for the national. i dont know how that will pan out this yr now that its a big a race (  Sad ) i wish it was left as a pro race as we dont have many in our area as it is...

Here's where we are at so far for next year

I have received a PK Ripper frame from SE Racing.

I have VERBAL commitments from Avent, Bulldog, Chris King, Felt, Fly, Intense, Johnson Plates, Shadow Conspiracy, & Supercross.

There are also a few fence sitters Addison, Kovachi, Redman, & Standard.

Got No's from Fox, MCS, Profile, and S&M

No response from Brew, Free Agent, GHP, Shimano, Staats, Tektro, UGP, & Utopia Optics

Have yet to contact Kuwahara, Clayborn, Kenda, Maxxis, Anarchy, & Crupi

Jimmy at Bulldog sounded really enthused about it. I felt it was a good fit with them being based out of NYC. He wants to set up a dirt jump contest at one of the qualifiers. Maybe be a halftime thing between races or something. What do you guys think?

Do any of the tracks have dirt jumps? it might be tough to build one off ramps for such a thing.. just my nickels worth...

Build a good size wooden kicker and have the landing be the backside of a jump on the track.

Just an idea.

Rob does them for free for the pro/am. I'm not sure what his custom plates go for. Somewhere around 15-20 bucks I think
