What will suffer by using a crank arm that is not the right length for a specific rider? does 5mm make a big difference?

I think its more a matter of personal preference. Use what feels best.
what size are you on/thinking of getting ? _________________ Ross Wooding

I personally think going up in gearing will benefit you.
180's may make you feel like you are reaching too much. _________________ Bye for now,

currently running 41-14= 57.1.
43-15=55.9, what would you suggest?
I feel I have enough speed and have crank left at the end of the track. I just wondered if I might feel more comfortable on the bike with a longer reach. _________________ www.baxterbmx.com |

I run 180's and I like them. With a bit longer crank you will have a little more leverage which means a little more torque. Its a matter of whether or not you can still pedal and ride smooth with them. If you can't ride smooth that little extra power is all for naught _________________ Ross Wooding

My guess, running a 57.1 and 180 cranks, you will need a push out of the gate. That is a huge gear ratio to push now.
Just put them on and try it out. You'll know if you like them on your first lap. _________________ Bye for now,

The 180s will probably wait until I get a frame with a euro BB, I feel I am getting out of the gate ok now, I am with you guys until the first obstacle then I stop and you keep going.
I ran the 41-15 at Bethel on friday and it seemed like I was running out of pedal before the last straight. I put the 41-14 on for the rest of the weekend and felt better. _________________ www.baxterbmx.com |
