Is this site getting painfully slow or is it just me?

I have experienced slow and sometimes no access. I remember someone(durg) offering to get the forum off freepower and onto the actual site. Is that feasible? would it make it faster, better, etc? how much will it cost to do? I will donate or pay the whole expense depending on the total cost and effectiveness(if it will solve the problem).

no extra cost, would be fairly easy. Just need to switch from Windows to UNIX hosting.

Durg,

What if I purchased a webspace and domain name - bmxunderground.com forums?

Then I could have you run the whole forum end of things.

if you wanted to... but there really is no need. From what I remember what you have now you can have as many subdomains as you want. so you could have forums.bmxunderground.com (or whatever)

can't do anything here, it's hosted on freepowerboards.com.

to do anything I need nick to make one change under the hood at his site. Or set up a new one.

BTW the ads would be gone too. Unless Nick chose to run them.

Durg, my only concern with running a subdomain is I don't know if I can change to Unix hosting in a subdomain and still run my Windows based Frontpage that i use to do all of the regular site stuff.

If it is possible to have both going under the same domain without screwing everything up that's totally fine.  Otherwise I would be willing to pay the $40-$50 a year to just have a bmxundergroundforums.com site up where people link from the regular site to the forums site.

By the way, it may still have ads, just not the crazy stuff that's going on here.

Let me know my options durg.

Yeah you can. UNIX runs Frontpage extensions. Thats pretty much how all websites are run. The only reason to run windows hosting is to use .NET or ASP applications. On your end you wouldnt be able to see anything different.

Give them a call to find out for sure about switching to UNIX and see if they will copy everything over.

I will agree. The ads are rediculous now.

The one banner at top was bearable. But now the pop-up ads restrict you from navigating through the site.

And highlighting certain words and allowing us to look up links in every post is a total pain.

Come on Admin. Lets get off our butt and fix the site.

You are inches from being banned son!

First I build your bike with new parts and clean / grease important areas. Then you think you know what's best on your bike and put the worn parts back on.

Stick to what you know son... flipping pizzas.

will do.

I think you had PHP installed. You need to switch from Windows to UNIX hosting. They should be able to easily copy everthing over and have frontpage extensions up and running so to you there will be no change.
