|
|
Well the 2009 Regional Schedule is posted and has me wondering again for the 6th year in a row...
Who picks the dates for the Regionals and why do they pick them when we haven't started racing here in the Northeast?
Take a look at the schedule and tell me what you think.
The full NE Regional schedule is:
Egg Harbor April 18 & 19
Cumberland, Md May 16 & 17
Kingston June 20 & 21
Hazleton, Pa July 11 & 12
Championship is on Sept 26 (no venue yet)
Egg harbor again in the second week of April? Does anone know that we live where there is excessive rain and snow? Plus, how many tracks are open prior to this date for the season?
I just don't get it. _________________ Bye for now,

Maybe someone who has some knowledge of the weather in location to the geographical breakdowns of the country, could actually make the right decisions. _________________ Bye for now,

Doesn't Don Olsen have a say in it? He should know. We may blow off EH just because everytime we've been there for a regional or national it's been lousy weather _________________ Clint Bonnett

I also heard the finals will be at Bethel after a rebuild that is happening right now. |

I won't be at Egg either. Last 2 times I have gone it has rained.
I thought Don Olson helped with the scheduling, but maybe he has been absent the last 6 years when these meetings occur.
There are 5 Regionals. One is a TBA.
So Bethel is getting a rebuild huh?
It will never compare to Woodward. This will probably be one of the worst mistakes the NBL has ever made. _________________ Bye for now,

I personally think Bethel was in better shape than woodward. I know the entire Woodward package is nice , but the track itself was not so good, the paving in the turns was absolutely horrid, it looked to me like racing was an aside to all the freestyle stuff and therefore not as much attention paid to the track upkeep. Plus Woodward is 30 miles from nowhere, the closest Walmart is 35 miles away for gods sake..
ok, bring on the attack, I can take it... |

there are only few tracks that i have been to in the northeast that i believe could properly shelter the regional championship and the national having it not at woodward would not be good its been there for so long that many are comfortable going there and not worrying about how the track is going to be and if it is worth the trip, woodward has consistently not changed and changing the location it may cause a lack of riders for at least the first year. _________________ Kyle Klumbach

Well, if I posted it then I must be serious.
Have you been to Woodward?
Anyone who goes loves the whole environment that Woodward offers. Granted the track hasn't been up to the standards of what it use to be, but it is still an awesome site to hold a large race.
Positives:
downhill track
long
includes park and trail facilities
eat meals right on campus... food was cheap and great
campgrounds and cabins with showers available
clean
Negatives:
long walk from campgrounds to track
track not 100% groomed due to lack of local racing
That's all I have. _________________ Bye for now,

yes, i was at the race in sept.
i believe the race should stay at woodward, but to say moving it would be one of the worst decisions the nbl ever made... makes me laugh, thats all. |

With the declining #'s in bmx racing, I personally believe that moving it would be one of the NBL's worst decisions.
Strictly looking at a #'s thing. _________________ Bye for now,

I have "heard" that Woodward is in financial trouble,as is everything. Perhaps they simply cannot afford to upkeep the racing facility and are focusing on freestyle again. |

Back on topic, whether the dates are good or not, I really like the fact that the furthest one from me is 285 miles instead of the forever trips to west virginnie and regular virginnie. |

From what I was told by a staff member there is that the contract with the NBL was up to host the race there. They may come to terms on it yet. But for now they are keeping it TBA _________________ Clint Bonnett

I don't really like Bethel.
I was there the last time they held the Championship and Nationals. _________________ Nicholas Rauch

i had overheard that disney was purchasing the camp woodward orginazation.... disney being aba is what would be turning woodward aba and therefor kicking nbl out of the track... i am truly disapointed as i loved the trip, the track, and the whole weekend... wish the turns were repaved... maybe last straight needs tobe built up a bit... seems they arere inch or 2 shorter than originally designed... but track was really nice lay out and facillity was perfect _________________ hit up HUBIES restaurant/pizzaria or their catering or wood stove shop |

That is a bummer if the regional championship is not being held at Woodward. I always enjoyed the trip there and the facilities. That race just won't be the same if they put it somewhere else. _________________ Ross Wooding

Here is the info that I heard on the Regional Championship weekend...
Woodward is going ABA. They will start racing locals under the ABA.
That is why the NBL Regional Championship cannot be held there anymore.
I have the perfect place to hold the Championship race and the first 2010 National...
The indoor site in Syracuse!!
I think the NBL should jump on this opportunity and pull some strings to get this venue open. _________________ Bye for now,
