Went and checked it out Friday with Jeff and Mdurg.

Place has ton to ride despite being in a relatively small building.

Had a lot of fun, minus one trip to the floor, haha.

My shin took most of the impact from my graceful fall.

So, Jeff had to give me some fatherly advice about wearing shin pads.

Nikon D300 or D700.  D700 is definitely a dream, but it's nice to dream right?

oh I thought it was the D90 (?) which is also supposed to have those great high ISO settings. Yeah... $$$$

BTW, all those cameras do have the auto focus motor to drive the old lenses. Only the low end models (D40, D60, etc.) have that dropped. That 50mm prime is suppose to be killer... at around $100. downside is you gotta move your body to frame the shot.

Yeah I think that lens might be my next investment.

I think if I were shooting with the D300, at that many megapixels, as long as you are far back, the framing isn't of too much consideration. Just crop it when you get home, I guess.  Just a thought.

Nick,

I think you should explain how you took a trip to the floor. Just to bring all your forum fans up to speed.

And yes I gave Nick some advice on protective wear, but I should've given him advice on pedal placement.

As you can see in the photo, Nick told me I was #1 for my advice and I then told Nick he needed to find a ride home.

Overall it was a fun time. Although I do miss what xdreams has to offer. Mdurg was definitely the ultimate rider out of our group. He rode just about everything, and rode well. He hasn't quite met his monkey face to face again though. Maybe next time.

So are we hitting xdreams this Friday or Saturday?

Thanks for the bike comments Justin. That was only my 4th time on it since the build. It rides well but definitely has a brake issue.

Thanks for the props Jeff... and yeah I've got to tackle the spine.

Nick, I'm not sure why you want a new camera. Your old one seems to work well enough. There are a lot of details you may have missed in your images. For example see below the enhanced cleaned up version.

Alright,

Just so Jeff will get off my back....

I caught my pedal because it was too low to the ground when I went to go off the box jump.  Pedal hit, and I went to the floor.  Definitely a foolish mistake.

Now, I would like Jeff to explain his method, or lack there of for jumping the box jumps.  Haha.

I will definitely explain my method...

and that is I don't have a method. East Shore has me a bit boggled.

I'm use to longer approaches and being able to actually pedal in between obstacles. I almost had it cleared there a couple times. Then I took too long of a break and got cold. Not an excuse. Just my mistake.

I will have it mastered plus the second one by the time we leave there the next chance we go.

Now Nick...

I need you to explain your method on the large roll in to box jump at xdreams.

My only issue with eastshore is like you said. everything is kinda crammed in there so no pedaling room and little time to adjust if your uneven. and for a guy like me who rides with no brakes... its not the funnest jumping the boxes there sometimes.

I wouldn't mind heading down there every once in a while or every other weekend. It's definitely different than Xdreams and if there isn't anyone there, it is fun to push yourself.

I really need to learn to drop in and pop out on the taller, vert stuff.  It would make it a lot more fun there.  The other day, it felt like I was limited to the part right where you come in, and the box jumps.

Defintitely something to do though.

Justin...

Maybe that's why you should be using brakes.

There are too many minimally skilled riders (not saying you are, but you are a racer) attempting to ride parks without brakes, and it usually turns into watching them run into people or out of control and falling alot.

Put the brakes back on your bikes until you have full control over all your riding abilities.

next time I go I'd like to be able to clear both boxes in a row, then shoot up the qtr onto the deck.

Oh yeah the spine too.

Actually the spine is probably is the easiest thing to do.

mine are soft. East shore is dusty (sawdust from the construction) and the masonite is new so it's really slippery. The low pressure also takes some of the shock out of my squiddly riding.

Could use more pressure at xdreams but then I'd have to pump... too much work Smile
