I have been saying for the past 2 years that the nbl is NOT distined for this world much longer. Last year I said with in 2 years they would go under and from I read it just might be sooner. Years ago when the ABA tried to buy out the nbl I voted to aprove the sale but the rest voted NO. The ABA was going to keep the nbl seperate from the ABA but they were going to make a schedule (Nationals) so as to not run against each other. They were going to unify BMX basically under one sanction. What has wrong with that ? |

When you are talking about rookie & novice plates is that for nationals? What exactly does ABA do different?
I've always felt that there are to many "series" the state, regional, national, jacket, high points, leap etc...
How many #1 plates are there? It seems kind of crazy when your first year racing you can be the "NY #1" . I just wish that you could say "I finished #3 in the region" and have it really mean something.
I've always thought it would be great if the NBL & ABA merged, it seems to me that there would be a lot more riders at each race. |

the conflict being the non for profit nbl and the for profit aba... i think combined they could come up with great ideas and a great program... but its just unrealistic to assume... its more waiting for one of them to go out and have last one standing be in charge..
hope thats not the case but thats only way i see only 1 sanction _________________ hit up HUBIES restaurant/pizzaria or their catering or wood stove shop |

oh.... wouldnt be willing to invest say 125,000 give a bit to remodel and rebuild the track if it was for one of their non for profit faclitys would they? im thinking they would only do it if they were willing to take profits..... a 50 50 split maybe for 10years on the profit of the faclity if they front all initial costs and then day to day covers the operation of it and the profit of "renters" bike shops diners snakshacks whatever it may be is split even between both orgizations......... i mean id also be free winters to help out with it since im laid off.... hell handfull of cash and my gas and tolls paid and i would be happy to be there and get to ride all the time _________________ hit up HUBIES restaurant/pizzaria or their catering or wood stove shop |

Dmac,
The non-profit vs. profit aspect doesn't affect much of anything for the riders. All it means is they have a different set of tax codes.
They can still invest and see a return.
They could both see a return from an indoor, or any other investment for that matter, but they either don't have the cash, don't want to assume the risk, or don't care to take a share in that market.
The nonprofit vs. profit aspect doesn't really matter, except nonprofit sounds nicer to a lot of people. _________________ Nicholas Rauch

We could have switched but being nonprofit means you are able to apply and recieve grant money and business can donate money to the organization and then they are able to deduct it from thier taxes. I think it is a huge advantage compared to being a for profit track. It just seems that everyone hears ABA and they think a for profit organization. They have a arm of the ABA which is nonprofit called USA BMX. |
