Has anyone else seen the trailers for this movie? It is another Frank Miller movie, along the line of Sin City. I read a book about the Spartans and their stand against Xerxes and his Immortals. Gates of Fire it was called. I can't wait until this movie opens up. If y'all get a chance to see the trailer, you won't be dissappointed. _________________ Strangers have the best candy. |

I know you are just yanking my chain but there is a huge difference between comic books and graphic novels.
Here is a question for you Largs...what was the lowest face value price you paid for a comic book? For me it was 10 cents.
I understand that you are considerably older than me so you can't use the price from the comics that were chisled in stone. _________________ Strangers have the best candy. |

They were a dime until the about the mid sixties then they jumped to 12 cents.
I never knock anyone who reads comics.
When I was a kid I use to read them all and the old folks would always tell me that they would poison my mind.
What reading comics did for me was give me a love of reading that I still have today. By the time I was twelve I had already read Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, books about Heracles (Hercules) and other books on Greek and Norse mythology.
Today I will read almost anything except instruction manuals. _________________ Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable: John F Kennedy |

300 Spartans is supposedly part of Greek history. The King of Sparta, his personal bodyguard and a few others held up the Persian army long enough for the rest of the Greek kingdoms / city states to rally and defeat them. It was a movie in the 60's and as a kid I thought it was great, but I watched a year ago or so and it was cheesy as hell. The special effects of today make these epic type flicks amazing to watch. I love these kinds of movies. The only one of these that really sucked was Alexander.

Have you seen Rome yet?
Season two started a few weeks ago. It is sort of like Deadwood with swords. _________________ Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable: John F Kennedy |

MLW and I watch it, I find it pretty entertaining, interesting side plots about the soldiers and their relationships. Cracked me up having the old women off to side of the bed working on crafts while the "aristocrats" are screwing around. MLW watches Dexter as well, about a serical killer who works as CSI kind of guy for the cops and only kills "bad guys". I admit the coule of episodes I watched were surprisingly interesting.

Well, me and some buddies went to see 300 today. I enjoyed it for what it was. There was a couple of things that just didn't fit in the movie, but all told it was a great flick. _________________ Strangers have the best candy. |

I was pleasantly surprised when the Good Lady Boomer told me she'd like to see "300", so we're going tonight. A buddy of mine at work saw it recently with his wife and he reports that she was so turned on by all the ripped & shredded abs, pecs, lats, delts & glutes on screen, that he got more sex that night than in the previous 6 months.
Maybe I won't have to wear my warrior thong tonight!!! _________________ Government's definition of a citizen: Something that's got what it takes! |
